It was a beautiful place with traditional decorations! The people and the stagaire girls were amazing, always ready to help and accommodate you! The included breakfast was delicious every day and the lady making it was super sweet! Overall super clean and lovely hotel with great location in the Medina! I would definitely come back!
Nothing, maybe just the WiFi is not super great in all parts but it was fine!

Traditional Dar with lots of nice local, sophisticated decorations.
Windows in the room were small and I felt a bit confined

Le personnel accueillant et bienveillant
Le charme et la propreté du lieu
Ce n’est qu’un détail mais j’aurai aimé avoir la télévision et un meilleur réseau wifi.

This is an authentic Tunisian guest house with a beautiful internal courtyard and lovely rooftop terrace allowing for a skyline view of the city. It is located in the old medina with easy walking distance to Tunis's European quarters. The room was authentically decorated, comfortable and quiet. The staff surpassed our expectations. They were very polite and helpful. They arranged a pick-up ride for us from the airport to the guest house and offered to have our breakfast served earlier on the days we were taking a tour and departing. They provided helpful suggestions for restaurants, visiting the medina and transportation to other cities in Tunisia. The breakfast served in the courtyard was always delicious and plentiful. The rate is very fair and reasonable for quality of accommodations compared to other hotels. Thank you for a lovely and memorable stay!

This was by far one of my favourite stays. The hotel felt very authentic and is beautifully restored. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful and the breakfast something I looked forward to already the night before. If you are looking for somewhere special to stay and want to skip the usual soulless hotel chains, I can absolutely recommend Dar Ben Gacem.

Hands down THE best place I have ever stayed in. Dar Ben Gacem is a beautifully furnished, stunning historic house in the heart of the Medina, but what is even more important is the wonderful, friendly staff making you feel at home, organising activities and helping out with reservations (especially tricky during Ramadan!). Absolutely unforgettable experience!

The location was good near town centre where you can buy water and crisps at small tuck shop
I was fasting and asked for sahur to be made and skip the breakfast. The receptionist mentioned it will be ready at 4.30 am but when I came down no one was there. Nonetheless this is a beautiful and comfortable place to stay in Tunis. Will stay here again if I come to Tunis

I like that the charm of the establishment is natural and unforced. You always feel that Dar ben Gacem is your home.
It's an almost perfect experience.

Location in middle of medina was great if that's what you want. Surprisingly, I didn't hear any 5:30am call to prayer despite the mosque being very nearby. Staff was very helpful and always available. Breakfast was ample. Rooms were simple but adequate.
Doors and windows not at all sealed for noise or cold. You can hear people talking at normal level in adjacent rooms and from breakfast area. Rooms could be a bit cleaner (floors, cobwebs).

the historic space is stunning and thoughtfully restored
the location (medina) is not great at night and a bit hectic during the day.

Everything was perfect. Located in the medina, great spacious and comfortable room, great breakfast, pleasant staff, authentic riad well renovated, great restaurants nearby. It's easy to walk to the main city attractions, and if interested to go to Sisi Bou Said (very touristic and overpriced in my opinion but an amazing scenery), it's easy by train from Tunis Marine (fast and cheap). Carthage can be reached the same way.
The checkout when we had to argue about double charging for the laundry - we had a bit of trouble with he Visa machine as well. Be aware that many taxis will refuse to enter the medina - but the hotel is only a 10 min walk from its entry points - I recommend to organize a pick up if you have heavy luggage. Plenty of cheap taxis 10 min walk from the hotel.

Amazing staff- super friendly, helpful, and spoke great English. They arranged comfortable private taxis for me to do day trips. The guesthouse was beautiful, authentic, and peaceful- I especially liked the roof. Rooms were clean and comfortable with western bathrooms. Breakfast was lovely everyday. Location was fun because it was right in the medina, close to the market and city centre.
However, it can be hard to get to the guesthouse because it is right in the medina. There are many small streets that look the same, so it can be easy to get lost. Taxis do not go into the small medina streets. Also, it may be hard to go to and from the guesthouse if you have a lot of luggage because of the cobblestones and the taxis do not go in. But still worth it to stay in such a beautiful and historic area!!

A highly personal experience - Dali and Mohamed went above and beyond for the comfortability of guests. Excellent location in the heart of the Tunis Medina and the accommodation itself feels incredibly charming and historical. Modern renovated bathrooms and furnishings (fridge, etc) a plus. Decent wifi and plentiful breakfast.

Amazing romantic place from Aladdin’s 1001 nights :). House is 400 years old but very nicely renovated and decorated. it is located in Medina, very quiet area. However acoustic inside the house is not that good, which didnt bother us at all. Breakfast was delicious and good size. Guys working on the reception were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place. if I go back to Tunis I will stay here again.

-Super friendly, welcoming staff.
-Great, central location in the heart of old town (medina).
-Beautiful, authentic guest house from a bygone era, but with modern amenities, such as AC or comfortable bathrooms.
-Tasty breakfast
-Ceilings are quite low in some parts of the building and staircases narrow, especially for someone as tall as me (200 cm).
-WiFi was a bit spotty.
