Incredible home with big kitchen area, huge living room, pool table, tables for games, great flat yard for games outside, awesome dock to pull up a boat! Sleeps a lot of people. We love it and Ruth Lake is gorgeous!

We were told most rooms have AC when in fact only 3 of the 8 rooms have AC. Only 2 of 6 burners worked on stove. Oven heat inaccurate.
Screen windows/doors had holes in them.
Not as handicap accessible as we thought.
We loved how spacious it was. Never felt cramped. Pool table and fooseball was an added bonus.

This place is stunningly beautiful, dock access is close, fire ring is close and the charcoal grill is big enough to accommodate our group of 14! We had a great time and would return.

We are a group of 12-15 that has a traditional of going to northern Minnesota each early to mid October. Given the larger size of our group, we normally rent a vacation property in "cabin country." This was our first time at the Ruth Lake Retreat, and all agreed this was one of the finest locations we've had in years. It's a gorgeous property with a great number of bedrooms wonderful kitchen, pool table / foosball table, complete with amazing lake views. If the property is available next year, we'd definitely consider a return trip!

It was perfect, but only missing one thing... a boat / pontoon rental. The lake was so nice. The sunset was beautiful... would had loved to be out there. We will definitely return though because location was great and house was beautiful and big for our big family! Some minor issues with bathroom doors not closing or locking, but we made it work. It rained twice on us so the pool table & other games along with the many TVs provided kept us company inside. Had many memorkes at the bonfire too. Yard was big enough for the kids to run around. Like the basketball hoop. Overall, great experience.

Great Place to stay. Had everything it stated it did. We were disappointed that the dock was not in. We were looking forward to a friend coming to get us for a boat ride. But was unable without a dock. The yard was not mowed or kept up. The house was Beautiful and we were all very comfortable with our stay. Just disappointed in the yard and lack of dock.

We are a group of 15 guys that have been gathering for a weekend of Poker and basketball for 28 years. We've been to the Ruth Lake Retreat for 11 years prior to the change of hands. It was nice to return to our beloved retreat. We will always consider it our home away from home. Obviously there were some changes, like the upstairs bedrooms being closed for the season when we've used them the same time of year many times in the past. Some of the guys had to sleep on couches for their $250.00. The kitchen blew a fuse and had no working outlets using the supplied toasters. Zack was great about plowing the driveway and flipping breakers..
We look forward to another weekend same time next year.

You must see in person to fully appreciate the beauty of this lodge! Panoramic views, cozy fireplaces and truly one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Over the top accommodations and location!

The pictures of the outside do not do this place justice. It is gorgeous! The house is so big I feel like I did not even see parts of it. The house was exactly what we needed for our annual friends trip. :)

Pictures do not do the outside justice. The lakefront views and backyard are amazing. The house is massive! Definitely exceeded expectations. Bring your own toiletries.

42nd anniversary family celebration
My wife and I, by the Grace of God, celebrated our anniversary with family. We were happy with the space provided for our group of 18. It was nice that we could eat all together at the same table. Plenty of space to entertain and relax. And it was nice to have our own private swimming beach and dock.

Perfect Northern Minnesota Getaway
The property and cabin were incredible! So much space and everyone had a bed to sleep in. The property was clean and stocked with the basics. The cabin is right on the lake and has incredible views. The sunsets were straight out of a painting. Loved every day we spent there and would rent it again if it’s a available.

big house, good lake, close amenities, good value
The house was large and had a gorgeous sunset over its expansive lake view. Easy check-in. Dock and lakeshore were nice and the house was very clean, but the house was just a few points short of full luxury retreat and included: old carpet, old pool table that had only 1 cue stick and rest broken, foosball table that had a broken rod, dated futons throughout, gas grill with an empty propane tank we had to fill, dull kitchen knives, master bathroom doors didn't shut to bedroom, and no laundry detergent. The worst aspect was the sump pump/drain system that ran every 4 minutes one night when it rained plus ran anytime someone used water in the house, which kept the master bedroom and 1 upstairs bedroom awake all night. Positives are nice kitchen appliances, large and multiple gathering spaces with couches/tvs/dining room space, outdoor game space, extra fridge in the garage, good amount of kitchen utensils/plates/cups/etc. Overall for the cost of this vs. other 9k sq ft cabins it was a good place to stay. We had 12 adults and 4 kids and enjoyed the weekend and never felt cramped. we may stay there again with slightly lower expectations, but only if they could confirm the sump pump noise was not going to happen again.

Perfect for Family and Friends
We had made reservations last minute and they were more then accommodating! This place is very true to the pictures and the people we worked with were great and very fast to respond. Would definitely suggest staying here and will probably be back next year.

Great cabin for a big family
Such a big private cabin with many rooms to fit the whole family! The kids were excited how roomy and spacious it was. My 10 month year old son walked around freely! The view of the lake was great to see every moring!! The Charcoal grill was so huge that it took us once to finish all the cooking. (My husband enjoyed it and is thinking about getting one himself!) 😄
The only downfall I would say is the bathroom sinks took a while for the the water to drain. Which that is a very minimal issue and am sure it could easily be fixed.
Wish we could've plan for the summer because it was a bit chilly, but that didnt stop us from jumping into the lake. 😊 We will definitely come back to this beautiful cabin during the summer time!!!💖💖💖

Not All Amenities Available
We booked this cabin because of the propane grill, but it was nowhere in sight. The seasonal rooms were also listed as available year round, and our guests were prepared for this. However, once we arrived we once again were surprised to found out they were completely locked and sealed off. Had we were made aware of these two things beforehand, we would have cancelled this trip.
The host did reply to our texts, and encouraged us to go purchase a grill. We would be reimbursed for up to $200. However, we didn’t think it was our responsibility nor should our time be used to fix this problem for the host. We had to adjust and ended up making our burgers and steaks on the stove. As for the rooms, we were told there were many futons and we can just “crash on the couch”.. which is exactly what we wanted to avoid and the reason for booking this cabin with multiple rooms. Our guests who came after we arrived, ended up bringing their air mattresses and slept in areas with no privacy.
A few more things:
There is only one bathroom upstairs and one bathroom downstairs (this door was severely broken) for the entire house. The rest are located within the rooms. The house is full of animals and pictures of Native Americans. It looks fancily decorated in the photos, but it may be unsettling for some people in real life.
I made the host very aware with the implications we met on the first day of our trip, and I still had to bring these up to him in order for him to consider giving us a discount for a later check out time. It felt like he didn’t take my complaints seriously until I repeated them again and again. One of our guests also lost something at the cabin & I asked the host to keep me updated. Whether it was found or not, I did not get an update until I asked for another one. As the host for my friends and family, I wanted this to all go well but we made so many adjustments since day 1.. overall our guests loved that there were multiple couches, a large dining table, and the pool table. We’d have to take a lot into consideration before we decide to book this place again.

This rental was even better than the pictures could show. We had an absolutely amazing time and stay here. The north woods was something incredible to experience and even saw the northern lights just from off the back patio! Would highly recommend, 5 out of 5 for sure!

Definitely a place to be!
This is a BEAUTIFUL cabin with so much space. My friends and I rented this cabin for our annual cabin trip and it was by far the best we’ve had. Check-in was extremely easy and the guest contact was available at all times, but we didn’t need to reach out because everything was perfect and in place for a successful weekend.

Great stay at this property. We had our annual get together here and enjoyed it immensely. Wish there was central air throughout the house, but we made it work. Thanks for the stay!

Deceiving
Should not be labeled handicap accessible. No fans on hot July days, dock to small, burners on stove did not work properly, small refrigerator for this size property, pavers need fixed. Loved Northern Minnesota but will be finding a different place to stay.

Family getaway
The cabin was very beautiful and had so much space for all of us! It rained a couple nights but the little kids hung out in one family room and the adults hung out in the other, it was so nice to not feel like you’re sitting on each other’s lap! Beach frontage was a little small and the dock was big enough for the pontoon we rented but not for our fishing boat. We would definitely stay here again, very secluded and the kids had a great time fishing off the dock!

Actually as nice as the photos!
This place was really nice, and didn’t have that weird cheap feel that rental places sometimes have. It was clean, well maintained, and cool. One thing to note, there are several 3 seasons rooms , and they’re cold in the winter :)

Great family vacation!
We had a great family Christmas this year at Ruth Lake! The house was the perfect size for us and very clean. When we arrived, we found that 2 of the bedrooms are seasonal (which was not on the listing) and we were able to get in touch with the owner and property manager. The PM provided space heaters for those 2 bedrooms but unfortunately the circuit breaker was not large enough to support both of them on at once. The family enjoyed the game room and the seating provided around the fire! The large dining table was also a big plus! Good location and easy to get in and out of the property.

Great family getaway
October 17-20, 2019
Ruth lake retreat was a great place for our large family getaway. We were a group of 22 ranging in ages from 6 months to 70’s and it accommodated well. The pool table was a big hit. Two separate great rooms worked well ... kids did their gaming on one side, adults watched sports on the other side. We enjoyed the large grass area (football), fire pit and dock (fishing and tying up boat). Also great to have laundry to use. Had use of a double garage space and extra fridge. Both the owner and emergency contact were great to work with. Very responsive to questions and needs.
A few things that need working on:
-Window coverings in porch bedrooms
-new beds in porch bedrooms ... very saggy.
-another bathroom would be nice. There is only 1 bathroom upstairs to accommodate 8 people. The other 2 full bathrooms are inside bedrooms on main level.
-better lighting in kitchen and porch
-update carpets. There were some fraying areas.
-oven door needs new hinges. Had to prop closed with chair.
Overall a great place and would visit again!

family get away
the retreat was very beautiful. but it is listed as accessible. i am handicapped and it was not. the main floor master bed was incredibly high. and no rails in shower for use.other than that it was a good experience. the manager was very helpful. the weather turned cold while we were there and the heat wasnt working right. so he sent someone that day to fix.

Beautiful Property!
This house is every bit as beautiful as the pictures indicate. Very peaceful setting overlooking the lake. There were no window coverings in the porch bedrooms, and those two beds should be replaced as they are very saggy. Other than that, the house was very comfortable and accommodated our large family wonderfully. We would definitely re-book!

Huge beautiful home with lot and swimming area to die for!
This is a spectacular home. The house is very specious and well decorated. It was very clean and fairly well equipped with everything you would need. Any issues we had Luke, our contact person there as soon as possible to resolve the issue. The grounds are beautiful and the swimming beach is great. I give it a 4 out of 5 just due to a few issues that need to be fixed that I feel they will. If you have a large ground and like room to roam, this is the house for you! We would rent again.
