Great views of the harbour. The cottage was very warm even in the depths of winter with snow and wind outside. The cottage has a very cosy lounge area with character and a log burner.
To be honest, the overall stay was met and reasonably comfortable for my needs. The basic requirement for me was an openfire/logburner. Which worked well for me.
However.. There were bits that I think require to be addressed;
Firstly, the key safe on arrival was rusted shut and took 20 minutes to gain entry. This I did with my own WD40. A thorough dusting, especially the lights in the kitchen. The fridge light didn't work, and neither did the shaver light and power in the bathroom. I had to clean out the outside drains and bath plughole due to hair and leaves, etc. I did have to phone the caretaker to rod out the sewers as they were blocked. But they did fix this within an hour. The pop plug in the bath doesn't work, so you have to prize out the plug with the edge of your nails. A cuboard handle that hides the washing machine just fell off, as did the toilet roll holder and towel ring. The ovens' face showing power levels and grill/oven have worn away, so I had to work out what worked!
The different colured bin liners were left in the relevant bins outside, but not in the kitchen, which seemed a little odd?
A few extre untentils in the kitchen wouldn't go a miss.
For some reason, one of the Kitchen cubards was full of utility bills!??
None of the above affected my overall stay, but these issues need addressing if one is going to rent out a product to the paying public.

It was near the sea front
It was full of damp, felt damp. The log burner not working, bird nest in chimney pot.Worded controls on cooker missing,Beam on top of stairs very low, kept banging our heads.Plug in bath doesn’t fit, bath plug hole full of grime, disgusting.Heating barely came on,so was cold with damp in house. It needs a updating, never stayed anywhere with so much damp. It’s not child friendly at all.No hand rail, and bannister very loose.Spare bedroom had stonework showing.
O
Outside was full of weeds, wasn’t welcoming at all.

2 minutes from harbour and amenities
Bit disappointed that log burner inop when we arrived we
had brought 3 x bags of logs to enjoy cosy nights . Prior notice would of been good .
No spare toilet roll , just one on hanger
Bath plug leaked so water drained away when having a soak .

Really great size, comfortable, nice outdoor courtyard, great location. Comfortable sofas.
Lack of Wi-Fi, although we knew this when we booked, none of us could get a phone signal unless we went out up top of bank, so felt a little bit awkward if elderly relatives at home needed to get in touch. Would have happily paid a reasonable price for a weeks Wi-Fi

Loved Grimes Cottage, it was right where we wanted to be and was cosy and clean and comfortable. Which is all we're looking for in a holiday rental. Staithes is a lovely location, a bit quieter than we thought at first ( we arrived mid-week) but this picked up at the weekend and probably to be expected in winter. Cottage was toasty warm and the fire was worth the effort using . All in all , a really good holiday and highly recommended for anyone looking....
Key collection information went a bit awry which was awkward sorting from Staithes...( no phone/Internet reception in many spots) and hot water was 'interesting' but sort-able. Instructions to get to cottage were vague and maybe a little map would have helped? Nothing too horrendous though.....we loved it!

the view from upstairs window
issues finding it as property below was also a grimes nook
tried in rain to get into wrong property. the door is on the side with no light so up a small passage
no reception so could not get hold of contact for help and no internet to communicate issues till we left
the back yard had timber with nails in it as guttering taken down - not safe with dogs
only one proper wine glass.
I believe the last managing property has rectified some of these issues.
just felt we deserved a discount

Fabulous location with outdoor space lovely to have a wood burner and lashings of hot water
The fridge froze things on the top shelf and the kitchen units were a little tired
