About this house rental
Les Deux Ramparts are two side by side Creole Cottages that were originally built in the 1840s with many elements that have changed very little over the last 200 years- we still retain much of the authentic character that has developed along with the city through the centuries. You will find nothing from Ikea or Home Depot here; the houses are filled with authentic antiques, luxurious upholstery, premium mattresses & bedding, historic oil-paintings and lithographs, and period correct details throughout. The owners are luxury designers & historic preservationists and no expense was spared when creating this true New Orleans masterpiece.
Step inside the front door to the stunning parlor which retains is original fireplace and 12 foot ceilings. There is comfortable seating, a large smart TV with local channels and onDemand favorites (like Netflix, HBO, Showtime, Hulu, and a variety of onDemand cable stations including ESPN, HGTV, etc). The sofa in the parlor of the second home has a pull-out queen size sleeper and there are plenty of cozy places to curl up with a antebellum novel or other spots to sit and write a postcard to your loved ones. There is also a Sonos music system throughout the houses, controlled by a free downloadable app on your smartphone or tablet over super-fast cable internet & wifi.
The sumptuous dining room of the first home is one of the most eye-catching spaces in the house with its deep red papered walls, circa 1840's fireplace, New Orleans antiques and artwork, fabulous draperies, and cozy sectional seating for a quick bite or a long-lasting dinner party. The next space on the right side of the cottage is the kitchen. This room has charming wallcoverings, plenty of counter and cabinet space, and two pairs of french doors leading to the sideyard patio where you will find a gas grill and outdoor dining seating. Steps from this patio is a beautiful salt water pool and spa, which can be heated in the winter (for an extra cost). We do also have a few modern conveniences, like a dishwasher, a large refrigerator (with automatic ice maker & filtered water dispenser), and a hood vent for cooking up a storm on the gas range. The kitchen is also equipped with all the pots and pans you need plus a microwave, electric tea kettle, standard coffee machine, toaster, dishes & cutlery for 12+, plenty of wine glasses, and all the cooking gadgets and utensils you could ever want. Of course we provide the basics as well like oil, butter, salt & pepper, and Louisiana hot sauce!
Just past the primary bedroom you will find a generously sized laundry room with washer and dryer as well as additional supplies and must-haves like a first-aid kit and fire extinguisher. The second home also has another washer & dryer if you'd like to do your laundry before departure. Right past the kitchen space is the first of the two bathrooms which features a cast-iron tub with a shower, a pedestal sink, and a new historic reproduction toilet. The bathrooms include body wash and shampoo/conditioner as well as plenty of towels, and washcloths. The second home also has two similar bathrooms, one with a tub and one with a shower. And the master suite of the second home includes a large clawfoot tub and pedestal sink for in-suite relaxation.
The left side of the first house consists of the three bedrooms and in back are the two bathrooms. The first bedroom was originally the parlor for this side of the house and retains the most refined elements that the cottage had; plaster walls, high ceilings, and deep moldings, in addition to a fabulous original fireplace. This space also has the most light with a large front window, fitted again with luxurious trimmed drapery atop some fabulous historic reproduction wall-covering. This bedroom sleeps 4 with two queen beds and also has a large wardrobe, a dresser/vanity, and a little writing desk to sit all atop a heavy wool Persian rug.
The middle bedroom sleeps two comfortably in the two amazing French wicker twin beds, which include a variety of luxury bedding and both down & cotton pillows. This room also has a dresser and a place to sit and tie your shoelaces. All of the bedrooms have a fan if you need a little white noise to sleep and extra blankets, Kleenex, a luggage rack, and coat hangers.
The back bedroom is exquisitely decorated in Ralph Lauren wall-coverings, a chic sisal rug, linen roman shades with black-out lining, an antique rotary desk, and a large King size bed with custom bedding. This suite also has an adjoining closet for guests use who might have booked a longer stay with us. It has plenty of storage, a smart TV with a large variety of channels and on Demand TV/movies, and is of course cooled by our brand new 3 ton air conditioning system. Right past this suite is the second bathroom which has a step-in shower and a large pedestal sink for all of your travel essentials. Just outside this bathrooms in the closet is a hair dryer, full length mirror, extra towels, as well as plenty of extra toilet paper.
As you can see from the location map, we are situated right off of Frenchman Street which offers some of the best live music in New Orleans as well as a great weekend flea market and some charming coffee shops. We are also literally steps from the famous French Quarter and we are one of very few legal short term rentals in the area and the only option to stay in a truly luxury single family room this close to the Quarter. You can walk directly down Bourbon to expensive all night activity or take a stroll down one of our favorite streets during the day for great shopping, Royal Street. Jackson Square is about 10 minutes walking, and we send our personal restaurant and activity recommendations to every guest about a week prior to arrival so you will be able to enjoy some of the hidden gems around the Quarter, the Marigny, and the Bywater just like the locals!

Other things to note
You must enter your guest count correctly as our pricing depends on the number of guests in our home. The city of New Orleans also requires an accurate guest count and because we are a completely legal short term rental, we comply with all local rules and regulations. If you arrive with more guests than shown on your reservation, you will be assessed additional charges, you will lose your security deposit, and you may be evicted (at our discretion, or at the discretion of the city) without any refund whatsoever.
Lastly, for your security please be aware of our local laws on Short Term Rentals in New Orleans! There are no legal short term rentals allowed within the limits of the French Quarter of less than 30 days, with the exception of upper floor apartments that are physically on Bourbon Street where the bars and restaurants are (i.e., the rowdy, loud blocks). If you take the chance of renting in another French Quarter location, you risk the city shutting down the property prior to or during your stay- this is very likely as neighbors in the Quarter will report all short term rental activity. The only legal short term rentals in the city are on properties outside of the main French Quarter (i.e. east of Esplanade or North of Rampart) and even those require a live-in host. Any property without a live-in host must be zoned commercial in order to provide legal short term rentals- we are zoned commercial. If you are looking for a safe, walk-able environment then we highly recommend staying south of St Claude, south of where the trolley car line runs. Feel free to message us with questions about short term rental laws or safety concerns while renting in New Orleans; we want you to have a wonderful trip in our beautiful and historic city on the river!

This property was beyond amazing! I stayed here for my bachelorette party, total of 9 girls, and everything was perfect!
Location: 10/10 - grocery store + coffee shops were a short 2-minute walk away, Frenchmen Street was also a short walk, and Bourbon Street was a short Uber away. Area felt safe and very well situated for exploring.
Amenities: central air worked well and saved us in the August heat! The pool was delightful and a perfect size/temperature. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for light cooking/eating. Bedrooms were so comfortable, and everyone had enough room. There were also plenty of outlets and USB outlets.
Communication: messaging with the hosts was very easy. They were very responsive to all requests/questions, and we felt very well taken care of.
I highly recommend this property for any groups looking to visit NOLA, and I'd happily come back again myself!
5.0 / 5.0
We booked this property for a 40th birthday celebration. NOLA holds a special place for me (birthday girl) and we decided on a big gathering of friends and family to celebrate. This house can sleep up to 20 guests however, it is best for more couples than single people as all but one room has queen/double or king beds. On that note the beds were extremely comfortable!
This location was perfect for getting to and from all of the fun things we had planned, like The National WWII museum and the French Quarter.
The location also has plenty of street parking and we never had to park more than a few feet away at any given time.
The house has so much charm and is really well appointed. Both houses have laundry machines for as needed laundry. The kitchen is well appointed to cook for a whole group.
The pool was DIVINE! We spent almost every afternoon/evening cooling off in the pool. The courtyard was a great spot for all of us to hang out and enjoy the group time.
The host was masterful at communication from beginning to end. Prior to arrival he emailed very detailed instructions for check in/out including property layout and several attachments of great places to eat. We used the recommendations regularly! I was able to print all of this out and put in a folder for everyone to access while we visited.
Checking in and out was simple with the help from Tyler who was a delight with all of the details.
I loved this property so much. We will definitely be back!

From beginning to end, this stay was nothing short of incredible!! We stayed here for a girls weekend and were greeted by Tyler upon our arrival. He was informative, fun, and so welcoming! The photos do not do the house justice- it is impressive. Every little detail is historic, very NOLA, and so so cool. Each room is unique and well put together with amazing conveniences like soft sheets, comfy beds, fully stocked kitchen, etc. The pool and spa were perfect for a pool day and the location can’t be beat. The communication from Josh leading up to the stay was so detailed and helpful. Planning a trip for 15 women is overwhelming, and Josh made the lodging portion so simple. He sent a map of the property with beds in each room prior to the stay, recommendations for places to go, and was there for any small questions I had. This was hands down the best VRBO stay any of us had ever had! We were so sad to leave this charming house!

The houses are so beautiful and comfortable! The pool and hot tub were amazing and we highly recommend doing a craw fish broil in the outdoor space - not to mention the location is walking distance to so much!

Extremely clean and historic house, great location, pool was a hit, and new bedding on the beds. Located near some bars so there was some noise at night if that is an issue for your group.

Check in process for the house is seamless. Home owner was quick to address and questions prior to trip. Property is located with in easy walking distance of the places you want to be in New Orleans. Be careful of some of the doors when it rains they can be hard to close but over all the house and its accommodations are worth it.

House needs some minor repairs. Tub didn’t drain well, round showers hard to keep water inside basin. Some photos outdated. Exterior courtyard doors very flimsy and not secure. Most bedrooms did not have any way to hang clothes. Kitchen well stocked.

Beautiful property in great proximity to all of the French Quarter, but really nice for Marigny and Frenchman St.

This house was great. Comfortable and lots of space for a group trip. The outdoor space is very nice. Didn’t get a chance to use the pool or spa this trip.
Good location. Easy walk to Frenchmen St and Bourbon St. plenty of good restaurants and entertainment nearby.

This VRBO was stunning and beautifully decorated. We stayed here for a bachelorette and it was perfect with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms for our 8 guests across 2 connected houses. All of us want to book this stay again & come back!

I cannot tell you in words how amazing this property is. It is clean, so comfy, NOLA inspired, roomy, and has everything and I do mean everything you need or could ever want.
My family and friends had space to relax, AC to cool down, and a pool to enjoy!
The Ruby is just steps away, we also enjoyed a Drag Show steps away from our front door at Mags.
This is the perfect place to stay to enjoy all things NOLA. Bourbon, Frenchmen just 7-10 min walking distance. Close enough but far enough to escape.
I can’t thank the owners enough for sharing this space, and making life easy for the week we were there.
If you stay, please respect this property. It has a lot of history, and is full of amazing furnishings.
Thank you!!

Wonderful property near Frenchman Street, very comfortable, well furnished including a number of umbrellas. Pool was very welcome option to cool down during our hot summer vacation. Check-in and ceck-out very easy. We had a fabulous stay!

This house was lovely. Close enough walk to the quarter if you don’t mind a 20 min walk, which we didn’t. There were bars and clubs closer to the house if you want to stay a bit closer to the house at night. Everyone was comfortable in their rooms, and there was so much space a party of 10 never felt crowded. The pool was a nice place to cool off after sweating all over NO. Most importantly this place felt safe and the AC worked perfectly. We would all love to come back. Even the teenagers gave it a thumbs up.

We planned a weekend celebration for friends and family in New Orleans. 10 of us stayed at the house and it was more than enough room for all of us. The pool and common area between the houses served as a great coffee and happy hour spot for everyone. The location is convenient to the Quarter and Frenchman Street. Had a great time!

Incredibly clean, walkable to all sorts of great locations, very pleasant interactions with the owner - everything as advertised. 5 stars!
5.0 / 5.0
The place is a lot better looking in person. The photos don’t capture how clean and bright things are. The tall ceilings help. We enjoyed the pool and outside area and the large amounts of bedrooms. It’s in a great location in that it’s a short walk to all the nightlife but on a quiet enough block so it isn’t chaotic.

Our stay was fantastic. The place was exactly as advertised, and the perfect fit for our group. We loved the decor, the location and the pool and spa. The hosts were very communicative and flexible. I highly recommend this property and appreciated our stay!

I decided on New Orleans for my destination birthday because of this house. So New Orleans charming plus the location was perfect. Fantastic grocery across the street, walked to Frenchman Street for food and music every night, walked to Jackson square daily. The hot tub was such a winner after all that walking. House is very spacious. Neighborhood safe and quiet. Thanks for making this such a special birthday.

We especially enjoyed the hot tub, the kitchen (great gas stove) and the comfortable beds. Good neighborhood to stay in and a convenient walk across the street to a large grocery store that had everything we needed for making meals.

Joshua was a fantastic communicator who made our stay so easy. The homes are impeccably decorated, and it was so fun having two homes to enjoy! The pool was a godsend on hot, humid days. I highly recommend this listing for everyone!
5.0 / 5.0
Beautifully restored, great property. A few things that I think every traveler need to know before picking a spot, there is a great market with almost everything you could need right across the street (behind Starbucks) and fun bar (Mags) right next door. It did get a bit loud for a minute but nothing that kept us from sleeping. Super easy walk to Frenchman street but it was a bit more of a haul to get to the heart of the quarter. And yes, the pool is as small as it looks. More like a large hot tub. In August, it definitely was a hot tub.

Amazing!
Book this house! We had an amazing experience during our stay. The house is beautiful, clean, and perfectly located. The pool is the best way to cool off after sightseeing and a great way to relax after a long night on Bourbon Street. It is steps away from Frenchman Street and several public transit spots. We will definitely book here again!

Little Oasis
We rented this property for a bachelorette party. The host was extremely responsive and helpful. A property manager met us for an in person check in and he also was extremely helpful and gave us lots of recommendations for food and fun in the area. The property is walking distance to Frenchman and an LGBTQ area, perfect! I was nervous that the decor would be stuffy but it was charming. The beds were SO COMFORTABLE! Absolutely would book again!

Classic Charm & Magic
I have been to New Orleans many times in the past but this space truly made it something special. The decor is fabulous, all of the couches and beds were absurdly comfortable, and every amenity was thoughtful and worked perfectly. I will probably dream about this charming space for years to come!

Fauberg Fabulousness
With more than 10 years of excellent VRBO experiences, I must say that our family's early Christmas at Le Deux Rampart was our favorite home-away-from-home stay yet. The historic, beautiful and welcoming cottages provided the perfect backdrop for a comfortable, convenient and authentic New Orleans trip. Some of our party were old hands and fans of NOLA charm and feasting, and some of us were first-timers...we all loved everything about our time there and formed fond and long-lasting memories. The owner, Joshua, and property manager, Will, were both so helpful and accessible and pleasant. Five stars all the way. I wish I could recreate the architectural and design elements of the entire compound as my next home! Thank you for a wonderful visit.
