About this house rental

Check-in directly & begin enjoying your stay immediately! Memories at the Beach is a spacious updated home located a 5-minute walk to the main pier and shops and 5 minutes to the back river fishing pier and kayak launch. The home was constructed during the 1950's as a Mid-Century Modern during the time that Ronald Reagan was hosting the General Electric Theater and was considered a "G.E. Gold Medallion Home". The home was purchased in 2008 and the renovation was completed in 2009 with improvements made each year. NEW mattresses in each room. While preserving the charm of the home the owners made improvements by adding a new metal roof with skylights, bamboo blinds, a bathroom with a large step-in shower, skylight & glass blocks that allow the sun to shine inside while maintaining privacy. The hall bath has a shower/tub combo with a skylight. The 2 bathrooms are convenient to all 3 bedrooms. All 3 bedrooms have queen size beds and there is a twin bed in one bedroom. The cottage offers 2 living spaces with new large-screen T.V.s, high-speed internet-free WiFi. The floor plan flows allowing ample room for 2 families to have their own space. The dining room is separate. The kitchen is fully equipped to enjoy a meal should one decide to cook or grill the catch of the day on the charcoal grill in the backyard. The home faces east and the front porch is shaded by grapefruit trees planted by one of the original owners many years ago. The back porch faces west and is just a few steps from the enclosed outdoor shower that is heated. A stack washer and dryer is just off the back entry. ALL NEW MATTRESSES. The cottage is pet friendly with a small extra fee. and Guests are responsible for any damages and will be required to "poopy scoop" before leaving. The backyard is fenced with a chain-link fence. The entire home including the porches are NO SMOKING. 2 cars have plenty of room to park 3 cars will have room if they are not all large. The front entry room has a love seat, 2 recliners, a desk, chairs, and room for a printer should a guest wish to bring one with them. It is visible in the kitchen. Compact yet fully complete the kitchen features a cooktop, full-size refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Cookware including a crockpot, pots, pans dishes, small appliances, glassware & utensils. The dining room is spacious and has a buffet that allows for serving friends and family with casual beach fashion. The den has a sofa, chairs, fireplace with electric insert, a new larger screen t.v., a bookcase with local authors and history as well as a selection of beach reading fiction. The cottage will be ready to enjoy upon arrival. Beds will be made and towels furnished except for beach towels. The next morning's coffee is furnished along with real creamer. When leaving the guests are asked to pick up after their pets, leave the beds unmade, and wet towels in the bathrooms or nearby laundry room. Housekeeping will take care of the rest! If you have stayed with us in the past through Mermaid Cottages you know how wonderful this cottage is. If you have been a previous guest please let us know for a discount. We continue to strive for happy guests. If you are concerned about having to cancel a stay for whatever reason please consider travel insurance. We will be happy to discuss the cost and possibly adjust our rate to help with that security. When booking please know that you will be corresponding with one of the owners from the time the reservation is booked, during your stay or afterward. We enjoy personally answering questions about the cottage, Tybee Island or Savannah. Each guest is given their personal lockbox code to enter the cottage upon arrival. That code and information regarding the cottage will be emailed to the guest making the reservation just before their arrival. For concerns regarding the COVID-19 please know that the health and safety of our guests are a #1 priority. Porter House Clean has been caring for our cottage for several years and always receives rave reviews. They will be adding additional measures to ensure the cottage is safe for guests. My family and I had a wonderful stay here. The place was clean and had all we need to stay comfortable for our trip. Communication with Kay was without issue. Not sure if I will be returning to Tybee Island anytime in the near future but will be looking for this place if I do.

We had 4 adults and 1 toddler. Our kiddo loved the layout- she probably ran a hundred laps through the house. The beds were comfortable and there were lovely little touches throughout that made our stay pleasant. We easily cooked meals and there was plenty of seating. My husband loved the US Navy and patriotic memorabilia throughout the house. It had everything we needed and the location was great- just a few minutes walk to the beach and restaurants. The owners were very responsive and checked in on ys throughout our stay. I was sad to go after a pleasant stay.

Wonderful communication with Kay about the impending weather that thankfully cleared out a day before we were to arrive. The cottage had everything we needed and lots of room for the 3 of us. We spent a lot of our time enjoying the front porch and made some great memories. Thank you!

We wanted to visit SCAD and turn the trip into a week-long vacation. There were four of us (two adults and two teens), along with three dachshunds. This house was the only one that was available for the dates we needed and was willing to accommodate three small dogs. The owner was very communicative and the house was nicely laid out. Everyone had privacy, with the teens sharing their own bathroom. My only complaint is that I wish we were allowed to turn down the AC lower than 72 degrees at night. For someone with hot flashes and others used to it being cooler, it was pretty warm. :) Overall, a positive experience that I would do again!!

The house is as beach like as you can get. The location is close enough to walk or bike to anywhere on the island. The private outdoor shower with hot and cold water is amazing. My family enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to visit and rebook again for more memories at the beach. Highly recommend

Wow! We absolutely enjoyed every minute of our trip to Tybee Island. It was my husband, our three young adult children and me along with our doggies. It was the perfect place for all of us. The accommodations were wonderful. Great little backyard that is fenced in for the pups. The location is fabulous! Just a few blocks from the beach. Just a very short walk. We just felt at home at this cottage. We can’t wait to return! Thank you so much for sharing your property with us.

The property was clean and large enough for everyone to have their own space. We had a great 4th of July with a nice fireworks show off the pier. The ocean was restful and beautiful. The location was close to the beach which made it easy to get to. Many restaurants to choose from. There is an IGA small market for items and a Publix grocery within 10 miles. Savannah is only 25 minutes away and has alot to see there We ate there and also went to the riverwalk area which was neat to see.

Just writing as a thank you to Kay for her hospitality and for the use of her home! Kay was a pleasure to talk to and very responsive to all of our questions and needs. This vintage house was perfect for us . We had four people and with two family room areas and two screened porches, there was plenty of space for together and alone time. Our intent was to spend time in Savannah and in Tybee. The house was perfect for that. We were outside the hustle and bustle of the city and were then able to enjoy the quiet weekdays at the beach. We traveled into Savannah to enjoy its beauty and attractions. It was an easy 30 minute drive. The Tybee beaches were within easy walking distance.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while staying in this amazing cottage. It was perfect for two couples. We had separate space when we needed it and a central gathering area in the kitchen and dining room. Kitchen is fully stocked and easy to navigate. Loved the location to the beach and Kay was awesome to work with. We would highly recommended her home to anyone looking to travel to Tybee Island. Loved it there.

This is a spacious property. Our 2 adult children were unable to come but would of enjoyed the nice comfortable beds. Only a couple blocks from the beach & restaurants. Our host had special extras. Great place!
