Large farmhouse family break.
A spacious property well furnished, warm and equipped for our needs. The owner was very helpful and considerate.
For the price we were lucky to be able to find it on line. The dairy farm smells were no more than expected .
The local village was charming and had good basic stores, including a very good chippy and a helpful chemist.

The accomodation was beautiful.
The accomodation was beautiful. The front of house looks stunning when you approach it. Nice small village with really friendly people.
The upstairs of the house was very nice with a washbasin in every room and 3 good sized bathrooms. However with 4 generations on holiday where youngest was 1 and eldest was 89, we missed a downstairs toilet and there was only one washbasin downstairs which was in the kitchen!
The garden was small but nice. However the owner's dog left lots of poo so had to be careful especially with one year old.
The kitchen was adequate with washing machine and dishwasher which was really useful.
The owners were really pleasant and when the hot water was not working it was fixed on the day.
If you don't mind the flies (it was a huge working dairy farm) then this place was ideal. They did not bother us at all.
Will definitely come back again if there is a downstairs toilet available next time!

Great holiday at a wonderful location.
Great holiday at a wonderful location. Handy for visits to Sherborne, Glastenbury, Shaftesbury and Yeovil.
Fishing nearby if that is what you like.
Plenty of parking (we had 5 cars, space for a dozen on driveway !!)
Owners were very friendly and were there if you needed them but left you to your holiday.
10 adults a 7 year old and a 2 1/2 year old all had a great break.

We spent a long-weekend break at Canon Court.
We spent a long-weekend break at Canon Court. We comprised of 3 generations, the youngest was a baby of 10 months and the eldest was celebrating his 70th birthday. There was ample space for all of us, and we all enjoyed the holiday immensely.
Minor criticisms would be lack of some basic kitchen equipment such as scissors, kitchen roll, cling film, kitchen foil, oven gloves and bin liners. And no ‘welcome pack’.
Upstairs we were surprised that there were no hair dryers in any of the rooms and storage space was minimal.
Also, there was no visitors book.

We booked Canon Court for a large family get together (three generations including four children aged 10 months to 5 years) and we generally enjoyed our stay. The property was largely as described on the website although there were one or two areas for improvement. It was spacious, clean and peaceful with comfortable beds, sinks in all the bedrooms and generous easy parking which would easily accommodate 10 or more cars! The kitchen was a little small for large parties of people and provided a few challenges over self catered meals. Also there was only one small general waste bin downstairs although the (open) recycling bins in the front porch were emptied daily. Other reviewers have mentioned the issue of dog poo which sadly has yet to be addressed as we were visited several times by a friendly pooch from next door who left his calling card on the adjoining lawn, which unfortunately meant that we were unable to let our grandchildren play outside unsupervised. One other issue was the super-creaky floorboards (and squeaky door handles!) upstairs which made night-time movement a little difficult as we tried not to disturb four sleeping children. Drawer and wardrobe space in the bedrooms was also very limited. All in all though, as long as some of the issues mentioned above are addressed, we would very likely consider staying here again as the property was ideally positioned for accessing numerous attractions within an hour’s drive and was generally good value for a booking in mid-August.

Staff cleaned the cottage before they left.
Owners dog using the garden as a toilet no one cleaned up the mess, running a few times into the cottage which could have knock someone over.

We had a lovely week at Canon Court, which was spacious, clean and peaceful.
Previous reviews had stated that there was a problem with the garden furniture and with dog mess. We have to report that both these issues had been dealt with. However, we have to agree with a previous comment regarding wardrobe space, which was insufficient for visitors staying a week.
The floorboards on the first floor were also very creaky, which was embarrassing to anyone not wanting to wake up others whilst visiting the bathroom during the night. The temperature control on the showers in the two bathrooms need attention, which has been highlighted to the owner so hopefully will be rectified soon.
We would have liked the provision of more shade in the garden. Having two young children and adults who prefer shade, the only umbrella was a small one in the centre of the patio table.
Also, I’d like to emphasise that this is a working farm! As such, there are early starts with the cows - normally around 4am - and if you are in the bedrooms on the back of the house you will hear them!!!
We found the owner very helpful when needed, and amenable to any comments.

Fantastic few days at canon court farm.
Fantastic few days at canon court farm. This is a spectacular setting with loads of open fields and spaces. Six adults and seven children including 10 month old twins had a wonderful time making family memories. The only negative was the kitchen is a little dated and could have been better equipped

Really lovely farm house with very spacious rooms and very reasonably priced.
The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms all very well furnished.
The only improvements could be more applicances in the kitchen and bigger bath towels.
The village is a pretty walk, although not a lot there.
Would definitely recommend.

The booking and directions etc was brilliant.
The booking and directions etc was brilliant. The cottage was exactly what we needed for a family get together for an 80th birthday.
Rooms and bathroom ratios all worked out fine. Some of the kitchen equipment was a bit dated but functional.
Our only slight gripe was when the heating was on it was thermo hot, radiators far too hot to touch and the house too warm, but when the heating went off it soon got really chilly. We never found a thermostat.

Very good value and space for entertaining a large group.
Very good value and space for entertaining a large group. Quiet as on a farm. Beautiful on the outside and well kept on inside. Sherborne is a close drive where there are lots of pubs and shops and there are nice walks around
Things which could be improved - there were lack of some basics like kitchen roll / foil / cling film. I appreciate it is an extremely good value cottage but we didn’t expect to bring the kitchen basics which meant we couldn’t cook properly.
