Large spacious room, nice garden area for sitting in.
Looking a bit tired in places. Broken blinds and paint needing touched up.

Lovely friendly staff, nice big room for the family. Enjoyed our meal.
Toilet fluah was unreliable and the bed finial was broken (leaving a sharp screw exposed)

Location, value for money, restaurant, bar
Shower but only there for one night

It had a good atmosphere, obviously it was being refreshed but it was a good atmosphere.

staff very friendly, excellent choice of food, well presented by chef, delicious.
only disappoint at first was the room that was allocated to us on arrival. Looked tired, and bathroom was not up to standard we expected. However receptionist was very understanding and allocated a better bedroom, which was excellent. No fuss was made.
would recommend hotel and probably re - visit. Grounds were lovely, situation of hotel ideal.

The location of the hotel is fine, breakfast was ok but could have been served with a smile! Instead there was one young girl dealing with all, with just minimal help from the sour face managers
Our room was nothing like the room that we expected, we expected a deluxe double but instead had a room with two single beds pushed together! Carpets were dirty both in our room and outwith our room! The shower grouting was grubby and the bath panel dirty! There was also a massive pipe above our bed that had 2 inches of dust on it ( not healthy at all )!! Paint chipped and grubby!! Also when we had checked in and went down to the bar we were informed they could not serve alcohol due to a licensing issue ( I asked why we had not been informed of this before or on arrival and was told by a very sharp manager that this had only happened that morning, unfortunately for her the receptionist was more honest and informed us it had been in this situation for 5 days!! The manager was very sharp and did not take criticism well ( she needs to work on her people skills )! We should have been informed when we booked or before or on arrival NOT when we went to the bar!!!!! Our stay was booked to help me relax due to it being the anniversary of my mothers death a year ago ( after a year which saw me lose both parents 6 months apart and my mother-in-law ) unfortunately this just left me more stressed!!

Location, Ambiance, staff, food, room, gardens. Parking. A great hotel we will be back!
Room and hotel in general was too hot. But much better than being too cold!!

Lovely quiet and comfortable hotel, loved the open fires. Staff very friendly, food was amazing. Would highly recommend it.
Only downside, there is no lift, so wouldn't be suitable for anyone that can't manage stairs

Breakfast was superb; freshly cooked and warm . Staff friendly; room large and roomy; bath robes and fluffy white towels excellent.
Shower ran hot and cold ; did report it on leaving and was assured it would be checked !
The dressing table was a bit dusty in the intricate crevasses; but a very minor point .

Location in Banchory
Understand hospitality industry going through a difficult time but this hotel is now needing some investment. starting to look shabby. new hotel manager seemed to be doing everything at breakfast. appeared to be very short staffed.

Selection for breakfast was good and service quick.
Husband would have preferred better choice of beer on tap. Think bar area should at least have nibbles to offer to guests. We were not affected by the lift working but could see this having been a problem for some people. Feel that the woodwork of windows could definitely be freshened up. First impressions count.

Grand old building situated within it's own extensive grounds. Plenty of parking space. Our room on the first floor was large and bright. It had an adapted walk in shower . Food was excellent and good value (we had breakfast and dinner). Friendly and helpful staff
Breakfast was a bit rushed . The young staff seemed a bit too eager to please. Not a complaint -they are learning !!

Dinner was fantastic
