Nice location. And the shower was good.

Great that breakfast was included. Manager very obliging and changed our room, without being asked, when he saw that i was limping.

Some breakfast options provided. Wifi worked very well.
Dorms don't lock. Also no secure luggage storage. Lack of electric sockets in the dorm. The hostel is a bit worn out.

24hr access to kitchen. Linen and blankets provided. Room was very clean as well as the bathroom. Management and staff were extra helpful and allowed us the use of the main lodge for extra eight hours when our afternoon ferry cancelled. Transport supplied to the terminal at no extra charge, showing kindness to strangers.
Everything went smoothly. No hassles at all.

Perfect for an overnight stay before catching the ferry, bed was comfortable and room fine for the night.

Friendly host and uncomplicated early checkout 😊 plenty of space under the bed (if your luggage fits)
Small room if traveling with larger luggage

Nice location, great price, spacious and clean room and bathroom.
I stayed in a private room and had everything necessary provided except hand soap for the sink. Not a big deal because there was a shop nearby, but something to note, bring your own!

Lovely owner and fantastic ease of check-in at pretty much anytime. Other guests were polite and friendly. This place is extremely good value, for the price paid (with it being in picton) its flaws can be overlooked for a quick night before or after the ferry.
The place was extremely dated and not the cleanest for sure. Very dirty fridges and kitchen. Stains on the bedsheets and terrible shower with no pressure and impossible to keep at a good temperature.

Nice room with ensuite good value

It was adequate for an overnight stop and ticked all the boxes

Trucks passing for an hour off the night ferry (3am). Kitchen not very clean and breakfast very basic.

staff are hugely helpful and work long hours
I stayed in a bunk with a shared bathroom. The bathroom was dirty and I didn’t feel comfortable using the shower.

I took the ferry at 8 pm in Wellington so I arrived in Picton at 11pm.
We were able to do a late check-in even if the reception was closed.
Everything was prepared and indicated on the letter so we could have a nice sleep after this journey !
I don't know if they still do the pudding at night but unfortunately I missed that ! :) I should have come earlier :)
It was good to stay here again, the last time I came to Sequoia was 7 years ago when I was working here as a woofer! That brought me some good memories of this place !

close to the ferry, free breakfast, very comfy, very friendly staff

I love the friendliness of the place. Nothing is too much trouble and there is everything on hand that you would need. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and cooking facilities. Makes the journey easy to plan around.
Can't think of anything that I didn't like.

The only two things that were positive: the manager picked me up from the ferry station and they offered me breakfast.
I do not recommend it. It was dirty and the manager was not nice.

We stayed here twice this year and loved it both times. Really friendly atmosphere with large, comfy and well equipped kitchen, dining & seating areas . Free breakfast every day. Easy walk into Picton ( and we are 75 yrs and 67 yrs one of us with arthritis!) for shopping, coffee and fishing on the pier-or boat trips . Pick up and drop off , no charge, to ferry and train station. Rooms adequate size, clean and comfy.
Nothing. It is basic, comfy, clean backpackers with wonderful chances to meet and chat to all sorts of people.
Excellent value for the price.

The staff is really nice and helpful. Great value
