comfortable bed
separate toilet opposite my room which was bizarre.
phone number to call on the door was wrong.
separate toilet and room key is odd.
decor is dated and old fashioned.

Everything! The room was very clean, warm (it was very cold the day we arrived) and comfortable. Excellent tea selection. Shower water power was perfect! Breakfast was fabulous and fast, hats off to the chef! The owner was gracious and kind. Would definitely recommend a longer stay as I only stayed 2 nights.
Nothing. Truly a wonderful place to stay.

It's very close to the ice rink for those playing ice hockey, close to town(15 mins walk), it was immaculately clean, the key was massive and reminiscent of a cartoon, the bed was very cosy and the room was warm. The bathroom was immaculately clean, which was very welcome after a day of ice hockey tournament
Very narrow car parking access; we just managed to get our skinny Ford Fiesta through the gap between the house and the tree, far too expensive for what was offered, but it did its purpose when I had to catch some zzzzs for the next day's games. I couldn't close my door, the door had to be locked shut. Really, in this day/age?

Parking + late check in
There is what sounds like a fan motor hidden in the roof above the bed in Room 9 where I was staying. This was noisy and left on all night.

Beautiful building, period features, really lovely. Rooms excellent. Breakfast and staff great.
Only negative was the hairdryer in room 5. Feel it needs replaced.
4.1
Beautiful house, lovely breakfast, beds to soft for us and a bit too far to the centre of town for us to walk.
Beds too soft, distance to centre for restaurants.
4.1
Plenty of parking, good breakfast, comfortable room.
Didn't appear to be any staff on site overnight. Although we had a perfectly good sleep and the house was very quiet, I can imagine if there was a noisy guest it would affect everyone
4.1
the cleanliness and the breakfast
the awful mattress on the bed which lead to a sleepless night and a day out on the Sunday being cancelled as we had to head home for a rest

Cant fault this guest house at all, would highly recommend. Staff were great, very attentive, made sure we had everything for our 2 night stay. Rooms were spotless & comfortable. Plenty to eat, breakfast was lovely. Close to the bus stop to go into town. We will defo be back. If ur looking to get away for a few days to dumfries, this is the place to book.

The guesthouse was very clean, tea/coffee/water in the room with soft towels, tv and hairdryer. Lots of storage in room for clothes. Free WiFi with a good signal, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. I liked the location, lots of parking, nice decor. Bedroom was warm and cosy. Much larger than I expected. I would definitely recommend staying here. 🙂
My room had two single beds, one of which was very narrow and the other had a mattress too big for the frame so it sloped to one side. After rolling off the bed twice on the first night, I moved the two beds together which solved the problem! A mattress topper would be a nice addition for a little more comfort 🙂 I missed not having haggis in my full breakfast 😮

I was taken aback with the Rivendell, possibly the best hotel I have stayed in to which there are many, the ambience and the decor are stunning, the staff so friendly

Very easy to find, good secluded parking area around the rear of the property. Easy access to the Hotel even though the reception was closed. Good comfortable room with good sized television. Very nice cooked breakfast included in the price. Pleasant and efficient staff.
The room seemed a little dark, not helped by the dark stained doors.
A little far from the centre of town though it is an easy 20 min walk.
