Great location to city centre.
Master bedroom bed was like sleeping on wood, very thin and hard mattress. Towels left damp on bed in one of smaller rooms. Main bathroom toilet seat broken. Shower leaking and very small. Just generally a bit cold and unloved compared to previous places I have stayed at before. Lot of TLC needed to make it feel cosy, comfortable and worth 170 per night.

The location was great and the house was so lovely
Nothing

Great location. Clean property.
Only one TV channel available and bed were awful.

Great location , comfortable, and affordable
Steep stairs

Loved the location, plenty of places to eat nearby. House was clean and warm easy to get into using the key lockbox.
Our only gripe was that it slept 6 people but the dining room table only had 4 chairs, there wern't enough wine/proscecco glasses for 6 people, no freezer compartment in fridge for making ice (a freezer would have been a asset).

Loved the location of the house for the Christmas market. The rooms were a good size. The loft room was quirky. Had everything we needed for our stay.
Only complaint was that the bed in the second room was uncomfortable but was okay for a night or two. We were rained off yesterday so left after only one night.
3.8
The number of rooms, comfort, close distance to the city centre.
If we had been staying for a longer trip I would have found the lack of pleasing city views depressing but for this short trip it wasn’t a problem. The set of steps to the top floor were a bit scarily steep for us old folks.
However, the close proximity to York Centre and the rest of the property far outweighed my personal negatives. We will certainly come again.

Very easy to access the property, the key was in a key lock outside at the side of the door. I was given the key code a couple of days prior to attending the propriety.

Good Location and is easy to find.
The house is a bit old and a few furniture is damaged but not repaired.
The wifi is weak and not able to access from the upstairs.
3.8
Excellent location had everything we needed
Beds not overly comfortable.

The location is fab. Close to the centre of everything without being on the main walk for ghost tours ect. So very minimal noise outside from people walking by ect. We couldn't fault the location and the permit was brilliant. It was very easy to park in visible distance from the house. The property has its quirks and I'm sure is better visited in winter as I think it would have a warmer cosy vibe. Lots of space and house for the stay. Little extras were included like milk sugar sachets, clean towels and tea towel.
The property is looking tired. It was surface clean but in need of some deep cleaning. The fridge, kitchen and bathroom tiles in particular. I got the impression either the cleaner is older or doesn't have enough time. All laundry smelt great and was clearly fresh. But money needs to be spent on the beds and bedding. My bed was very hard like sleeping on a board. I got the feeling that the owners haven't been to the property in some time and are not aware of its tired state as it clearly has had some love and personality put into it. For the price it was OK but I don't think I would stay again.

This property needs a deep clean from top to bottom. Beds are uncomfortable as mattresses are like bricks.Pillows all flat. Towels Ned renewing.Continual water running from downstairs toilet. I do not recommend this property.
The uncleanliness
Booking.com should not be advertising this property as it is dire need of a deep clean

Convenient location. Moderately priced. Family sized.
The upkeep and maintenance is obviously not a priority. Unloved and pretty grubby in a lot of places. Awful, cheap ornaments/ wall hangings etc. (downstairs toilet mirror and Cork wall hangings looked the worst) extractor fan sounded like it was about to blow up as well. TVs not working. Gives the impression that “it can still be rented out so, why bother.” Cushions and blankets smelt. Doubt they’ve been laundered for a long time. Downstairs toilet leaking and floor constantly wet. Terrible cobwebs all over lounge window.
Furniture long overdue replacement. Toilet seats loose and askew. I could go on.
Won’t leave an awful review but, as a fellow property professional I recommend the owner makes some improvements. It was merely a base for us and it served its purpose. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else however.

Very roomy, good location
Bed in the front bedroom on the 2nd floor was so hard, I love a firm bed, but this was next level

Great
No milk but was OK got some

The property was in an excellent location, just a short walk which brought us out at the bottom of The Shambles. It was very spacious.
The property cleanliness wasn’t the best, everything just seemed to need a deep clean. The downstairs toilet had cobwebs and spiders in there, the rug in the lounge was filthy, the pots and cutlery were all dirty. The bed in the main (front) bedroom was horrendous, like sleeping on the floor. There was no TV in the second room, but it didn’t matter because none of the TVs worked anyway. The back yard was overgrown and in dire need of a good clean, certainly not as shown in the pictures. Also when we arrived the council were digging the road up, so we couldn’t park outside using the permit which cost another £30 to park on the car park. We also had machinery and the road being drilled all day from 07:30 so had to go out for breakfast because the house was shaking. We actually left the property a day early which was a shame.

I liked the Size of the house and the location, the size of the rooms was bigger than expected, it was nice and quiet at night too.
The tiles in the hall way are lovely, the whole place was clean and tidy. A really nice house, I could have easily stayed for a week or two
I could have done with a potato masher and a vegetable peeler, we found a peeler in a shop nearby so we left it in the kitchen draw but no sign of a masher anywhere

Great location easy waking distance to city centre. Property was clean and tidy.
The bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable, never slept on a harder mattress! TV in bedroom does not work. No freezer or freezer compartment in the fridge. Kitchen was under stocked for 6 guests. Shower in the bathroom has parcel tape securing it to the wall. Generally the property could do with some TLC and resfreshing.
3.8
Central location to the city, just off the best road for cafes and restaurants, short walk to the central shopping area.
Very basic.
If white bed linen is used it needs to be white, crisp and ironed, not yellowing with stains on sheets and duvet covers.
The shower needs fixing as it’s held together with brown tape and fell on my daughter.
Could do with some instructions on how the television works.

Easy walk into the center of York. Located with in a 6 minute walk to a grocery store. Restaurants and services near by.
Comfortable gathering areas. When we requested to stash our bags for a short time before official check in, permission was granted.
The kitchen was under provisioned in things like paper towels, dishwasher detergent, and toilet paper for a 2 night stay by 5 people. When an email was sent to alert the owner of these deficiencies I received no response.
The toilet down stairs was full of cobwebs and spiders and the refrigerator was very dirty. The soap pump in the bathroom was empty.

Location, nothing else
The accommodation was shocking it was dirty the facilities are awful, you need to remove this property of your site, grime everywhere, cob webs, no cutlery ,the shower held up with tape, linen was dirty, walls and carpets dirty, outside there was rubbish and the garden was a jungle the fridge was disgusting and the freezer wasn't there just a dirty empty space, in fact i want a refund, photos are available

Nice, big roomy house. Loved that there was a bathroom as well as a downstairs toilet. Also liked that there was a separate large dining room, great for socialising. Fab location!
Whilst the house was good for a group of friends, I wouldn't go for a family holiday. Garden not like the pictures and run down. No where to sit. Need bins in bedrooms, these are essential. 2 wine glasses still had red wine marks on which instantly put me off using the crockery etc. My bed (the attic room) was comfy but my other friend's said there's wasn't. Pillows need an upgrade, they are wafer thin. With a bit of TLC this house could have a lot more going for it.

Good location very close to city centre and some attractions.
We loved the living rooms both ones.
Comfortable beds(mattress)and shower gel and shampoo on bathroom

Great location, the house was lovely and very spacious.
It's a lovely, unique house and was only a short walk into town.
It came with a parking permit which meant we could park the car for the whole stay and just walk where we needed to go.
There was plenty of tea, coffee and sugar left for us.
It was a little grubby and needed some TLC
Wallpaper was peeling, dirty marks on the walls and some furniture was ripped.
The worst thing was how uncomfortable the beds were, we had guests in all 3 beds and all said they were very uncomfortable.
Small bin for the rubbish which wasn't great and nothing left out to clean up with i.e. broom etc...
3.8
nothing apart from location
The property was very run down, damp and dirty
was told it had been cleaned. There where still dirty marks on the kitchen floor to prove nothing had been done ! All 3 beds very very uncomfortable and dirty. The sofas and chairs where all torn and ripped. The blankets where hiding the damp and mould issues. Please be aware the photos the owners shows does not represent the property is now!

Exactly as advertised. Centrally located property. Comfortable stay for 6 people. Days parking included for one car.
Key wasn’t in lock box but quick call to Ben and issue was rectified in under 5mins.
No signal for TV

Nice house located within the city walls of York. Great location just a short walk to the centre but quiet at night. 3 good size double beds over 3 floors, kitchen, lounge and dining room
We would of liked the option for some single beds perhaps but 5 adults did fit. Only 1 shower in the house, 2 toilets though which was a plus
3.8
Great location, lovely house, comfy and clean!
Shower was extremely hot and couldn't get it cooler.
Would have rated a 10 if shower temp was better and would have been so much nicer if checkout was 11am rather than 10am. 10am is a little rushed!
