About this house rental

3 bedroom, 2 bath modified cape style home tucked away in a protected, wooded, rural setting in Bar Harbor surrounded by blueberries, pines, hardwoods, and apple trees. First floor has a great room including a large kitchen and 10 foot oak dining table well equipped for creating gourmet meals or a 'shore dinner' for a crowd. Living room has a large screen TV with surround sound, ROKU, and a large selection of movies. There is an office downstairs and speedy WiFi for those who work while traveling. The first floor has a full bathroom with a shower, a utility room/pantry and a 2 car attached, heated garage. Second floor has a master bedroom with a king sized bed and a large mirrored closet, 2 additional bedrooms, each with a queen bed, full bathroom with tub and shower, and upstairs washer and dryer closet. It is fully furnished, well appointed and is dog friendly. The house is walking distance to a 3.5 mile hiking trail known as the Acadian Woods Trail and a little known trail owned by the town of Bar Harbor that meanders along the Mill Brook, both breathtakingly beautiful and dog friendly. There's a well located fire pit in the woods on the side yard for evening s'mores and storytelling. Smack-dab in the middle of Mount Desert Island, Heartwood Home has easy access to all the desirable activities Acadia National Park and the surrounding communities have to offer including hiking and biking trails, sand beach, clear freshwater lakes for kayaking boating and swimming, horse carriage rides, whale watching, boat rides and site seeing tours. We are 10 minutes to Bar Harbor, 5 minutes to at least 2 park entrances, 12 minutes to Northeast Harbor, 15 minutes to Southwest Harbor and 15 minutes to Sand Beach.

Home was very nice size for our family of 6. Large dining room table to play games, ample furniture in the living room and fans nice large yard for kids to play and we saw deer and turkey in the backyard. . Would recommend and would return. in in house. working .tv

Stayed with 4 adults and 2 children (7). Lots of good stuff is 10 minutes away (Bar Harbor, Hulls Cove VC, trails, lakes). House is well stocked and the open layout worked well for our group. Lots of great DVDs and games in the house. Small yard and lots of mosquitos.

This property is in a really good location. We could easily access Acadia NP and downtown Bar Harbor easily and get away from crowds when we wanted. Plenty of room to spread out and plenty of beds for sleeping. Not mentioned on the listing, but severely appreciated was the automatic ice maker in the freezer. We had great communication with the property manager the entire time. We easily cooked in the wee appointed kitchen. Fluffy towels were also appreciated after a long day of hiking. We simply loved the house!

This is an excellent place for those planning a family vacation on Mount Desert Island. It's well located for daily trips to Acadia Park. It is also a well-equipped home with four bedrooms. We were especially pleased by the prompt response of the home manager to our little toilet problem.

Everything you need to recharge after a long day of climbing trails or spend a day when weather may keep you indoors. Well stocked kitchen, large comfy couch and seating, large dining table with great views of the outdoors. There's a fire pit that the rain kept us from enjoying, and access through the back yard to a practically "private" trail (Acadian Ridge Trail) that was beautiful and mildly challenging. We all took many fond memories home with us.

An excellent stay for our group of 6 adults. Convenient access for hiking and exploring the park. We loved that we could bring our pups with us as well. We had one issue with a bed frame, and the response was immediate! Located in the woods, so make sure you take your shoes off before coming in to keep the mud out-- and the wooded location allowed us to take in nature and creatures during our morning breakfast. The area was very quiet. The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking tools and supplies, and the house had all the amenities we needed. You can tell that this is a true home and not just a rental house.

This cottage in the woods was the perfect base for a girls weekend getaway! It was a great centralized location. Easy to get to the city of Bar Harbor, Acadia entrances, and so many hiking paths around the area. The space held 6 friends really well, the kitchen was WELL STOCKED just as advertised, the large table was great for eating and playing games, and we loved the fire pit for long conversations. The mattresses were ok. They were more firm (except for 1) so if you like a firm mattress you will like. There is wonderful information available at the house on all the hiking paths and we loved exploring the city and the park. Overall wonderful experience!

What a great find!! It was located close to Acadia and Bar Harbor( 10 minutes) but was a quiet location with great firepit. The house was well equipped, especially with board games, books, and a stocked kitchen. First time here in Maine, and we will return and hopefully this will be available! Host was great!

The best rental ever!

Over the years, we have stayed in dozens of properties, all over the country. This is by far our favorite. You can tell that the house is well loved. The location is excellent, the kitchen is fabulously equipped (my first VRBO where well-stocked kitchen from the description actually meant well-stocked). The owners are responsive and incredibly helpful. We will definitely return! In case anyone needs a canine review: once the car was packed to go home, one of our dogs pinned himself to the front porch and had to be dragged away :)

I rented this property for a family vacation for 5 nights. The area is breathtaking, the house is beautiful and loaded with games and books and was close to town and a plethora of trails. The only reason I’m giving this property 3 stars is because after the first night we could no longer drink the water or shower in the house. The property owner was quick to respond but the two men she sent to inspect the problem literally just looked at it and said “it must just be some residual sludge from changing the water filter”, and that was that. The water remained gray and filled with sediment the remainder of our stay. For the amount of money I paid to occupy the house, I would have at least liked some of my money back as I had to by over 20 gallons of water for drinking/cooking and sponge bathing, let alone it being a major inconvenience.

My husband and I enjoyed this property for 5 nights! It had every amenity and felt like home. The bed was comfortable and the location was perfect for both of us and our dog. The location is close to Bar Harbor and Acadia and the wooded lot was gorgeous!

All around great place!

Everything about this house is great! Location is very close to town and loads of other activities in the area. All 4 bedrooms were very comfortable, and large kitchen and living room area was nice to relax and recap our day. Ice packs in the freezer were a pleasant surprise for our cooler we packed everyday for lunches. Home was very easy to find with the large mailbox, and the owner was very quick to answer any questions that came up. We would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

Great location off Rt. 233 in the middle of the island..........loved the campfire site and "woodsy location"........wished for AC due to high humidity - fans not enough.....large kitchen, dining room, living room area for family fun........LOTS of games, books, supplies, kitchen dishes.....LOVED THE HIKES IN ACADIA!!!

We are an older couple with a grown son, daughter and son-in-law and we all enjoyed this house very much. We cooked most of our meals at the house. The gas grill was great and the kitchen was well-stocked. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The grocery store in Bar Harbor was a quick drive away. We would definitely repeat this rental.

The house was clean with plenty of room and well-equipped with literally everything we needed for our stay. The location was close enough to Acadia to make short trips, but also very close to Bar Harbor town, and there was an opportunity to jog and swim very near the house. The only complaint we had was that we were a group of three couples with different schedules but only one key to the house. Otherwise we would highly recommend staying at Heartwood Home.

House was exactly as described and met all our needs for our group of 6. We loved the location as we could venture to either side of Mt Desert Island very easily and get to Bar Harbor in about 10 minutes, but also retreat to the house and be surrounded by trees and have some peace and quiet.

The house was well stocked with toiletries and kitchen items and had rainy day amenities (tv and games). Having just one key was tricky at times; two would have been ideal. The location was convenient to hiking and errands.

We really enjoyed our trip. The cottage is close to all of the MDI attractions, yet has a real Maine woods feeling. We even saw a wild turkey from the large windows in the great room.

The house was clean, well-stocked, and felt just like "home". We loved the solitude of the neighborhood, and it was just close enough to the grocery store and MDI ice cream!! The owner is easy to work with - friendly and responds quickly. We will return!

Great location on island. Comfortable for us and our dog. Downstairs toilet not solidly anchored and upstairs sink drained very slowly. Kitchen well stocked with supplies and downstairs open concept was really nice. Very enjoyable!

Such a cozy and gorgeous property in the woods! Super close to the park (especially the Eagle Lake carriage trail which is wonderful for running!) and convenient to Bar Harbor as well. The house has absolutely everything you could need and the fire pit was a wonderful touch. My new husband and I stayed here for a little honeymoon and couldn’t have been happier!

Our week at Heartwood Home was a welcome retreat to the relaxing quiet of the forest with many opportunities for adventure close at hand. Spent plenty of time at the picnic table out front, and enjoyed the lake close by. Got some fun hiking and biking done, and me the dad enjoyed climbing Beehive at dawn and having it all to myself !

one of the best vacation home experiences we have had. communication with the owner and property manager was excellent. the house is perfected located just a short drive from the best of the national park. we could get anywhere within 20 minutes including Bar Harbor. the beds are comfortable and the house has EVERYTHING you would want or need. including a fire pit! we felt like we were in the park itself and we were sad when it was time to leave. looking forward to our return trip!
