The photos of this place are amazing, and they cannot even begin to do it justice. The home has 270degree views from the lanai of Kohalo, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, Hualalai (all the mountains) and an absolutely gorgeous view of the Kohalo and Kona coastline. Sunsets are absolutely phenomenal. We spent every evening and many days out there. And it's the first thing you see when you wake up and open the blinds. The home is beautifully furnished (and to theme, lots of whales everywhere!) with everything you could ask for--snorkel and beach gear is in abundance. It is very well stocked, particularly for extended stays (30+days) as required by state law.
The hosts (Fabia and Gregg) were clear communicators, delivered more than expected, repeatedly went above and beyond to replace/fix minor things that were missing (i.e. handles for the exercise machine that had gotten misplaced), and clearly know the home as their own. Warm and welcoming, they deeply share their lovely home with their guests and are very familiar with the surrounding island. Jessica, the property manager, was incredibly responsive and embodied Aloha spirit.
We made some incredible memories at the House of the Singing Whales and can't wait to return. Mahalo nui for having us!

We had a perfect time at the House of the Singing Whales. Fabia and Gregg are amazing owners that deeply cared about making our stay enjoyable from the beginning to the very end. They have raised the bar in terms of what excellence looks like and made us feel like extended family.
The view is incredibly unique due to the location and how the home is situated, allowing you to see 4 out of 5 volcanoes. The weather in this area of Kohala is more predictable, and sunny, than any other part of the Island. Coming back from a long day of exploring, staring out at that view, hopping into the pool or hot tub, with the smell of Plumeria in the air, birds singing, and listening to music on the built-in speakers on the lanai equalled bliss.
The home was spotless. It is also completely stocked to meet your needs in the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and pool. The extra fridge in the garage allowed us to stock up at Costco so we could minimize the number of trips (grab a cooler from the garage with ice packs to store frozen items for the drive back). The pool, hot tub, and garden is tended weekly and a handyman will fix anything if necessary.
The beds and beddings are comfortable, the automatic blackout blinds are a nice feature, and the bathtub is terrific. Having central air conditioning throughout allows you to escape and recover from the heat when required.
If you're thinking of an extended stay on the Big Island I can't recommend this home more. We can't wait to get back!

The pictures of the house on Vrbo are good but the actual house is amazing. The views, the pool, the bedrooms and all the amenities just make this house one of the best we have stayed in on the Kohala coast. Thanks again to the owners who are amazing and look forward to staying again when we return to the Big Island. Mahalo, Aloha.

Our vacation was absolutely magical at the House of the Singing Whales. Lovely decor, very clean, comfortable beds, and everything you need in the kitchen. Plenty of cozy beach and bath towels, snorkel gear and even yoga mats. We loved the beautiful view, sun rises and sun sets, and plumerias. Our favorite things were swimming and floating in the pool and relaxing on the lanai listening to music. We loved snorkeling at Kukio Beach and Poke bowls at Da Fish House and we took the big blue guest book with us so we didn’t miss anything. Greg and Fabia were wonderful to work with. Hope to return in the future.

We loved staying at this property for a month. We started to call it home. The lanai, pool and view were amazing! The master bedroom, in particular has an amazing view and is enjoyable to watch the sunrise. The property was filled with all your beach and pool equipment. The property owners and manager were always very prompt with our questions.

House of Singing Whales
Great place in great location. Having stayed in the area before,
I know it's just in the best location on Big Island. Near Hawaii's best beach - Hapuna - great towns like Waimea and Hawi - and not a long drive into Kona - we love it here.
The pool is a nice addition, I wish we would have more space around it to lie in the sun. Nicely appointed - the owners thought of everything.

Lovely house, great visit
After 2020 the idea of a month in Hawaii seemed like a terrific idea, and the House of Singing Whales was just the place. We loved the views of the sunrise coming up between the volcanoes, the dolphins cavorting in the water below, and the sunsets we enjoyed every night we were there. The kitchen and grill setup was super functional: we only went out for dinner the night before we left. The property manager was very helpful in resolving any questions we had. Particularly enjoyed the pool since it is set up as a lap pool, so was able to get regular exercise while we were there. The proximity to the farm stand and Da Fish Shack in Kawaihae was great, as was the ease of getting to Hapuna Beach, which we go back to every year.

Beautiful Experience
Everything was as portrayed on the VRBO site.
The owners are very thorough, helpful and responsive. I’ve stayed at many VRBO properties but it is clear the owners here have taken extra care to provide information and amenities to maximize the experience and comfort of guests. In one sentence, the owners are great.
The house is extremely well decorated, accessorized and maintained. And the layout is very well thought out to take advantage of the outstanding views from every room. This is a beautiful house.

Beautiful private home with breathtaking views
Our stay was everything we had hoped for and more. Beautiful home with stylish decor. Beds and furniture so comfortable. Immaculately clean and everything so organized to locate well stocked kitchen items. Extremely well stocked gear to borrow for snorkeling and beach. Short drive to lovely snorkeling areas and beautiful beaches. Gorgeous pool with spacious lanai for relaxing or eating dinner outside. Vast ocean views that you never get tired of looking at. Very clear and easy communication with owners at time of booking and accessible, prompt, and warm welcome and communication with manager. Great Wifi as we had to make this a work/ vacation also. My husband, myself, and our teen daughter had a wonderful experience. So much space and privacy that we could not get if we had rented a condo. Just what we needed to recharge and unwind after not being able to travel for so long! Thank you House of Singing Whales!

Most amazing house with ocean view
Beautiful home with stunning view of the Hawaiian coast! Great location between Kona and Hawi and Waimea. House is clean and very well stocked with anything you need to make meals. If you prefer to walk into town, etc this may not be the property for you, but if you are looking to relax and be in a location closer to several areas of interest, then I highly recommend!

Absolutely incredible view!
Truly, the view is stunning. You can see so much of the island, three mountains and a vast coastline, plus so much ocean! It’s the perfect perch for whale watching. We stayed during the winter and saw tons of whales everyday! It was really incredible. Also we often saw pods of spinner dolphins. We spent so much time just lounging on the lanai enjoying the view. The pool and hot tub are great too! The house is lovely and very comfortable. We enjoyed watching movies on the big screen and listening to music that plays throughout the house and lanai areas via a Sonos sound system.
The master bedroom suite has a walk-in shower and comfortable king size bed. Electronically operated blinds, a flat screen TV and the Sonos sound system. The two other bedrooms are very nice, have comfortable beds, and share a nice full bathroom that’s across the hall. The third bathroom is located in the garage and we never used it.
We love the location. Very close to the best beaches, the resort areas that have top notch restaurants and good shopping, and Waimea and Hawi are close as well. Our favorite was brunch at Browns Beach House on Sunday mornings!
We had a great experience and will likely stay here again. The road noise from the highway below can be bothersome at times. The house has central AC so inside with the windows closed it’s not noticeable. While outside the sound from the pool fountains is lovely and can mask the road sounds. Combined with the terrific house, the view and the location make this a 5 star property!!

Etherial Views - Just Amazing, Comforatable Luxury
We were stunned by the views. These views are incomparable to 99% of all properties in this area. 180+ degree ocean views with sunsets over the ocean every day!
Everyone had a great time. The house is nicely laid out for privacy and easy access to the lanai and pool.
We can't wait to come back!

Most stunning place we have stayed in our 42 years of marriage
The views and the environment for a family are unrivaled in our experience. My wife and I stayed there with our oldest son and his wife and their five children, ages 4 to 14. The sweep of the ocean and shoreline and mountains can be seen from most every room in the house, especially the master bedroom. My wife especially enjoyed still being able to see it while working in the kitchen because of the wall of glass sliding doors toward the ocean. The view is even better from the lanai as we watched the children in the pool (usually at least an hour per day). We enjoyed eating on the outside, covered patio most nights (the mosquitoes chased us away a few nights - it rained the first night we were there and the mosquitoes came 10 days later.) There was almost always a breeze; sometimes the wind was quite strong. Most days were blue most of the day with a high of about 84 degrees. My wife loved the tasteful interior decorating and art. The house was very well supplied with pool toys, high quality video screens, cooking utensils, and dishes. The children LOVED playing ping-pong in the garage! I didn't mind beating them also -- sometimes I was merciful ;-) . We just barely fit, with 9 of us, but the personalities of the children made it so that everybody was happy with their "place". We actually were gone more than half the days: hiking, snorkling, fishing off the shore in front of the house, the botanical garden and zoo and Volcano National Park (on the other side of the island -- about 1.5 - 2 hours drive in light traffic), and driving up to see the observatories on Mauna Loa (our son works on a project there); we didn't get to Mauna Kea -- next time!
The owners told us they plan to do some ambiance upgrades starting now, but we don't see how they can improve its ambiance.

Perfect family getaway
House of Singing Whales was the perfect location for our family getaway. This beautiful place felt like home. We couldn’t wait to get back to the house for pool time, sunsets, music, and dinner on the lanai! Every bedroom with a beautiful view! The perfect family bonding place. The week we got home, we even bought an outdoor ping pong table!

Amazing vacation
We absolutely loved staying at this home. Everything was exactly as described. The home was incredibly well supplied with everything we needed. We loved the location and coming home at the end of the day for a nice swim and amazing sunsets. You can not beat the view. The owners were great to work with and communication times and the whole transaction was seamless. We would definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful place in paradise!
The first steps through the door of The House of Singing Whales make you wish you had booked a longer stay. The design and furnishings are beautiful. There are ocean views from every room.
Fabia has a wonderful sense of how to furnish the expansive space; everything you might need is there to insure your relaxation and comfort.
The gem of the house is the large pool in front. We loved floating there while searching the ocean for passing dolphins.
There is a great feeling of privacy even though beaches and stores are a short drive.
We are already thinking about and planning our next stay.

Vacation of a Lifetime!
Spectacular, awesome views words just can’t express! We stayed at House of Singing Whales this July with our cousin and their kids. This home was perfect for a family like ours. Everyone had a private room and direct access to the pool, lanai and living areas. The pool and jacuzzi were so great! We spent days just lounging in the pool and spa, and the scenery never got old (including dolphins playing in the ocean!). We had everything we needed for the beach and road trips – floaties, beach chairs and mats, coolers, even a rolling wagon!! The home inside was beautiful too with Bahama-like wood and rattan furniture, artwork and gorgeous Hawaiian paintings. We enjoyed music on the lanai, the large 70” TV at night to watch movies, and stargazing from the pool and backyard before bed. Talk about some comfy beds! The Master even has a Sleep Number bed which my wife and I really need at home! We hope to stay at House of Singing Whales sometime again in the near future!

Fabulous home with stunning views!
We stayed at the House of the Singing Whales in June and enjoyed every moment of our stay! The views from the home really are spectacular! The house is spacious and nicely decorated with beautiful artwork as well. The owners, Gregg and Fabia, are extremely nice, promptly answered any question that I had, and and truly thought of everything that a guest may need when they set up this dream home. We especially appreciated the use of the beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, cart, and boogie boards as we spent a lot of time exploring all of the fabulous beaches. Hapuna Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, is nearby. We really liked the location of the house and felt that we could drive to Hawi, Pololu Valley, Mauna Kea, Waimea, and Waipio Valley easily. Da Fish House in Kawaihae is a few minute drive down the hill. It was super fun picking out fresh fish each day for our dinner. And the ice cream at Anuenue Ice Cream was definitely a favorite stop! When we were not out exploring the island, we enjoyed the pool and found ourselves grilling out most evenings and having dinner on the lovely lanai where the sunsets are simply spectacular. This truly is a dream home and we cannot wait to go back! I highly recommend this home. Thank you Greg and Fabia for the use of your beautiful home and for providing us a place to enjoy a wonderful family vacation together and making memories to last a lifetime!

Outstanding VRBO RENTAL
We stayed there for five weeks and enjoyed every day. It has very impressive view of the ocean and the southwestern area of the Big Island, The three bedrooms, the living room and the lanai all have direct access the the 40 foot long pool. The kitchen is very well equipped to prepare any kind of dinner you want. The location inside the gated community means good security and quiet environment. The home is about 30 miles from the airport and Costco. We spent almost every morning coffee time on the lanai watching the tugboats and their container barges come and go. In the evening we normally had dinner on the lanai after watching the sunsets over the ocean. All in all a very relaxing place to stay.

Stunning home that enhanced our whole trip!
This home was everything we had dreamed of and more. It is in a beautiful and very quiet gated community. The location of the house itself is perfect. Absolutely stunning views of the coastline and the mountain foothills from virtually every room in the house! Once you can take your eyes off the amazing views, you will find yourself in a truly beautiful home. This home, which very quickly felt like our home, is beautifully and tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture and lovely artwork throughout. The home was very clean and extremely well appointed. The owners, have obviously taken great care in stocking the home with everything their visitors might need! The kitchen is very well equipped for any kind of cooking you may want to do, and there is a nice selection of spices available. Anything you could imagine or need was there. We made good use of the exercise equipment, beach chairs and the coolers you will find in the garage. We found the owners, Gregg and Fabia, very pleasant to work with. They would very quickly respond to any questions we had, and provided a very comprehensive "where to find everything" list as well as suggestions for local shopping and attractions. As beautiful and comfortable as the house was, when we weren't out exploring the island, we spent most of our time out on the lanai area. We ate all our meals at the outdoor table, and most evenings made good use of the grill. The pool is clean and refreshing and is large enough for swimming laps. We spent several evenings just floating around in the pool watching the stars...amazing, and the milky way is easily visible! A few highlights for us... I loved waking up to see the lights of Waikoloa Village in the distance. As the sun came up, it painted the surrounding countryside with a wide array of colors that was different almost every day! Several mornings, usually between 7:30 and 9 am, we were treated to a pod of spinner dolphins swimming close along the shore towards Kawaihae Harbor...grab the binoculars (provided)!. The sunsets from the home are stunning, and we made sure to miss very few! We loved the location.... a bit away from all the "touristy" stuff, but not too far if you want that. We love Waimea, the closest town, and looked forward to the farmers markets there (check them out early in your stay!) Would we recommend this home? Yes, highly! Would we go back? In a heartbeat! We are already planning a return visit :) Mahalo to Gregg and Fabia!

Gorgeous views, beautifully furnished and well-appointed for every conceivable convenience
My husband and I recently stayed at the “House of the “Singing Whales” at Kohala by the Sea development in Kamuela , Hawaii for 5 months.
I found the house to be beautifully furnished and well-appointed with every conceivable convenience.... Plenty of linens, a fully stocked chef’s kitchen , comfortable beds, pool toys, extra fridge in garage , wine refrigerator, massage table, a crib and children’s toys should you need/want them! Frankly, you name it, they thought of it and provided the house with it!! Plenty of cleaning supplies and dry goods as well. We simply unpacked and enjoyed the beautiful view!
Compared to other rentals this place is a dream!
