Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Left luggage facility pre and post check-in. Comfortable, safe, quiet and exceptionally clean in rooms and throughout building. Perfect location for exploring York. Great exhibition about Mary Ward and the history of the building, which is definitely worth a visit.

My parents loved everything about the stay- the accommodation, staff, breakfast, and learning about the unique history of the building. Also amazing location.

Great Breakfast, plenty of choice. Room clean and tidy plenty of room and comfortable.
Location was far enough away (10 mins walk) from centre as not to be crowded and noisy.

Very clean and great location.

Kind, helpful, friendly staff.
Breakfast was fine for us, however, the continental element could have been more extensive.
Wonderful gardens.
Excellent exhibition.
Architectural features.
The room was fine but, being ultra critical, the shelf space in the toilet was a little lacking for toilet bags, shaving equipment et al, but this is often the caes.

We had such a wonderful three days there . Everything about it was amazing. Great accommodation, great breakfasts served by lovely staff. We were a party of three ( old school/ nursing friends )with single rooms. The rooms were spotless and they had thought of everything. The gardens were beautiful too and we sat outside as the weather was perfect.
The location was great too as we all travelled by train from different areas of the UK. We are looking forward to returning next year.

This is a delightful property, very close to the town wall & gate. Parking and the railway station were nearby. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean.
Breakfast in the atrium was a highlight of each day, and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed visiting the museum and gaining a sense of the history of the convent and this order of nuns.
There's nothing thing not to like about this property.
5.0
The quirkiness of the place, the history, the garden, the on site cafe. Reception staff excellent. It really felt that those who worked here really loved the place too. Proximity to station was superb and as I was there for grandson's graduation, the buses from the station worked a treat. The breakfast was exceptional quality for within the price. The place is a joy, you can get some cheaper and decent B&Bs but not with this character and convenience of location. Loved it!
That I couldn't stay even longer.

The location is minutes away from the train station and there is a car park around the corner. The rooms are lovely and clean and the on site cafe is a bonus. The breakfast was great with plenty of continental and cooked options.
There was nothing not to like.

Excellent location just three minutes walk from the railway station and right next to the city wall. Staff were lovely and so helpful. The single room was spacious and comfortable with all the facilities you would expect. Ideal for anyone travelling alone. Good choice of food for breakfast.

Location
lift is broken during my stay. have to deal with the suitcase with stairs.
Front door sometimes close. Do need to expect some wait time for people to open the door. If you need catch up train, just plan the door wait time in advance.

The location is fantastic. Literally at the gates to the old city and a 2 minute walk from the railway station. An atmospheric Georgian Building full of history and significance. The ensuite bedroom was a good size and breakfast was excellent.
The temperature in the bedroom was very warm and too warm for me. The old building and rooms have been modernised and double glazed so that it was actually quite uncomfortable. There was a fan to try and regulate the temperature but this was also ineffective and noisy. The hot water taps had warning signs which were helpful but the temperature was actually a health and safety hazard if you were careless. A great shame really as everything else was good.

Breakfast was very good. All staff were very accommodating and nice. Location was very convenient to train station.
Unfortunately the lift was out for 3 1/2 days of our 5 day stay.
The thermostat seemed to have a mind of its own.

The guest house was great. The location to town was brilliant - 10 minute walk to get to everything. The room was very clean and the tea tray was lovely. The breakfast was very filling and I would recommend this place for anyone visiting York.

The style, atmosphere, everything
The eggs. Not able to make eggs to my liking

Full of history & interesting quirks. The glass roofed eating area was lovely. The whole thing was the opposite of an anonymous hotel stay; the staff were really friendly & helpful. Breakfast was great & it was close to wonderful restaurants for evening meals.

We loved everything about our short stay. The history of the property was an interesting bonus! Our room was so so clean, the staff were all lovely. The home made granola at breakfast was scrumptious!
Absolutely nothing
