Casual, affordable and oh so conveniently located, Nifty Thrifty is the answer for singles, couples and small families seeking elbow room on a visit to fun and funky Eugene. Park the car in the attached garage: Around the corner (29th and Willamette) you’ll find a gourmet market, and a variety of restaurants and shops. And now, a budding food cart pod just a block away!

Bring a bike or take advantage of the two bus lines that are just steps from your door – either way, you’re within minutes of Fifth Street Market, the Hult Center, Saturday Market, the University of Oregon campus and Hayward Field, or Autzen Stadium. It’s only 20 minutes by car to the Lorane Valley wine country, less than 60 to the whitewater beauty of the McKenzie River, and less than 90 to hike or ski the Cascades. Nothing’s out of reach from this location!

The one-story 1950s-vintage house features two bedrooms, a full bath, hardwood floors, a fireplace, a private fenced and landscaped backyard (roses and fruit trees!) and a laundry. Thanks to the addition of a ductless heat pump, there is AC. The full-sized kitchen is equipped with all the appliances you’ll need to pull together breakfast at the dinette or serve dinner in the dining room. If there’s business on your schedule, there’s a workstation in the master bedroom and WiFi throughout the house. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, friendly, and eclectic.

Said a recent guest: 'Nifty Thrifty was the perfect choice...ideally located, close to shopping, public transit, the university, and Amazon Park with its bicycle & running trails, children's playground and a great dog park. The home is spotless with all the extras one could need, even a garage for the car. The back yard was perfect, completely fenced with plants and lawn and a small patio with a table and chairs. The neighborhood is extremely quiet with very little traffic other than the local residents. All in all, we couldn't have been more pleased...and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a vacation rental in Eugene.'

Attended the Oregon Country Fair. This place was wonderful! Ellen is very attentive and responsive, she was right there to check us in, explain everything and offered to be available for assistance. It was clean, roomy, comfortable and plenty of amenities. The back yard was lovely in the evening. Will definitely try and stay there for next years Fair!

Staying here was like staying at a friend's house (but cleaner). The location is convenient for shopping and dining. The owner is helpful and professional, and the only reason I rated the check-in 4/5 stars is because some people might prefer an automated check-in whereas in this case the owner meets the renter in person to provide the keys. I would probably do the same, and the owner can arrange to meet the renter at a time suitable for both. In summary, this is a nice house with a nice backyard at a reasonable price.

The host was really welcoming and responsive. They showed me the property when I checked in to ensure everything was to my liking. The house itself was super clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay at Nifty Thrifty and will keep this property in mind should we return to the area.

We enjoyed the comfortable home. We needed a place to stay while visiting family to celebrate mom’s 90th. We spent most our time away from the home. Although when there it was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The backyard was lovely. We will definitely stay here again.

Ellen has a very comfortable home in a great location. Lots of space for a 2/1 and everything I needed for a visit to Eugene. Enjoyed the Ridgeline trail just up Willamette a few miles.

Beautiful little hidden neighborhood in a charming part of town. I was in town traveling by myself to see family and a little reluctant about renting but could not have been more pleased. It was charming, clean, with comfortable beds and a beautiful private backyard. I would recommend highly. Ellen was wonderful and thought of everything, including a folder with all the local interests, food, stores, anything!

We went to Oregon for a Track meet . The home is located very close to the stadium. The home was better than advertised. Very quite neighborhood. We will definitely stay again.

My Aunt and I enjoyed our stay. Every room was clean and comfortable and our host, Ellen was thorough, pleasant and responsive. The place has a staying with your grandparents vibe with roses, grapevines and blueberry bushes in the back yard. It was the respite we needed after a challenging workshop.

This place was just perfect. So comfortable. Close to everything we needed. Just down the street (3 houses) is a wonderful Thai Restaurant. We will be back next year. Beds were comfortable, kitchen is roomy. It has a nice backkyard.

This is the third time we have stayed here. A great price for a very comfortable home. Owner is very responsive and cares for the home. Each time we have stayed here it only improves. Lots of dining, groceries, etc. within walking distance. Always very clean. Anytime we are in Eugene this will be our first choice if available.

Quiet and clean! Ellen met us at check in and showed us the in’s and outs. We were super comfortable and would definitely recommend this home! The garage was handy and the backyard was well maintained. Great grocery store within a few blocks. Furniture and beds were comfy too!

Nice home, good price and lovely yard! The owner was pleasant and professional. I walked to the University of Oregon campus in about 45 minutes. Grocery stores and restaurants were just a couple of minutes away. Would definitely recommend!

We loved Nifty Thrifty. It’s a charming home with a great backyard (grapevines, pear tree, apple tree, a little patio with umbrella. We came to Eugene to explore the area, having never been there before. The South Eugene location was perfect, within walking distance to Amazon Park; easy access to I-5 as well as Hwy 126 to Florence on the coast; and only a 10-15 minute easy drive to downtown and the UO campus. A shout out to Ellen for taking a personal interest in her guests and making suggestions for sights and activities to enhance their visit. We WILL be back!

The house was comfortable for our young family--the layout of the house was good with no stairs (one level), plenty of space and comfortable furnishings. Everything was there to work easily in the kitchen and bathroom and plenty of extras linens if needed.

This home is small and quaint with a nice backyard. It is close to grocery stores and restaurants. Amazon Park is within walking distance for morning /evening walks or runs. It worked out great for UO graduation. Ellen was a great hostess and answered all questions within minutes!
