The house was very clean. Kitchen had enough essentials to prepare meals there. The window units kept upstairs cool for sleeping. Great fire pit area!

The house is very nice and clean. Plenty of space for our family of 5. Minor complaint would be the outside shrubs around the house were overgrown and some weeds could be pulled.

Very nice warm and welcoming house. Very clean! We had everything we needed in every room. The couches and beds are comfortable. There is even a bunch of pamphlets, books and magazines on traveling in the area. I would have preferred that the one bathroom upstairs not be ensuite to the master bedroom. But overall we are very satisfied and would come back

We had a wonderful time staying at this wonderfully renovated farmhouse. We had 3 generations staying together and we had no problems with bathrooms or any sleeping quarter issues as mentioned in other reviews. House was well maintained and we truly enjoyed the outside fire pit! Large dining and living rooms were a definite plus. We even had deer visit every morning and you could see the Milky Way from the backyard! Truly magical experience!

Nothing beats MDI and staying at Ian’s place was wonderful
The location is perfect to access all the fun MDI has to offer.
Eating out can be a pocket punch so the well appointed kitchen and grill are a plus
Can’t wait to go back

Great size house with plenty of room for our family of 4, nice kitchen, dining room, living room, and bedrooms. No A/C, but my husband is from New England, so that was expected. Plenty of fans to cool down. Great to have a king size bed in the master. Very close to some trails and areas of Acadia, but 25 minutes to Bar Harbor. On the 2nd floor, the bathroom is in the master bedroom, which was fine for us with smaller kids, but might be an inconvenient setup for older kids or multigenerational families. There is a full bath on the first floor,

There are 3 BR, all on the second floor. There are 2 BR, one is ensuite (in the bedroom with a king). The other bathroom is down the stairs, down a hall, through the kitchen, almost out the back door. It is a full bathroom, but still, if you are in the 2nd or 3rd, having to trudge down the stairs to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night is a royal pain. What is even more galling is that an ad/house info that are incredibly detailed in every possible respect would somehow leave out this important fact. I would not stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. We spent 3 days enjoying the area; hiking in Acadia, browsing shops in Bar Harbor and eating lots of Maine lobster-(btw, Beal’s in Southwest Harbor lobster rolls 10/10).
The location is nice with a spacious, tranquil yard. A few deer wandered through the yard briefly at dawn and dusk, along with many songbirds. It felt relaxing.
The cottage is roomy with lots of seating, beds were comfortable and kitchen was well stocked. We would stay again.

Great place to stay in southwest harbor. About 20 minutes from the busy town of Bar Harbor. Quiet neighborhood. Would recommend staying here and the host Ian was great with communications. Id only recommend more toilet paper (maybe 2 instead of 1) in the bathrooms.

This was a great place to stay. It's easy to get to and the location is awesome! The home was clean and the beds were comfy. There's a nice yard with a fire pit. The kitchen had all we needed for cooking dinners and prepping lunches for hikes. There is a small grocery store nearby(it closes early) and a few gas station/convenient stores close-by as well. I think our favorite thing was the public beach access we found about a mile down the seawall road. It's rocky, so bring some sneakers. But it's a wonderful spot to just sit and watch the sunrise in the morning, or just look at the mountains on the other side of the water. Very quiet and peaceful. We would not hesitate to book here again.

Rented this property for 3 days for the second part of our trip in Maine. It was perfect for our family of four.
Wanted the convenience of staying in a home with all the amenities a house has to offer. Downtown Bar Harbor is about 17 miles away. The property is located in Southwest Harbor. Even though we didn’t get time to explore the town of Southwest Harbor we always enjoy our time in Maine! Can’t wait to revisit Maine again!

Amazing location and very comfortable house. The only things that were odd were only full bath on 2nd floor (where all bedrooms located) is in master & very difficult to find the house from the street - it would be helpful to have a more clearly marked house number since privacy shrubs block the entire house

Comfortable home/beds. Just blocks to walk to dock and harbor views. The hosts provided excellent recommendations for hikes, restaurants and sailing.

We enjoyed the quieter side. The hikes, the restaurants, the scenery. Bass Harbor lighthouse is very close and is that iconic Maine postcard.
Deer in the yard every morning. Easy to get around the area and not bad getting to core Acadia or Bar harbor.
Thanks!

Very clean place. The home was simple, but had all the things needed for a comfortable stay. I appreciated the nice stove, sharp knives, and comfortable dining room table. The fire pit in the backyard was a really peaceful spot as well.

This house worked out splendidly for our family with adult children. Great location close to the national park and many hiking spots.
Perfect place to spread out, enjoy a home cooked meal and play cards. We appreciated the well equipped kitchen and the comfortable beds. Fire pit area was another great family gathering addition. Plenty of space for yard games as well.

Visited with family, including my wife and 3 sons (21,19,15). They loved the place after a long day of hiking. Local restaurants were great, grocery store nearby and the location was 30 minutes from Bar Harbor and 10 minutes from Western Acadia (Echo Lake, Acadia Mtn). Appliances seemed new, especially for laundry. I would recommend for a family interested in quiet side instead of Bar Harbor.

Trip was better than expected, the weather was absolutely gorgeous the week we were there. House was great for 4 adults. While there’s not much you can do about the 2nd bathroom location, it was nice to have 2 bathrooms. I would suggest MORE TOWELS as 1 per person is not enough even with the washer/dryer. Ian was great-had great recommendations for eating & activities, he even answered my text in the middle of the night when the smoke alarms went off - fresh batteries installed the next morning which was a holiday. First time in Maine, can’t wait to go back!

This home was great for a quiet family vacation. The kitchen had all the essentials and the home was very clean. I would definitely recommend this property.

We had a great stay at this property. It is in a picturesque location on Mt. Desert Island with easy access to Acadia National Park and avoids the hubbub of Bar Harbor. Inside was beautiful and everything we were looking for on a trip to New England in the fall. We stayed with our two boys and had plenty of interior space with a big yard to run around in.

Excellent stay! Property owner very responsive. We called upon check-in with a small issue and Ian handled it professionally and quickly. Highly recommend this property for staying when visiting the Southwest Harbor/Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park area.

This residence is a gem!
The kitchen has every cooking and prep utensil imaginable or needed. The house is spacious, the dining room and kitchen are roomy, offering plenty of space in which to move around. The bedrooms are all on the second floor; each with beds that were amazingly comfy. The linens were clean, fresh and the choice of an unscented laundering product for the linens and towels was a plus for us. The washer and dryer are super sized with a folding table adjoining it. The couches and chair in the LR are leather, thus spotless. There's great cross ventilation throughout the house, window box fans are available if needed. The art work throughout the house is unique and was appreciated, someone's an artist. . Wi-Fi service was excellent, no issues whatsoever. There's tons of space in the backyard for kids to run and for frisbee tosses. The sunsets in the backyard, making evenings extra special with gorgeous purple and pink sunlight glows in the trees. Deer use the property as a cross walk, they're stunning! There are smoke detectors throughout the house. Good outside lighting after dark. Owner was super responsive and easy to contact. There are beautiful, blossoming scrubs along the back deck with oodles of butterflies. There's an IGA near by, a Hannaford's in Bar Harbor, and a roadside eatery near by that offers lobster dinners for $14.95. The location of the house offers easy access to Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Bass Harbor Lighthouse and of course easy access to Acadia. This residence is in Manset so you'll need to drive about 2 miles to get to Southwest Harbor, no big deal. The neighborhood is quiet, we never saw a neighbor. One thing of note, the residence does sit on a fairly heavily traveled route so it can get noisy at certain times of the day, but you'll be out so you won't notice that. Sips 2.0, Eat-A-Pita, Beal's Lobster, and The Upper Deck are all a short drive for lunch and dinner. Best blueberry pie is at Parson's in Bar Harbor, best ice cream parlor in MDI Ice Cream in Bar Harbor, best breakfast with super fast service is That Way Café in Bar Harbor and best coffees are in PERKS in Bar Harbor. Least known and rarely crowded harbor for beachcombing and low tide finds is Coimpass Harbor in Bar Harbor.

We enjoyed our stay in Manset. The house was very roomy and had a wonderful side yard for two young boys to cut loose. The front porch was our favorite room in the house! The location is very convenient and everything was easy to access - especially the quiet side of Acadia National Park.

Acadia in July
A great week with the family in Southeast Harbor. We enjoyed the tranquility of the house, but the proximity to town. The house was clean and comfortable and the family of deer in the garden was a bonus.

Peaceful stay with family
The home was a perfect setup for me and my family, including a 1 and 5 YO. Very clean and comfortable. The yard was nice for the kiddos to play on and we enjoyed the mother deer and her two fawns who frequented the property. Great location - quick drive to SW Harbor with shops and restaurants and also a quick hop to hiking trails nearby. We love staying in the SW Harbor (quiet side) and this was a lovely spot for us. Thanks to the hosts :-)

Family Trip to New England & Mt. Desert Island
This is a well appointed, updated and comfortable home that easily slept all 5 of us - my husband & I and our 3 adult kids. This home is located in Southwest Harbor (on the quiet side) but easily accessible to the entire Island. The living areas are spacious and comfortable and we loved the fire pit out back (with wood provided)! Experienced a small glitch on the front end of our stay, but the property owner graciously and generously made everything right quickly and kindly. Thank you again! We made great memories with our stay here and would gladly stay here again! Highly recommend!

Perfect getaway
So happy with our stay in South Harbor. Very clean house, beautiful property, quiet neighborhood. Deer were even seen in the backyard! So cool. Close enough to everything. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect getaway
This was quite possibly the cleanest (my number one priority) VRBO we have ever stayed in. The owners have rehabbed this older farmhouse, making it tasteful, without loosing it's character. The beds were extremely comfortable and the house was supplied with everything we needed. The location, on the "quiet" side of the island was just what we were looking for (close to everything) and we were eager to get back to it after a days hiking to relax on the closed in porch. We had a great time!

Great stay.
This place was very nice for us 4 adults. Good location. The bath on the main floor for the second 2 bedrooms upstairs was a bit of a problem.

Cozy Manset Farmhouse
Absolutely loved staying in this beautifully updated farmhouse, conveniently located near Acadia National Park. Everything we needed was on hand. The lovely cottage garden and backyard fire pit was a great place to relax at days end. Would definitely stay here again on a return trip to Acadia. Ian answered pre-travel questions promptly, and provided helpful directions and house info long before our scheduled arrival. House was immaculate when we checked in. Very happy we chose this property.

Great house!!
This house was clean and spacious, the Bedrooms were good size. The house was close to many attractions, and very very quite neighborhood. You do need to plan on bringing extra essentials with you like toilet paper and such but the kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. Definitely will go back next year.

Great spot for a fall visit to Maine!
The Cottage did not disappoint, and Ian made it virtually stress free - exceptionally clean, well equipped with quality appliances and fixtures, convenient to SW Harbor, good restaurant choices, and the Acadia activities.
The massive back yard was a spectacle in itself - blooming hydrangea bushes, deer crossing from the backwoods one morning, and especially the firepit area that became a favorite spot for Happy Hour.
Wifi reception was excellent, but TV requires your personal streaming options. (no antenna or cable available)
The only inconvenience to be aware of is the location of the second bath on the bottom floor, if being used by any of the bedrooms which are all located upstairs.
A well managed property...hope we can someday return!

Time with old friends
Perfectly clean and lovely stay. Main purpose of trip was to visit Acadia, but staying in Southwest Harbor gave us a bigger appreciation of the area. Plus one of our favorite restaurants was right there!
The home easily met our expectations. Communication was easy and the home was very comfortable and everything was in great working order. Would be very happy to return!!
