Location great for us travelling onwards. Good to be in a rural setting. Great views. Our room was large and clean. Very quiet too. Huge bed and big bathroom.
The only slight gripe was the shower temperature which was impossible to get to warm. Very sensitive so it was either very hot or too cold. Everything else was great.

Nice quiet room. Lovely food and good beer
Bathroom a little rough around the edges

Breakfast was amazing as infact was the evening meal, all freshly cooked and ample portion.
Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
Room was very comfortable with great views, and house keeping on a daily basis.
Would definitely stay here again.

The staff were very helpful making us feel like guests with little actions that meant a lot to us - excellent breakfast and a great stop over when travelling from North Wales to Sheffield

The staff were lovely and welcoming. The dining area and the bar were great. Added to this were delicious beer, real fire and organ music. Lovely location too. Underfloor heating in bathroom welcome.
Bed was quite uncomfortable with some boinging springs and walls between rooms not very sound proof.

The place had a great atmosphere and food was excellent. The staff were friendly and clearly service is important to them.
A very small point but it wasn't clear that the key was simply to be left on the bar counter at check out.

Beautiful scenic views.
Exceptional staff service- very friendly.

The staff were very friendly, the bedroom was really good and clean. The bed was comfy, the room well heated. The views from the back were lovely. The food was good and reasonably priced. The bar area was pleasant. All in all, a really nice place and worth a visit.
The only let down was we wanted to eat food in the bar area as the fire was lit and it was a good ambience. We were told all the tables (about 4 empty) were reserved for locals so we had to eat in the restaurant. The bar tables were not used at any point during the evening. Not a deal breaker but disappointing.

Location was great, really easy to find and to get to and from places - would definitely come back here! For the price paid, I woul definitely recommend. Breakfast was lovely but could do with more options?
Didn't have breakfast on checkout (even though was paid for), the TV in room 8 is small (could be upgraded), facilities were good other than that.
4.5
warm and friendly - had a feeling about being in the wilderness which is what we wanted
menu was limited. we stayed for 2 nights and struggled to find something we liked. needs to be more varied and extensive

Lovely warm atmosphere.
Great family get together.
The food was just OK but it was a large party to cater for . Good value for money though so not too disappointed.

warm welcome, friendly staff, big room, lovely log burner, nice breakfast
Mattress very lumpy & uncomfortable. Room too hot but heating control was locked. Could not reach top of small porthole window to open. Poor sleep. Shower ok but difficult to control temperature & takes a very long time to get warm. Very expensive restaurant & very average. Beer was off/pipes need cleaning. 2 different pints tasted of vinegar. One lady trying to do everything.

Lovely location, lovely staff, clean comfy and accommodating as always
Sunday dinner not good value for money, very basic compared to their usual meals which are usually always great. Beef was almost like packet beef and mash seemed like smash so quite disappointing compared to the usual standards. Also one night the landlord was drunk and being generally rude, this has happened before, doesn't really bother me too much but other guests may not be as thick skinned as myself!
4.5
As you will see everything was brilliant, everything was spotlessly clean the bed was comfy and the food (evening meal and breakfast) was lovely
Nothing, everything was excellent
The only complaint was that the fan in the bathroom was noisy, needs attention.

The staff and the location were very good.
The head chef went out of her way to cater for our needs. Very caring and conscientious staff.
1. It is difficult to locate using Satnav or GPS. It might be easier if the property mentioned directions from a bear by recognisable spot on the GPS. However, when the GPS took us to the post code, the hotel staff were very helpful in guiding us to the hotel.
2. In the room where we stayed in, it looked as though the shower was put as an after thought to the existing bath tub. As a result, as one used the hand shower, up and down keeping the shower head in front , the water went like a see saw from cold to hot to very hot to cold depending upon which way the water hose connected to the telephone shower handle turned the tap.
It was both amusing and frustrating.
This is not a complaint . It is an amusing observation for the property to look into
3. The hotel and pub seem to be very popular as the bar and the restaurant had lots of guests. I only wish that the hotel could be more aware of the needs of travellers from other parts of the world. We could not get a simple chilly sauce or chilli flakes to add on to our food.

Road noise ,very busy ,but not at night rooms on the other side very quiet 😴

Loved the smell of "clean" when we first walked in and it went on throughout the hotel.
Lady behind the bar and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful and were with everyone throughout our stay.
Bed was very comfy and water nice and hot.
Always wary when places accept dogs to stay that there's going to be dog smell and hairs etc but cleaners are doing a fantastic job.
Bathroom could do with more ventilation!

Lovely room, very clean and with nice views of the moorland. Pub welcoming and nice to have the option of eating 'in' on my first evening. Breakfast lovely and I was well attended to by the polite young man serving breakfasts.
It was a little cold in my room in the early evening - but the manager did kindly supply an electric heater to take the chill off.

Loved the location, food and beer was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again 🙂
Nothing to complain about 😉
