Went to stay the the Hetzer house for a long family weekend. House is very spacious and offers enough room for 4 adult couples. Grounds are nice for some good time at the fire. Plenty of space to park cars and equipment. House is much nicer than it looks on the pictures. Old, authentic - but very easy to have a great time in. Would definately want to book it again.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at this home. The location was perfect! A short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but felt very secluded with woods all around and a fire pit that we enjoyed. The home is very spacious and was comfortable with 2 living rooms and a formal dining room. Large kitchen for cooking meals at home.
My only complaint is that when booking I filtered my search for places with a/c as we have a family member who is sensitive to the heat. When I booked the details stated the home had a/c. It did not. I see now that has been removed from the listing. This might be a consideration if you are booking during the summer.
Overall an amazing place and would love to return!!

This house was very roomy. Ideal for a large family. The location was fantastic. Although we did not spend much time at the house and didn't use the kitchen or really any of the amenities - the house offered it all for a great stay.

While a bit outdated it makes up for it in location and size. Great location! Loved that we could hop on the free shuttle right out front. Far enough from Bar Harbor to get away from the busy but close enough to still visit. We loved this property. Had everything you could need, was super clean, comfortable, and owner provided lots of helpful tips and info. For that I don’t mind maroon carpet. We would happily stay here again. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us! Loved the history!

The home was perfect location for our family to do all the sights and adventures around Acadia national park. It was a short 8 mins away from Bar harbor, but far enough away that we felt relaxed and in nature.
While the home looks older in the pictures it has all the newer amenities and brings a great deal of charm to the vacation knowing the history of the home.
Hosts were great and responded promptly when questions were asked.

It was a great location but when we booked it, it said it had AC and it did not (we found out when we walked in and it was almost 100° in the house). The temps were in the 80s with high humidity which brought heat indices into the 90s. Was quite miserable to try to do anything in the house except early morning. And was not good to come back from a hike to a muggy house. Would be good in the fall but not so much in the summer.

The property and the location could not have been better. Ease of access to Acadia (hot tip: biking to the park loop through the campground across the street was perfect early AM and early eve to avoid the crowds and gets some ocean goodness…may not be sanctioned but it’s still recommended). The location is also near enough to Bar Harbor for the buzz but far enough away to unwind. The place is big and old which brings with it character and charm AND somehow this big old home was immaculately clean in all of its nooks and crannies. We enjoyed the yard, flowers, wandering chickens that visited from a neighboring property, and the deck.
Owners were responsive and positive to connect with.
As many have indicated the pics don’t do this place justice.

Very comfortable, clean and roomy home with a nice deck.
Listed as 4 bedrooms although the smallest bedroom, with no closet or dresser, was a walk-thru to the bunk bedroom. A disappointment as 4 adults were sharing this house each expecting their own private bedroom.

I can't say enough about Tracy as a terrific host. She was very flexible in accommodating the unique needs of our family. The Hetzer House has plenty of space both inside and out. The lawn and deck were bonuses. The house is very well stocked with everything you'd ever need. Location was perfect for getting to Bar Harbor, hiking Acadia, etc. I'd highly recommend this property and we'd certainly come back.

We were two families with young children spending a whole week at this lovely house in Acadia. We enjoyed the perfect location, beautiful garden, homey design, great games for kids, movies, and helpful host. There were slight imperfections like bath tub should be filled with shower because the mechanism didn’t work, or that the entrance to the kid’s bedroom was from another small bedroom, which turned one of them infunctional for us (we ended up installing baby’s pack n play in a spacious landry room and he slept great there!) but this did not bother us too much and we had a really great stay. Would come again.

Better than pictured. House is perfectly located, spacious, well-stocked, and impeccably clean. Very livable/comfortable and close to everything MDI and Acadia has to offer. Our family had a wonderful week and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Close to Acadia Park
Not said that you have to cross a room to go to the other one. The neighbour has a stupid rooster who was coming right under our window to sing at 5( and more often) in the morning!!! I Can't believe it.No instructions for all the appliances.(Took us 15 minutes to start the oven...)Not said that the garbage will be picked up without placing them close the road.
A second key would be appreciated, more plates( there was only 8 for a group of 7) so we have to use the dishwasher more often .

Wonderful Home & Great Location
We very much enjoyed our stay at this home on Mount Desert Island. Its location was ideal, being in the quiet Otter Creek location, but still being quite close to Bar Harbor and many of the Acadia National Park hikes/activities we did. The home was spacious and well appointed with all the items needed to have a wonderful stay. Tracy was a wonderful host, always easy to reach and was most helpful with various great sightseeing and event recommendations. Besides the great hiking, our kids loved the cookout we did at the house's fire pit one evening. We highly recommend anyone visiting Mount Desert Island to consider stay's Tracy's Hetzler's house!

Perfect place for our visit to Mt Desert
Beautiful home in a natural setting. Close to some great hiking trails including Cadillac mountain. Short drive to the town of bar harbor. Old style decor but everything is clean, well maintained. Lots of space and peaceful. Everything you would need to enjoy your stay in the park.

Perfect location for exploring Acadia
My husband and our three adult children enjoyed a wonderful long weekend staying in Otter Creek. The location was perfect for exploring Acadia National Park and the island of Mount Desert. The property was spacious with room for gathering together and playing games around the dining room table, yet had enough individual space for each of our children to have their own room and a large master for my husband and I. The home was well equipped and clean. I would highly recommend staying here, and will do so again myself the next time our family gathers in Maine.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Hetzer House. The quiet surroundings were ideal, the yard & fire pit were great and we had easy access to all points of interest. The kitchen has everything you need. Our only suggestions are provide better lighting for evening reading and mark the step out the entrance to avoid falls. Our stay was wonderful, and we would recommend this home to others. Thank you Tracy.

Fun get-away
The house was very clean and comfortable with two living areas and two t.v.'s, a more than adequate kitchen and great proximity to Acadia National Park. We were amazed at how quiet it was inside. Very restful.

Historic Acadia Gateway
We had a lovely stay in the Hetzer House in Otter Creek on Mt Desert Island. The house is a wonderfully cared for historic property, with amazing grounds with a fire pit and plenty of space.

Great owners and location
Tracy and her family have a beautiful house close to Acadia. There was a mixup with the cleaners when we arrived, but Tracy was quick to respond to fix the problem and was so kind and helpful. The place is very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Thanks Tracy for a wonderful stay!

The pictures didn't justify the quality of this house. The whole house is very clean and neat. Master bedroom is very comfortable. Towels are prepared and comfort to use. Good water pressure for the showers. Kitchen is nice and we used it for light cooking. Laundry machines work well. The owner, Tracy, is very nice and always response quickly. The only drawback is that we were not familiar with the oven usage so we skipped it.Oh, the nearby Otter Creek Market was really convenient and offers the best Lobster Roll and clam chowder.

Spacious property
We had a very comfortable stay at this property. The house was huge - 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, plus a full kitchen and plenty of space to relax. There was also a fire pit and outdoor seating. The only thing we didn't like is that the only restaurant within walking distance was closed the 3 days we were there (only open on weekends) so we had to drive every time we wanted to eat out. However, if you are looking for a quiet place away from the crowds at Bar Harbor then this place is for you.

Great week on Desert Island
Our extended family had a great time in Tracy’s home. It is located in a great spot for accommodating many different activities in Acadia National Park. The house is well suited to hosting a large group (we were 7 for part of the week). We had no issues with the house and Tracy was very easy to communicate with as far as check in and out. We would come back!

A great Acadia stay!
What a fantastic location in Otter Creek, right near Blackwoods Campground! Easy trip to Bar Harbor, but outside of the hustle-and-bustle. It's straightforward to get into Acadia itself via Park Loop Road, and the house is very close to great locations like Thunder Hole, Sand Beach and hikes up Cadillac and Gorham Mountain. The house itself has lots of amenities - we spent a bunch of time grilling and hanging out at the fire pit. The location is especially good if you're with a group and some want to camp and others want a roof!

Wonderful Acadia stay!
We are 2 couples in our 30s who stayed in this house as part of our 4 day Acadia trip. We loved it! The house's location is incredible - just a 8-10 min drive to Acadia NP or Bar Harbour. The house itself is cozy, clean, and very spacious. The pictures do not do it justice. The kitchen is well stocked, and there are cute corners, books, and outdoor spaces as well. Overall, highly recommend!

Great spot for a family trip in Acadia
Tracy's place was great for us, and she was a great, responsive host. The house is well furnished and had plenty of room for our family of six. The location makes it easy to get to most of the park with roads that cut across into various entries into the one-way Park Loop road.
If you come during the summer, there isn't AC in the house, which the listing clearly states. There are plenty of fans to help air flow, which is helpful. Most of our trip was cool at night so this was fine, but it is a bit warmer at the house than in the park on the coast, of course, and we did have one night it didn't cool down and the upstairs bedroom were too warm to sleep comfortably.
We had a great time and would definitely recommend.

Maine 2021 Graduates Gift
The property and Acadia were all our 2020 and 2021 graduates had ask for. Manager, Tracy, responded quickly to all questions. Loved it having a fire pit., large dining table and kitchen.. It rained 2 of the 3 days we were there but the house was ours!

Spacious house right outside Acadia
The house is in a fantastic location, right outside the park and a short drive down the road from Bar Harbor. The Cadillac Mountain South Ridge hike departs from right near the house, so you do not need to drive into the park to do that hike, which was a nice bonus to the location, given the current car reservation system.
The house itself was great, plenty of room for 6 adults. The kitchen is huge and there are two living rooms with comfortable couches and TVs. In non-COVID times we may not have spent as much time at the house, but in present circumstances it was nice to have a place to cook and watch movies after long days of hiking/biking in the park.
Would definitely stay here again!

Relaxing getaway
Had a blast at this spot. Just separated enough from town to get the stars and quiet of Acadia. Really large space as well! I'd like to come back with a group for another getaway.

Great Acadia Getaway!
Perfect location for a long weekend trip in Acadia. Very close to all the trails and also to Bar Harbor. Great communication from owner to make sure timing/details were figured out prior to arrival. Wished we could have stayed longer!

Perfect location
The house was very nice and close to park entrances. Evenings were cool so no issues with no AC. We had considered a hotel north of Bar Harbor but due to Covid we decided to try VRBO instead. So happy we did because the house was very central to the places we hiked. Would definitely return in the future.
