We had a Great Horned Owl in the Meadow for nearly 2 months one summer! We've added an owl box and a bat box to the property! Javelina come through about every other night. They have migrated up from South America and are in the peccary family. We or our Guests have also seen Coyotes, deer, raccoons, skunks, lizards and alien-looking bugs!
This 1948 house has been updated to open the floor plan. We raised the ceiling & installed additional lighting, flooring, and plumbing. Modern furnishings meet Mid-century styles meet Southwest Cowboy Country! Original artwork, antiques, vintage & quirky pieces blend beautifully with bamboo floors, tidy spaces, comfy furniture & luxurious bedding!
The 2 bedrooms have a Serta Firm & a Beauty Rest "Recharge" Luxury Firm mattress, each with comfortable pillowtops & your choice of Allergen-free, bamboo Temper-pedic or ergonomically-contoured pillows. Blankets, quilts & comforters are cotton & cozy! The master has a ceiling fan... or you can open the windows for some fresh air!

A lazy Susan corner cabinet will hold your food or seasonings. We provide salt, pepper, coffee, teas, hot chocolate, sugar, cream, olive oil & coconut oil, plus a few other items.
We give you enough supplies to get you going but do not resupply when you run out.
The living room has a leather sofa (not a sleeper) & two chairs. Educational Magazines & Books about Prescott & Arizona are provided plus there are games, cards & puzzles for your fun & entertainment! Or step out on the deck for birdwatching or stargazing! We also have a 40" flat screen TV with cable, WIFI and High-speed internet.
The Bathroom has a shower & a bathtub with a rainshower head and fluffy towels. Several shelves & storage closets are there for your sundries.
Prescott sits at a high elevation of 5,354 ft., giving us a mild climate & four seasons. We are often called the Mile-high Town so be sure to drink lots of water to adjust to the higher elevation. Prescott is surrounded by forests & the area offers five local lakes for fishing, hiking, cycling & kayaking. Prescott National Forest has 400 miles of groomed trails, biking trails & many equestrian trails. The Mile-High Trail System maps nearly 48 miles of trails around the city. Birding is also popular since we get migrations both north & south. Over 360 bird species have been confirmed in the area.
Prescott is also rich in western history, both cowboys and Native Americans. Several museums host events: Sharlot Hall, Museum of Indigenous Peoples and Phippen. The downtown Courthouse Plaza is busy nearly every weekend with art and antique shows, concerts & wine tastings. Music, film screenings, theatre & various performing arts are offered at the Elks Opera House, the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center and the Prescott Center for the Arts. Whiskey Row & the surrounding area have saloons, gift shops, art galleries & restaurants documenting the lives of ancient pre-historic Indian tribes, townspeople, cowboys & characters such as Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday and Big-Nosed Kate.
We are licensed, inspected and compliant with the City. We have fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors and a first aid kit.
Prescott has a Noise Ordinance from 10pm to 8am. We do not allow parties or events.
Pets are occasionally allowed with permission, a signed Pet Agreement and a Pet Fee.
Whether you're here for relaxation or to attend one of the many events we welcome you to the Prescott Hideaway. Please be respectful of neighbors & wildlife so we can continue to grow our business. And remember you are next to the forests! There are critters around & some can be dangerous, like black widows spiders, mountain lions & javelina. In case you didn't know, Javelina look like hairy pigs but are actually in the peccary family & roam in herds. They have 1.5" tusks, poor eyesight but keen noses. They're pretty casual & timid, rooting in the dirt for grubs, but if they're startled, aggravated or protecting their youngsters they can attack. Watch from a distance and make noise so they know you're there. Do not scare or charge them or leave food, pets or children unattended. And keep the gates closed so they don't eat the garden!
Have fun on your visit and we hope to see you at the Prescott Hideaway!

We stayed for two nights, would have loved more! A quaint setting with trees and lovely grounds to walk our dog around. Every detail was accounted for by the hosts down to the linens, kitchen spices, and all we could ask for! Dave and Karen are super nice and very available if we had needed anything. The reviews are correct on this property!

The Hideaway cottage is absolutely wonderful! Even better than described. We spent 2 great weeks at the cottage enjoying some Monsoon weather, exploring the area and relaxing. There were so many extra special touches that made the Cottage so welcoming. Beautiful property, great outdoor living space as well as very comfortable indoor space. We are already planning our next trip here in a few months. Thank you Dave and Karen - Superhosts for sure!

Our stay at Dave and Karen‘s place was amazing. We live in Tucson and just wanted to get away to a little bit cooler weather. The cottage was so well supplied, clean, and super cozy. The surrounding grounds are beautiful. We would definitely stay again!?

10.0 / 10.0
We have stayed here several times. It is private yet within walking distance to grocery stores and several restaurants. Karen and Dave are very welcoming and responsive. They spend a lot of time tending the property/gardens and keeping the hummingbird feeders filled. Always an enjoyable stay!

Very clean cottage in good area. Shaded so keeps it cool inside. Well stocked with everything you need, and nice porch and patio for relaxing in the evening. Didn’t realize when I booked that there are 4 rentals right next to each other, but privacy wasn’t an issue. Nice to be able to bike and hike right from the door.
10.0 / 10.0
The property was super cute. No need the bring anything. Convenient to shopping and downtown. I would definitely stay there again.
10.0 / 10.0
We stayed at this adorable place for only three nights but it will be our home away from home from now on when in Prescott. The place is on a 1.6 acre well loved and tended property which includes three other cabins so a family of several could consider it for a family reunion easily. The hosts think of everything and each small touch just says love and pride. It is right in town and we would not have believed that we could feel so secluded and away from the world but they have achieved it with their property. Thank you to two lovely people. We will be back.
10.0 / 10.0
The owners go all out. There was nothing to be needed in the cabin. If you forget a tooth brush, well there is a new one there. All the soap and cleaning stuff you need. The appliances all work great and the home itself you can tell is well cared for. Quiet at night.. great TV and internet available. Only thing i can say is that one of the two beds was a little short.. probably fine for a kid or a shorter adult (im 6') but the main bed was fine. You get to park right utside the home.
10.0 / 10.0
We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very charming. There was a garden area in front of the cottage with a creek running through. The hosts met us to check in and gave us some recommendations for tourist activities and restaurants. The location was only a mile from the historic downtown.

2nd time staying....didnt think it could be any better than last time give it was awesome....but once again, amazing kind welcoming people. Cottage is immaculate. The housekeeper is lovely. The owners are lovely. Cant wait to go again.
10.0 / 10.0
Karen and Dave are terrific hosts. We didn’t really have much need for interaction with them but they always made themselves available and are very friendly. We are more city folk, rather than country folk, so the cottage was not really what we were looking for in terms of overall environment. The cottage is tucked back in a wooded acreage which offers lots of wildlife and outdoor surroundings. So if that’s what you are looking for, you will find it here. The queen size bed was comfortable; and the kitchen is well stocked with spices, condiments and cooking supplies. A water filter/pitcher was provided, as well as a great guide book for things to do in the area and restaurant recommendations. There was even a very considerate welcoming gift.
10.0 / 10.0
I loved the cottage. Will return. Lots of special touches including fresh flowers, wine, plenty of plug-ins and coffee. So convenient to all Prescott has to offer.
8.0 / 10.0
Will return. Wi-Fi was super hot! Clean. Stocked with anything you need. Secluded. Hummingbird heaven. Many sitting areas. Romantic. Dave and Karen were wonderful. Concerned about every detail. Great info book about area. There simply was nothing we could improve. That's rare. Roomy. Thanks for a great week.

Return visit for us. Lovely outdoor setting with plenty of blooms and birds. Kitchen is fully equipped. Our coffee maker even had a coffee bean grinder, which is a plus for my hubby! Dave and Karen responded quickly to any needs that we had. It is convenient to grocery and lovely Italian restaurant. An enjoyable walk for those that enjoy walking.
