This is a superb hotel. We loved every minute of our stay here. the design and interior are modern, the staff is amiable and attentive and the food is exquisite. We would have loved to extend our welcome if not for the hefty price tag.
We were contacted in regards to our preference of dinner choice: Western Style or sushi. We chose to have one and one but were a bit disappointed to find that "sushi" meant kaiseki since we are not huge kaiseki fans. The food was top notch but we might have decided differently had we known about the specific nature of the dinner. Other than that, the spa area could be renovated and changed to match the rest of the beautiful modern hotel.

The location, staff was super friendly and helpful and the hotel was serene and peaceful. Everything was amazing
You need a taxi/car to get to the hotel which is common for the area. The hotel provides a shuttle service to the common areas.

Beautiful property and lovely staff. Room was super clean and comfortable. Great scenic view from the room.
Would have liked the breakfast buffet to be more elaborate. Felt limited

A very large and comfortable room for our family of 5.
The restaurants on site were a bit pricey. Although the room service was good and the portions were very generous. We had a difficult time finding alternate places to eat within walking distance.

It was an excellent hotel but this is reflected in the price, which is quite a lot. The staff were friendly and helpful and all amenities were clean. The Onsen spa was nice to try and felt very clean. The shuttle bus to and from Odawara and the cable cars was very handy!
It was further from the centre of Hakone and the town than I realised, and I was not aware of the shuttle bus until a few days before when my husband happened to notice it. Therefore we weren't booked on so it would have been helpful to know about this. However, the staff were very accommodating and put us on the staff bus for our return to Odawara station.

We enjoyed the views and the quietness of the location. Having an onsen on property was amazing.
The location was great however it felt like it was in the middle of no where. The food options were limited.

Nothing except nature around it.
We payed a huge sum of money for two nights of stay. And we didn’t find anything expected. The staff was very unfriendly and sometimes rude. There was no public transportation around the hotel. If someone wants to go early morning then there was no option because drop service of hotel started at 10 and it needs to be booked beforehand which was full in most of the timeslots. I mean if there were so many guests because it was peak season, they should have arranged more cars.
Its just a big name but no big area. If you are expecting some huge resort in midst of lush green settings, forget it. Its only concrete with no creativity. The hotel starts and ends in building. They do have onsen but its also not open. Its a closed one.

There were lots of European dishes on the menu and thought that it could be a disaster to eat that in Japan. But the food quality and dining was consistently top notch. I later read that he chef has a long time experience in working Parisian Michelin star restaurants. But I could tell it wasn’t just standard average hotel food, it was consistently delicious, there was some skill. Sushi from the other restaurant was also tasty. Free evening drinks in the lounge were a nice touch, enjoyed daily Champagne. Also, some rather delicious Chardonnay on the menu by the glass. One young waiter made our stay exceptional as he was very good with our 1.5 year old son, he made us feel welcome every time, that was sweet, thank you.
The hotel isn’t super flexible with kids running around after certain time in the lounge area as a lot of other guests just go there for drinking and socialising, there’s a certain atmosphere.

Nothing
- not value for money
- staffs couldn’t communicate in English
- the bed is not comfy at all
- the service is like a 2 stars hotel
- on the first day of arrival, the hotel refused us to dine in in the restaurant as it’s fully booked . we couldn’t imagine that we will be in the middle of nowhere where all the restaurants will be closed.

I like the neighbouring environment, very quiet. Staff are very professional. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel during our stay. The food were very delicious, with classy presentation. The Sashimi and seafood were fresh. The Wagyu beef melted in your mouth. Thank you to both chefs. It was a big surprise that we were offered private room for the first two dinner. Mr. Masayuki Konishi, Assistant Manager of Food & Berverage was so attentive and professional. The Saki he recommended to go with the Japanese food was excellent.
Recommend travellers to have their meals at the hotel.
The onsen and massage were GREAT!! A must to try the massage if you stay there. Recommend to book the massage as soon as you check-in the hotel. They are busy.
Be mindful that the location is up on the hill and very remote. If you are not driving in Hakone, you have to rely on the Hotel shuttle bus to go between Gora Station. The last pickup from Gora Station is 6:30pm
Suggest the buffet breakfast to include at least a few different food every morning. We ate the same kind of food for 3 mornings.
