This is a spotless and well-appointed property with great views. Curtis was very attentive to our needs and is a great host. Everybody on the island knows him and likes him. We used taxis for our trips to town, and the drivers could be hit or miss a bit. Next time, we will rent a Jeep and save the cabs for when we want to drink on our adventures.

Bomballasy Villa is gorgeous. Myrtle and Curtis have done a fantastic job with the house. The rooms are thoughtfully designed and very comfortable. For just the two of us, it was more than enough.
The view of Cruz Bay is beautiful. Take it in from either the comfortable soaking pool or the 4 comfortable chaise lounges. A few steps around the side of the Villa, there’s a big hammock for chilling. Adjacent to that, a table/chairs for 4. Lots of ways to be comfortable outside and that’s where you’ll want to be, of course.
The location is right outside the big heart of the small town/city that is Cruz Bay. A 5 minute drive to the grocery store and, more or less, most of the restaurants and shopping.
In terms of the major Cruz Bay beaches, you’re about 15 minutes from Trunk Bay. (Leave the house at 9:30, if you hope to get parking.) Another 10 minutes and you’ll reach Cinnamon Bay.
Yes, the driveway is very steep. And you’ll drive a couple of equally steep hills getting to the home. But that’s where the views are. Do not be discouraged by it. (And frankly, if driving hills isn’t for you, then St. John probably isn’t for you.) A rental Jeep with good brakes and you’re golden. You may even get the opportunity to stop for a herd of goats who have decided to have a meal there. (Goats know a good climb.) but
Myrtle and Curtis are ideal hosts. Available right when you need them. Otherwise, you are completely left to your own devices. Sound like you might love it? You will.

House was clean and well supplied. Beautiful view overlooking Great Cruz Bay. The drive into Cruz Bay was less than 5 minutes. Coolers, chairs, towels and floats were provided which made our beach trips more enjoyable. Curtis was great. Very polite and professional and went above and beyond when we had a Jeep return issue. I would highly recommend this house. Thanks Curtis!

The Views from Bombalassy Villa was incredible. When we first arrived unfortunately it rained for 3 days (the tail end of the hurricane). It did not stop us from enjoying ourselves. Plenty of game choices to chose to entertain us & cable tv to choose movies as well. We also went into town during the rain & enjoyed lunch at Mongoose Junction. Curtis Penn has a big family that also works on the island, so we hired them to make our trip to St. John memorable. We were hesitant to drive the winding roads so we hired Richie as our taxi, Ronnie (Starfish Tours) gave us a private tour of the island filling us in on the people/history of St John & Curtis (owner of Bombalassy Villa) is an amazing captain of his beautiful 36ft boat to take us on a private tour of the island…the best time ever! Yes, we circled the entire island while he narrated the history of the islands National Park which is most of the island, stopped at all the bays to snorkeled (incredible) but the best cove we loved was the one we stopped for lunch, Coral Bay…a floating eatery named “Lime Out” Taco Bar. You swim up to these floating tables enjoying Drinks & fresh homemade spectacular Tacos. The Penn Family gave us the Best Vacation Ever! Thank You Curtis!

My wife and I had an amazing time coming back to St. John and staying at the Bombalassy. This was our 20-year anniversary trip and was absolutely awesome. The owner has Jeep rentals available and does private charter boat trips. Thank you Curtis for the great accommodation.

We had never been to St. John and frankly my 16 year old daughter picked this one. Well, it is great primarily because of the owner. He treats you like family and has real pride in his villa. You can text him with any question and he answers right away. Also, everyone knows him. Everyone.
We drove everywhere on the island and after being everywhere I can tell you that this location can’t be beat. 10 minutes to all of the shopping and restaurants at Cruz Bay and 25 minutes to Hawksnest Beach. And yet the villa is very private.
The villa was wonderful with large windows and sliding glass doors so you have a nice breeze at all times and a great pool!
Highly recommend this villa!

We were looking for a place to stay that was conveniently located to beaches and restaurants and it was perfect! The views were amazing. The driveway is quite steep but we mastered it quickly enough. They had every amenity we needed and surprised us with a basket of goodies waiting on the counter. Very friendly and easy to work with.

Villa Bombalassy is a nice 2 bedroom house overlooking Great Cruz Bay (Westin Hotel). It is a short drive to Cruz Bay, Starfish Market and the North shore Beaches. The kitchen, half bath, washer and dryer, living room and dining area, are on the first floor. The two bedrooms are upstairs and have blessed AC. The outdoor showers are refreshing and everything you need for a week away is provided by the hosts. I would recommend this for a couple alone, two couple or a family with young children. Be aware the stairs are steep to go up to the driveway and up to the bedrooms, so if mobility is an issue, please consider this information. Overall it is a very pleasant villa to rent.

We had the best time at Villa Bombalassy on St. John. Curtis and Myrtle are responsive, friendly, and made the logistics easy. The property is beautiful - we especially loved the patio view and indoor/outdoor shower construction. Rental property bed comfort can be a roll of the dice, so we were very pleased to have such a comfortable sleep environment! The house is well appointed and the little touches didn’t go unnoticed. We also rented a Jeep - pick up/drop off was a breeze and it was a great vehicle for the steep/twisty island driving. We would definitely rent from Curtis and Myrtle again!

The villa was perfect! The view was amazing! Having a cocktail on the deck and a dip in the pool was the perfect way end to our beach days. We rented a Jeep from Curtis and pick up and drop off were very convenient. The A/C in the bedrooms worked well and only took about 15 min to cool off once we started the units each night. Curtis and Myrtle were great hosts. We can't wait to return.

This was our second visit to Bombalassy. We love this property. It's close to town; it's comfortable; and Curtis and Myrtle are excellent hosts. We love sitting on the patio and watching the boats in Great Cruz Bay come and go. After spending the day hiking and sitting on the beach, the patio and plunge pool are so welcoming. Looking forward to returning in 2024.

Fabulous views of Grand Cruz Bay and surrounding hills, and of both sunrise and sunset. Outdoor pool, outdoor patios. Roomy 2 bedroom villa. It sits halfway down a very steep driveway. Advice: rent a jeep from the owner. Close to the restaurants and shops of Cruz Bay and the National Park. Snorkeling, hiking, dining adventures on a beautiful island.

The property has a wonderful view of great Cruz bay looking down on the Westin. The pool was just right for hanging out after a day at the beach. It was just right for two couples. I would highly recommend this property.

The villa was wonderful. It was the best stocked property we have stayed in. It even had cat food for the neighborhood kitty. Great parking and a wonderful view of the bay. Comfortable beds. All of the rooms had screens so air con was not necessary. The house was very clean and tastefully appointed. The only real issue was from the Westin; the live music at night was surprisingly loud. We prefer to be serenaded by tree frogs and rustling palm fronds. So shut the windows and all is forgiven. We would be very happy to stay at the property again

What an amazing Villa! The views are spectacular and the pictures don’t do it justice. The pool was perfect to watch the boats come in and out of the bay all day. Close to the markets to grab food and grill. Visited by a friendly black cat at night we fed some shrimp and water. Kitchen had everything we could’ve needed for our dine-in nights. We may have spent too much time in the Villa as we skipped a beach day in favor of grilling and lounging by the pool. We will be back and I will be telling all of my friends about this place and it’s sister villa. Thank you Curtis, Myrtle & Richie for a wonderful time!

Beautiful and unique property prettier even than pix. Amazing views from every room. Hosts super helpful in every way. Gave us all instructions for getting from St Thomas airport all the way to St John’s ferry landing. We rented our Jeep from them as well, and they provided pick up and drop off at ferry landing which sure made transitions easy. In person introduction to the accommodation. Breeze off the bay kept the living areas w/o AC from getting too hot, and AC in bedrooms worked great. Comfy beds and thick thirsty towels for showers and poolside. It was a perfect 10!

Simply Amazing!
We stayed at 3 different places during our trip on St. John, all at similar price points, and this place by far was our favorite! From the incredible view, the private pool, the open air showers, you can’t ask for a better accommodation. Something else we realized, from staying at other spots on the island, is that you really score with the location/direction of this home in regards to the amazing breeze that it constantly gets - which helps considerably with bugs and overall comfort with the heat. We had the windows and doors open nonstop and it was heaven. Another huge plus was the well stocked kitchen. It made a world of a difference to have all the essentials when we made meals at the home, and was much appreciated. The furnishings are beautiful and comfortable, host is responsive, and yes the driveway is scary steep - but so is every other driveway and road in St. John! So if that is a concern for you, don’t stay on the island ;) Don’t miss out on staying here. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay at this home the entire vacation. If/when we come back, this will be my home of choice hands down!

This was our second time on St John and staying in Cruz Bay. We loved the location and the private pool was perfect for evening dips. We had a great week and are already talking about when we can come back!

Summer 2022
Curtis was great to work with and easy to get in touch with. The house was clean and had great views, but we had a few issue with bugs in the kitchen getting into our sealed food. We ended up storing everything in the refrigerator. The driveway down to the house was really bumpy and made for a rough ride. The windows should be replaced they were hard to open along with the handles falling off frequently.
We loss power the first few days so it made of a hot night of sleeping the first night we arrived.
I would recommend this house just beware of the the items mentioned for your trip.
