We had a great time. The place was lovely and very big. Beach across the street was fantastic and not crowded at all. Manager came right over to fix a little problem with a bathroom sink. Lots of A/C units and we enjoyed the front porch a lot. We could have lived without the ant problem in the kitchen.

Another great family Holiday gathering at Idlewild. Property always clean and an easy, short walk to the beach if weather co-operates.

House was perfectly located across from the beach - large enough for entire family - could use some TLC on porches - great time!

Nice older home with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The front porch and many of the bedrooms have a beautiful view of the water. We spent most of our time on the front porch and at the small but uncrowded beach across the quiet street and down the stairs.
The owner is very responsive. When we had a small issue with small ants in the kitchen ( not unusual for beach locations in the summer), the owner responded very quickly and had someone out there the same day and it was no longer an issue for the remainder of the day.
As an older home, it could use some paint touch ups and some of the doors stuck a little when closed but that is to be expected for a house of its age near the water.
The only big con was that there was not air conditioning in a few of the bedrooms or the kitchen and dining area. There was not a lot of ventilation in the kitchen and dining area so it became very hot in there when the kitchen was being used.
Overall, it was a great place with a responsive owner and plenty of space in a beautiful spot by the water!

Our large family stayed at Idlewild for a reunion. Everyone commented on how lovely the house was. There was plenty of space for everyone. The young people enjoyed the beach, and those who couldn’t manage the stairs enjoyed the benches that overlook the coast. It was the perfect location for visiting Plymouth and enjoying quiet time together.

Very pleased with Idlewild. Had a family of 20, all ages and was terrific. Easy set up, check in and check out. Look forward to our next stay there.

Thank you for sharing this very historic house with us. We are a family of 25 (ages 6 months to late sixties) and had the best reunion ever—so many bedrooms and bathrooms and spaces to be! We just loved congregating on that porch for long conversations, snacks and looking at that million dollar view. The view from all the rooms with front windows is majestic and soothing and the sunrises are nature at its best. The stairs down the bluff to the water were in good shape and we all got some good exercise walking up and down! After a hot summer, the seaweed in the bay was a bit challenging but that’s nature. The neighborhood is beautiful and charming too and we met some friendly neighbors. The side yard is very spacious and the twenty and thirty-something cousins enjoyed putting together an “Olympics” that were enjoyed by participants and spectators alike. We loved the short drive to Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower and the short walk to two excellent coffee shops. If you are looking for modern and upscale then this is not the place for you, but if you want pure New England in a place where you can FEEL it’s history, then you will leave delighted and glad you stayed.

Perfect spot for a retreat at the beach. The location is amazing. Incredible views. Short walk to the beach. Great host. Our large group had plenty of room to gather when needed but everyone also had their own spaces for time alone. Kitchen well stocked with all the necessities for meals together. Children had a blast. Plenty of games and toys and yard space. We loved our time here!

No complaints only compliments and positive feedback from the 27 that came to my 90th birthday celebration. And believe me they would not have held back if they were unhappy. 7Children and spouses , 10 grandchildren and 3 greatgrands from 7 states and England. All happy with the accommodations and activities
Our host was excellent.

As a family of 21 with ages ranging from 2 to senior citizens, this historic home , which is beginning to show its age, was very accommodating…plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms, spaces for conversation, lots of front and back deck space to enjoy the outdoors, large yard for kids to play, and large kitchen for meal preparations. The ocean view was awesome, but the 150 steps to get down to the beach was challenging for some. We had a wonderful time together. Thank you for the beautiful greeting of flowers on the tables on the deck and for sharing your home with us.

Very accommodating. Comfortable. Lots of space. Beds are comfortable. Would suggest facecloths for bathrooms. We could not figure tv out..ok as we were occupied with Thanksgiving related activities. But a heads up that owners should offer intructions

12 High School friends rented this house to celebrate our 70th birthdays. Our favorite spot was the front porch. We were out there in the early morning and again at night. The overhand allowed us to stay out there even in the rain. There are so many areas to sit and reconnect. It was great.

A+++ time! We could not give this place enough stars! From the beginning Rob was an amazing communicator showing us layout of the house and bedrooms to sleep in. The Idlewild is beautiful, situated right over the ocean with amazing sunrises and a great front deck to watch them on. It has amazing character with New England charm, with hidden bedrooms and nooks that were so quaint. Two people in our group are already hoping to rent the place out again because they loved it so much. We highly suggest renting here, you will not be disappointed!

We booked this place for a small wedding. The pictures do not do it justice. We had 35 people with some young kids. We could have fit many more. The kids were able to take the top floor, and we could party through the night. Stunning views from the private park across the street and great place for the ceremony. Full kitchen for the caterer and plenty of chairs, tables, spaces, etc for basically anything you could want to do. This is the perfect place and your search ends here.

My friends and I had a wonderful experience at Idlewild. Rob is such a gracious and communicative host. When we were confused about connecting to the Sonos, he came over right away and reset it for us which was so kind and helpful. The family property is so charming and the views of the ocean are INCREDIBLE. Such a beautiful neighborhood too. Perfect retreat destination with friends, even in the winter, with great common spaces on the first floor and plenty of bedrooms and beds. We had the best time- thanks Rob!!

We were 10 adults and 6 kids ages 2-11. It was a 4-day weekend for Papa's 60th birthday. Oceanview and walk across the street to the beach stairs. House is old and magnificent with so much room for everyone. One of the 7 bathrooms even had a clawfoot tub. We were able to have our meals as a family in the large diningroom for all 16 of us. Another room we used for our "internet cafe". Highly recommend!

Had a great time at this property. Very relaxing and perfect proximity to the beach

The pictures posted really don’t do it justice. This house is HUGE and fits 25 more than comfortably. With multiple living spaces it allowed the large group so spread out or all hang together easily. Rob was amazing. Although out of his control the neighbors really did not like a large group of 24 year olds staying near them he handled everything very well. Best weekend and would do it all again 10/10.

This house was just perfect for our yearly family get-together a different nook for every member to hang out in and lots of common areas for all of us to be together with a breathtaking view to wake up to. Owners were receptive and respond quickly. Would absolutely recommend !!!
