What a wonderful gem of a hotel .
Wendy and Steve are very welcoming and make you feel at home straight away , even offering cake and bottles water on arrival after our long journey . The room was fantastic with the attention to detail a huge 10 out of 10 , everything has been thought out perfectly .
We had a ground floor room with a door to a lovely little outdoor seating area .
A short 5 minute walk to the seafront (Wendy gave us a short cut ) , and a 10 /15 minute walk to the town and main harbour area bustling with bars cafe and shops
We love it so much we have already spoken to them about availability for next year
If I could give this stay an 11 I would

Wendy & Steve were so hospitable and just lovely, and couldn’t do enough to make sure I had an excellent stay.
The room was comfortable and ideal for just one, the breakfast selection was delicious and the location was great too!
Nothing, I very much enjoyed my stay.

The location was good, near the Abbey and a short walk to the the bay where there are lots of bars and restaurants. A nice clean hotel with good facilities and parking on site.
There is a large, airy breakfast room, a nice bar and lounge and a small but pretty garden with chairs overlooking a park.
Our room was very lovely and comfortable with good facilities. We particularly liked the quirky furniture and the comfy armchairs. Lots of mirrors and good lighting too. Useful luggage storage and having an iron in the room was handy. It was good to be able to open the window for fresh air as it was a warm weekend (there was also a fan if we needed it) although we were by a busy road. The traffic noise didn't bother us as we're used to it but it could bother others I guess.
The wasn't much sound leakage from other rooms which is nice.
The bathroom was clean and roomy with a good bath and shower. And fluffy towels 😀.
The breakfast was great, well cooked and filling with a good selection. I particularly liked the homemade yoghurt.
Wendy and Steve are great hosts, very friendly and helpful. (Thanks for the restaurant recommendations). They run a great hotel and they have good staff working for them.
We were in Torquay to attend a weekend conference and it turned out that most of the guests were also attending. We had an early start and Wendy actually changed the breakfast timing to suit us all. This was above and beyond and very much appreciated.
We highly recommend the hotel and will stay here again.
Black pudding on the breakfast as I don't like to eat it, but it was swapped for an extra egg without any trouble, just a nice smile.
I really had to scrape the barrel to think of a negative point as this hotel is so nice.

Very friendly, welcoming and hospitable hosts….nothing was too much trouble and they were very helpful recommending local places to eat. They were so accommodating in making us an early take away breakfast when we had to leave early on the day of our departure.

The breakfast was delicious. Wendy and her husband were very welcoming. Car parking was easy.
I thought the bathroom to the single room was a bit small. I don't think I could have negotiated the shower cubicle and one could only sit on the loo at an angle. Also I was a bit cold.

The hosts were very welcoming and friendly, going the extra mile to help make our stay comfortable (from carrying bags to advice on taxis).
We loved the honesty bar and breakfast room (delicious homemade yoghurt and fruit salad alongside a great cooked breakfast).
Our rooms were comfortable and very clean. The location was just a few minutes from the Abbey and the seafront. Both rooms had lovely views.
Everything was great! I'd love a hash brown or two with breakfast but that's being greedy

Hosts Wendy and Steve provide a warm and welcoming greeting and nothing is to much trouble during you stay. They are well on the way to making The Berburry a lovely boutique place to stay. Decoration and style are in keeping and you can see Steve’s heritage construction influence. We stayed in the suite which was spacious and well decorated. linen and towels are of a good quality and well presented. You have ample drink making facilities in your room including the offer of fresh milk. The breakfast was very good and locally sourced (something they are proud of and happy to talk about)and tailored to your requests. The location was ideal only 10 minuets to sea front and station, plus a park is located immediately across the road.
There is limited room for parking at the establishment itself and access could be problematic for some. There is however ample street parking around. There are plenty of creeks and groans (probably age) within the house and you can hear people moving around which some may find distracting. Some of the windows in the property are in need of refurbishment and Steve has a sympathetic plan for these if Torquay council planning can see sense.

Wendy and Steve were lovely. Very friendly and welcoming. They gave us some great tips. The venue itself was great. Very close to the train station, seafront, and town centre. Our room was cosy and lovely. We definitely recommend The Berburry and will be going back again. Thank you for a great stay! 😄
There was nothing we didn't like.

The breakfast was excellent with a wonderful choice of cooked. It was cooked fresh to order, the fruit salad was lovely and fresh. Quirky way to present the yoghurts, very impressed. Loved the fact that fresh milk and cold water was available for our room.
