Perfect house for a large active family.
6.0
We loved the location and the home had a nice feel to it. We did have some problems with the AC not working for the entirety of the trip and it was over 90 degrees outside. The owner failed to get the unit fixed while we were there which was terribly disappointing since we figured out it was most likely the capacitor the first night. (this is an easy fix for anyone that is a little handy). Beyond this there were just a few small electrical issues with outlets and light. It was a nice home and had a good outdoor grill.

Our family spent 6 nights at this beautiful home located in Wawona, inside the park. It was everything we hoped for, AND MORE!! Our hosts were awesome. The hosts have done an extraordinary job in building this home.

We stayed in this special home in Yosemite with our family of 7 adults and 2 children. We had plenty of room for a 5 day stay. The kitchen was very well equipped. There were extra towels, pillows and blankets if wanted or needed. It was a bonus to park inside the garage. The AC, not readily available at all lodging in the park, was very much needed with the high temperatures during our stay in July.
It is a drive, beautiful one at that, to get to the valley loop but we mapped out our daily excursions with various stops each day to break up the drive for the younger members of the family. If you are going to Yosemite please stay inside the park gates as this house is located. The time in line waiting to come through the gates would have been unfathomable during the height of the summer season.
The communications with Dan and Chris were exceptional and much appreciated.

Our party included two grandparents and two families of 2 spouses and 2 teenagers for a total of 10. We enjoyed our stay at Summit House. Because we had a reservation and arrived relatively late in the day, we had no problem getting into the Yosemite National Park. We spent one day in Yosemite Valley, one day in Mariposa Grove and took a day trip to Glacier Point. An unexpected bonus was swimming in the South Fork of the Merced River at two spots relatively near Summit House. The house was spacious and interesting from an architectural standpoint. The kids (young and old) enjoyed games of bumper pool!

We had a great stay at the Summit House. Group of 12 adults and teens. House was well appointed, comfortable and location was amazing. Pine Tree market 1/4 mile away was convenient for some groceries and there is a fun swimming hole with a water down only 1/2 mile away. Highly recommend and we would stay again.

Our group of 8 adults totally enjoyed this house! We were there for 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend. The park was crowded so it was a big comfort to be inside the gates and not needing a reservation. There are 4 very comfortable bedrooms, a great kitchen, and several wonderful gathering areas (inside and outside). The location is somewhat remote so do yourself a favor and arrive during daylight!

Summit House exceeded our expectations. Our group consisted of 11 adult men all of whom are in our 70’s. All of our needs were met. It was great being in the park. I’d recommend Summit House without hesitation!!

We stayed this home for eight nights in November 2023. It has the advantage of being located inside of the parks south entrance gate. It is close to Mariposa Grove and a couple of trails in the Wanona area. There is a small market in the neighborhood which is quite handy. It is approximately 40 minute driving from this house into the Yosemite Valley. The house is large and well-equipped for all indoor activities, including a downstairs game area with bumper pool. The kitchen is very well equipped, although the pots and pans are worn out. Two bedrooms are on the main floor with the kitchen and living room and two more bedrooms are down below on the ground floor. Being able to park in the garage is a plus. There were some minor issues with heating as the batteries in the thermostats were depleted, but we were able to self correct these. The host was responsive to all inquiries. Be advised that the entire house is carpeted, and those are sensitive to dust may be affected by this.

Lots of room and loved the layout of the house with lots of different different levels. There is everything you need for a family to gather and relax after a full day of hiking and activities in Yosemite, which you are in.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Summit House. We enjoyed that it was inside the park gates, which helped expedite getting around inside the park during our visit. The house accommodated our group well, and we enjoyed being able to cook and eat at the house and have a special gathering as we were at Yosemite for a memorial for a loved one. This house was in good shape and had everything we needed. I would recommend this to other folks considering a stay inside Yosemite Park.

We had our family up in Wawona for 4 days. Nice home with plenty of room and well supplied. Had small problem with the air conditioner, but the management company responded quickly. Would definitely recommend.

This house had ample number of bedrooms/beds and common spaces for our family. Very comfortable. The owner was responsive to any questions we had. I would recommend this property for a family gathering.

Our family has stayed at the Summit House many times, and we absolutely love it. The multiple levels are perfect for a large family or two families to stay together but have enough space. One consideration- the driveway leading up to the property is steep and there are many stairs, so older family members may have a harder time. The kitchen has everything needed (including a new crock pot) and two large fridge/freezers. The only thing I’d change are the mattresses- they are very firm and we are used to a softer mattress. We loved our stay at the Summit House and hope to come back soon!

We have been to Yosemite more than 20 times in the last 10 years and I must admit this is one of the best places we have stayed. Amazing architecture, amazing view, exceptional cleanliness.

Yosemite trip vacation
We vacationed in this home late June-early july with three parents and 7 kids aged 19-3. The house was wonderful. Being inside the park boundaries is great! The neighborhood the home is in has a small
Market just down the street with many items and a park ranger was at this market most evenings doing fun programs. Would definitely rent this house again!

Property is great and in a great location inside the park.
Great property in a great location. The house needs some maintenance as the sliding door leading on to the deck was off the track and the door latch was broken. Also there were nail heads protruding from the deck. These are minor issues and were managable for our stay but should be addressed. Overall a great visit.

This is a great property to base yourself at for exploring the Yosemite area. Plenty of room for people to spread out in the house with living rooms and lofts on 3 levels. Clean and comfortable!

Wonderful home. Great history. Totally 80’s.
It was a good location for traveling to the Yosemite Valley as well as Bass lake. Helpful folks in the community. We found a lovely waterfall just minutes from the house.

Elegant. Comfortable home great for large family
Enjoyed our stay…comfortable and beautiful.
Had no hot water until we figured out how to light the pilot just before the property manager got back to us on day two. It’s not hard if you read instructions.

Awesome family holiday
The house is stunning and because of multi levels there are many places for alone/quiet activities as well as comfortable group spaces. The kitchen is exceedingly well equipped even for a Thanksgiving dinner.

Great space for a large family group
Our whole family appreciated the architecture, the floor plan, the multiple decks, etc. in this beautiful well-equipped cabin that afforded lots of privacy at the top of a quiet neighborhood. The hosts were understanding and patient with questions I had!

wonderful home
This was a beautifully located home with ample space for our group of 10. Being inside Yosemite Park was a big help to avoid lines too. There is a market down the street which came in very handy.
The home itself was well stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms. It would have been nice to have a tv in the living area for everyone to be able to sit together. The cleaning procedures were a little difficult, having to wash your dishes and empty the dishwasher before leaving, but overall a wonderful home with responsive host and management. We really enjoyed our stay!

June 2021 Wawona
very nice house. spacious. well-stocked kitchen. air conditioning was a huge plus since it was over 90 degrees our first three days. it takes about 45 minutes to get into Yosemite Valley on somewhat winding roads. the house is in a serene location surrounded by wilderness, with a small market down the street with most necessities. the house could have been cleaned better before our arrival. there is dark green carpet throughout and it obviously had not been vacuumed recently. also many of the window blinds were broken, and could not be opened. another roller shade in the kitchen area fell off the roller to the ground when I opened it. I emailed the management company about the blinds, and initially had a response and then never heard from them again. I contacted them later to ask about the internet router which kept going out on us. again I never heard back. we also had to call the owners on our drive up to get the code for the lockbox, which was not sent yet. but Yosemite is gorgeous, we had great hikes and a great time.

Thanksgiving in Yosemite
Great spot inside the park to launch hikes and biking. Close to the Sequoia’s Wawona Grove. And golf if open. A bit of a drive to valley all within the park. Great house for a big group in one of the only communities inside the park. Corner market is a short walk.

Disappointed
Disappointed. Abandoned by the management company and the owner. After numerous calls we received no resolution to an ineffective heating system. Two days later, we discovered that PG&E was cutting power in 4 hours (6pm)! Our last night would have been without power, and we had two young children - one being health challenged. Neither the mgmt company nor the owner could be reached. We bailed out and returned home forfeiting one night’s rental; and that’s not cheap. We paid premium rates, but ended up disappointed. Now, we don’t blame the homeowner for the PG&E decision, but we were not notified of the impending outage. We happened to discover it after getting Los Angeles alerts. Owner called 6 hours later at 8pm and promised to call back to discuss arrangements. Two weeks and no call back, yet. We learned that power was cut at 9:03pm for two days. We were glad to have left and didn't face a night without power. But we were disappointed to cut our trip short. That night the owner said one of the heaters would work without power (?). He also said several battery powered lanterns were in the house. Small concession. Summit House location was convenient. Being close to the Pinetree Market a big positive. School playground was appreciated. House was clean except for questionable dishes/glasses.

large Wawona home
We were a family of 8 and had a wonderful time in the home. Tons of space to feel comfortable. Relaxing on the deck in the sun after hiking, late night games at the dining table and movies too. Very comfortable home for a nice family vacation. It was about a 45 minute drive to the valley floor- but this is common in Yosemite. There is a small convenient store down the road (walking distance) and an open playground at the local school down the road. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

55th birthday trip
Beautiful home with plenty of room. We had our 3 adult kids and their guests and it was perfect. 2 king beds each with a bathroom. 2 bedrooms downstairs each with two twin beds and a shared bathroom. Plenty of deck space. Kitchen is fully stocked. We had an awesome four nights.

AMAZING host
Unfortunately we never actually got to stay in this home. The Creek Fire caused Wawona to be on a state of possible evacuation. Daniel, the host, was in constant communication with us. He was very accommodating with us and fully refunded our money. Throughout our entire reservation (about 7 months) , when we had questions he replied within a few hours. We really appreciated that quick response time. Our hiking group of ten women always seemed to have questions..lol. Even though we were unable to have our anniversary vacation this year, we are confident we will book with Daniel again due to his willingness to make sure everyone enjoys his house and their vacation.
