Everything was fabulous! We enjoyed our stay very much indeed. Dinner and breakfast were tasty. Rooms were beautiful and clean. Free welcome drinks on arrival and free coffees to take away on departure. Lovely, friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful setting.

This place is amazing, so old and full of history and yet so beautiful. We had a lovely twin room for our girly trip and it was perfect for us. We were greeted on arrival with free, complimentary drinks at the bar. We had a delicious evening meal in a comfortable and relaxed dinning area. The staff couldn't have been nicer, they were so pleasant and so attentive it just made our stay even more special. It's a 10/10 for the customer care given by the wonderful staff. I took lots of photos of this fantastic building to show my partner how awesome it is and I can't wait to return with him for another stay.
There is nothing to not like in my opinion.

Fantastisk gammel bygning der alt var bevart. Følte at vi levde i luksus på 1600-tallet.
Intet.

Delightful historical building with many characterful & quirky features. The ‘Coach’ room was lovely.
The extensive menu was outstanding & great value for the money. The staff were welcoming & attentive without hovering.
Location. It’s a coaching inn so on a regularly used junction! So traffic noise is an issue. Saying that we were supplied with ear plugs & the room (which was the ‘Coach’ room right on the front of the property) had secondary double glazing.
They couldn’t have done much more!

Location was ok, breakfast was ok, no wholemeal toast or cereal ,waiting staff were pleasant enough
Room was ok ,very dark, had to prop the window open with a book ,the plastic plants , we ate there twice the award winning pie was a joke at £21 the rest standard pub food nothing special, service was slow, the manager/ waitress was very patronising calling guest darling all time very unprofessional

Beautifully appointed big bedroom with 4 poster bed. Lovely quirky features of such an ancient building. Fab breakfast.
We arrived late (but well before the stated last arrival time) and there was no one there. They did send someone v quickly.

Staff were friendly. Location was good.
The room was very olde world and my room was so dark and the ceilings so low the lights had too be left on all the time.

Absolutely beautiful property with amazing period features. Rooms were cosy, clean and tastefully decorated. Plenty of hot water for showers (although shower head would not stay in place) and tea and coffee facilities (but no milk) Squeaky sign outside but it added to the experience. :)
Unfortunately we had a very poor experience shortly after we arrived waiting to be served lunch in the bar area. We waited 40 mins before we complained by walking up to the bar to place our food and drink order, no one had come to take our order. We then waited another 40+ mins for our food to arrive…again after complaining about the wait. Once the food arrived it was burnt and dried up. After we complained (again) they were very apologetic and ended up removing the meal from our bill, which we did appreciate. Breakfast the next morning was a completely different experience it was excellent, great service and in pleasant surroundings.

Amazing property, full of history and great rooms and atmosphere. Subtly updated for comfort & cosy with great showers. Great staff Linda & Lola wonderful, friendly and attentive but not fussy. Fabulous choices for breakfast and great evening meals in beautiful dining room. Can’t wait to go again.
No complaints, just wish it wasn’t 5 hours drive from home !

The George Inn itself was really pretty and quirky and the surrounding area was beautiful. Just what I thought it would be. The location was perfect for our trip to longleat which was our main reason for picking this location.
Did not realize that there was nothing else in the village apart from a coop store, thought we may off been able to walk out and either get a coffee or drink but this was no so. When we book our room, we do not realise that the room was not in the main pub but across the busy road on a junction in a separate building.we were a little disappointed with this. Secondly the room had a very damp smell, which would explain why when my wife was shown the room, the door was held open to help air the room. Once the door was shut the smell got worse, even so that it woke me up in the night, and to top it all, you could not even open the windows. We arrived on Sunday have dinner and went out to explore the surrounding 6 we came back, we wanted a drink in the bar. The bar shuts at 9, which seems a little early,

Our stay at the George Inn was a highlight of my birthday weekend trip. We loved the history of the place and how they’ve maintained that charm instead of trying to modernise. The furniture and decor was all perfect. Beyond that, our room (Samuel Pepys room) was spotlessly clean. Living in an old house and having stayed in many historic hotels, I know keeping up with dust alone is a constant battle, so we were quite impressed. Additionally we were very pleased with the food at breakfast and dinner. Really good quality.
What really made the stay excellent however was the staff. They were all phenomenal - friendly, helpful, truly above and beyond. We will definitely be returning.

Lovely friendly staff, amazing buildings (faithfully restored in 1998), exciting to wonder at 700 years of history by experiencing it for yourself!

The accomodation, food and espeially the staff are second to none. The service from the team, Lola and Linda is exceptional and make you feel like family. Any stay here will be too short.

It was wonderful to spend time in such a beautiful place and the building has stayed true to the history of it. Very sensitively refurbished and not too modernised which would ruin the whole ambiance of the place. Blown away by so much history!
4.5
Lovely historical hotel , the most typically English of bucolic views from the beer garden ( cricket/church, etc ) Great staff, dinner top quality, and the breakfast is just outstanding...
No issues for us ,but its a very old building so might be tricky if one has mobility issues with uneven floors etc
4.5
Great room and breakfast. Little bit annoying that we got told about a refurbishment very late on which left us little time to find anywhere else if we’d have wanted. Overall we had a lovely stay and the service was great, very friendly.
Bathroom was super small and food choices were limited due to a refurb

The interesting history of the hotel, the amazing friendly staff, the location outside of Bath. Incredible.

What a wonderful hotel. Beautiful room, great restaurant and fabulous staff who really cared about us.
there was nothing to dislike

Evening meal was good
Character building and its history
Extensive breakfast choice
Limited parking due to the fact that the pub and restaurant are popular

Food was tasty and room was comfortable but the character of the building was what really made our stay.
4.5
A fantastic building with a very interesting history and many quirky and interesting features.
Also they served very good beer!
The staff were not very attentive, we had to ask for breakfast items, on both mornings, that were listed on the menu as available, juice, water, toast, pastries etc, which I feel should have been offered.
Also, when our room was serviced, coffee, tea and biscuits were not replaced. I'm not sure whether it is a lack of training or company policy to not offer until these items are requested.

We have stayed with you before and were not disappointed with any aspect of our stay. We stayed in the Coach this time and had dinner. Food was excellent, room was very comfy and the staff were very helpful. Will definitely be back!

Fantastic and historic hotel with loads of character. Room to match.
Breakfast was excellent, dinner very good but!
Staff excellent and very friendly, especially the lady from Italy.
Just one small complaint really and that was the vegetarian option on one night when they ran out of options except the curry which is not my partner's usual choice.
