Staff very friendly and courteous and helpful. Couldn't do enough for us disabled friendly
That's nothing to dislike

This is a great location and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
This is an old iconic building, be prepared for this. We didn’t have any problems with this but don’t expect modern rooms. Other facilities were very good and worked well for our needs.
3.8
Great location, friendly staff
Lifts a bit small…as I can’t really think of a dislike!

The location of the hotel is very good, on the seafront and close to shops and restaurants. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Beds were wobbly and uncomfortable and rooms were extremely hot. We would have kept the window open but our room faced a loading dock and there were lorries coming in and out all day and night so it was very noisy. It took more than 5 minutes for the water in the shower to heat up, which is a terrible waste of water. One of the lamps and several of the plug sockets in our room did not work. Parking is extremely limited and was not available when we stayed. Lifts are tiny (could barely fit 4 people). Overall the hotel is passable but there are many things that made it feel old and tired.

It was a great location and staff were nice.
The 5th floor, where we stayed, reeked of damp. The elevator was tiny and slow. I have disabilities and couldn't manage the stairs. The room was dated, the shower was coming out of the wall, and the bath was dirty. Tge capets in the halls were very dusty around the edges. I didn't look much further coz I didn't want to know.

Location only
Rooms weren’t modern and bathroom tap was leaking carpet dirty could see pipes

Very friendly tye bar and reception area very relaxing. Breakfast was relaxed and very good food.Staff very helpful and friendly
Not much to dislike the upstairs could do with a coat of paint and bathroom needs a facelift but the bedroom was comfortable definitely would stay there again

Location
Lift was very old and small,
Very dated upstairs
The lady in the reception was very rude, I nearly something, but was stopped by my partner
3.8
Nice big room on the second floor well away from the noisy bar next door at street level.
Lots of writing space at the desk plus another small table and chairs.
No need to go out for a dinner, food available in the Messdeck.
Slow, scruffy lift.

We last stayed here 34 years ago, though we know Brighton well. The price was good for New Year's Eve. The room was a little tired looking but comfortable and the staff were welcoming. The location is very handy for buses, trains and the town centre. A solid choice.
Breakfast was a bit boring and limited for 15 pounds a head. The public spaces look quite past their best with some furnishings seeming to date from when I came here as a teenager.

El desayuno excelente y el personal muy amable.
La escalera de la entrada es incómoda para subir las maletas, sería recomendable que tuvieran una rampa.
3.8
Staff were all very helpful and cheerful
Certainly updating needed but sort of added to the charm of the place
3.8
The warm and friendly staff, and nothing is a problem. It’s also, nice to deal with a team with such great fun, but the utmost professionalism.

Location - staff - young lady on check in and the guy who works I. The garage exceptional
Tired and in need of investment

The view
Bed. Lack of plug socket. Leaking window. Shower burnt our foot. Room was dated. Lack of lights. Poor maintained walls.

Comfy beds, great location and love music going on in the bar, nice breakfast on first day shame no scrambled eggs as an option but plenty of juice, melon and toast also.
The shower had a mind of its own. Room was very hot even though the weather was not great but thankfully there was a fan in the wardrobe. Breakfast was hot and miss, coffee disgusting so had tea second morning. No tomatoes on Sunday and only one type of egg usually there would be scrambled. Lighting really poor for ladies getting ready to go out so bring a make up mirror!

I would stay there again.
I had to drag my case a long way.

Great location right on the beach front.
Very small car park on first come, first served basis which is not possible to book. The lanes car park opposite, to which guests are directed once the car park is full, is extremely expensive. Decor and facilities in general are old and worn.
3.8
Location was good
Breakfast was greasy hotel a bit dated
3.8
Original old hotel with character situated on the beach front
Our room could have had a little better furniture, could have been a bit more updated and decorated a bit more appealing.
3.8
Just location
Very poor service
3.8
Breakfast was excellent
3.8
Location - right on Brighton beach. Harry the parking garage guy was cheerful and gave excellent service.
This is one of the oldest hotels in Brighton and it shows. You could say it's character but it's just really old and you have to navigate the many floor levels and leans. Food and bar prices were a bit high too.
3.8
Great stay just disappointing that the price was so inflated due to a nurses conference as we are loyal customers
3.8
Great location and a nice building. Good to sit outside in the sunshine with a drink and people watch😂.
The hotel is quiet tired and could do with a few quid spent on it.
3.8
The location is fantastic, the room was lovely and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The check in was simple and quick and same with the check out. Being on the sea front was brilliant. Breakfast was really nice too and the staff there couldn't do enough for you.
I think it is in need of a refurbishment. It's a little tired and needs a bit of work. There are cracks in the walls and it needs a lick of paint. Having said that, it was still cleaned nicely enough, just needs updating that's all.
3.8
The room was bigger than expected, light & airy.
On the seafront, so the location was perfect.
The food was excellent.
I was surprised that there was neither porridge nor scrambled eggs as a breakfast choice.
