In a quiet location. Very convenient for the wedding venue. Very helpful young woman on reception and bar.
Very tired inside and out a good refurbishment needed. Breakfast was a bit meagre and young man on duty not very helpful or willing to help us. Friends joined us for breakfast and paid a huge amount for a small meal.

The breakfast was one of the best ever and we loved the building and everything was immaculately clean.
A great use of space, but the room was small.

Ambiance, personnel accueillant,
Il faisait très froid dans les pièces et restaurant c’est dommage

Very nice hotel, nice quiet location

The room was excellent a very good price.

The staff were absolutely lovely, very kind and went above and beyond our expectations, leaving Swan shaped, love heart towels and rose petals on the bed for our wedding night.
We were also so tired that we missed breakfast the next morning and the lovely lady working went out of her way to sort something for us, including a lovely strong cup or coffee!

Breakfast was huge!
Room a bit small

Overall, the food was absolutely excellent, lunch, dinner and breakfast. Fresh, well presented, generous portions and super tasty.
Nothing really, if anything our room was a little small but perfectly comfortable.

Excellent location and friendly staff
Poor WiFi
4.1
Comfortable if a little quirky. Had a good atmosphere. Staff welcoming and felt homely. Bed was comfortable. Lunch was lovely.
It’s a very old building / garden and could do with some updating. Our bedroom smelt of paint like it had been given a coat just before we arrived. Had a number of events on during our stay, so we needed to use the back door to our room and ramp to door is a bit precarious. Parking can be limited if an event is on.
4.1
very quaint, all rooms different
a bit tired and dated and in need of some tlc, shower pressure was also v poor

Breakfast menu was varied. Something for everyone.Location ideally close to village amenities.
Nothing to speak of

The staff were welcoming and attentive. Nothing too much trouble despite having other activities going on at the hotel when I was there. Excellent choice on the menu for evening meal. Breakfast was a welcome sight with full menu. I loved the home baked bread and yeasty cakes. My room was very comfortable , place to work on computer. I appreciated the towelling wrap to relax in ! Thank you.
I asked for a ground floor room and walk-in shower as I have difficulty in walking. Booking.com did not explain that there are no rooms on the ground floor. They did offer a more expensive room that has a separate shower which I declined as there is no lift and I understood it was upstairs. There is a step in the bathroom where I would like to have had a handrail to steady myself . Perhaps there is a way to offer a room for someone with poor mobility/ or a lift for wheelchair user?

Food was excellent

Likes that it was close to my place of work
The water would not go down the shower hole so whilst having a shower I felt as though I would flood the bathroom. I was standing in dirty water while having the shower. On leaving, I informed the hotel - they didn't seem overly bothered "I will tell maintenance". No apology.
At breakfast there was one person serving, taking orders, manning reception. Toast came but I had to leave before the beans came!!!

The room was wonderful
No buffet breakfast

Room was a good size and tastefully decorated and arranged. Evening meal was very nice. Breakfast was absolutely lovely.
Bath and shower weren't conducive to someone over 6 foot being comfortable in them.

Dinner.
The hotel is an attractive building in a beautiful location, nearby lots of places of interest in the
South Downs National Park.
The hotel and rooms looked very tired and in need of a complete update.
It looked as though some areas had been redecorated but painted very badly.
Short of staff at breakfast.
Buffet breakfast disappointing.
Cafetiere pot for one person was very small. Just enough for one small cup
therefore prompting the need to keep asking for more coffee.
4.1
Warm and welcoming with everything delivered to a high standard. A truly relaxing experience.

Breakfast was amazing, very tasty and perfect eggs. We had dinner one night as well which again was lovely. Overall very impressed with the food. The dog got a great big sausage for breakfast as well.
I know with dogs we often find we get rooms that are primarily for dog guests, which we understand, yet the room felt it needed a bit of TLC and the water pressure was very low. Yet it was clean, nice looking and right onto the gardens which was a great help.

Friendly and helpful staff; notably lady on reception. Room was clean. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional.
Chilly downstairs. Particularly entrance hall/sitting room where a fire would have been nice and welcoming but it was warm in bedroom.
4.1
Food was exceptional, staff were friendly and very helpful. We needed the electrical charge point so they coned off a parking spot for us.
I know it's an issue due to rising costs but i needed a shower in the middle of the day and the water was cold and the heating was off.

Good size room, thoughtful touches, very clean, comfy bed, lots of plug sockets.
On arrival waited a long time before a staff member came to check me in. Room was cold: I turned the radiators on but they never got warm let alone hot. But the worst thing was that there was no hot water available in the morning. No point having a room with a nice slipper bath if there's no hot water for it!
4.1
very friendly staff, nicely decorated room nice breakfast
shower was awful. old fashioned with no power…it was a dribble. bathroom very basic
4.1
Excellent- especially the scrambled eggs
Nothing

the swans on the bed and the rose pettles very nice touch.
plus it was very quite.
dust build up my Mrs almost passed out, it was not easy getting into the property! Tap head fell off, sink plug took forever to drain. shower head full of limescale so the flow of water was shocking. outside door did not lock properly! didn’t feel 100% safe. also maybe better outlining of hazards as my Mrs nearly broke her ankle down the step hidden behind a great big door.
the ramp (disabled access’s) was not safe. lifts when weight is shifted. Just not great value for money unfortunately as could have been a nice getaway.
also wasn’t keen on the two single bed pushed together! as my Mrs nearly fell through the gap, wasn’t ideal for the price paid.

The hotel was welcoming, clean and warm
CAR park was relatively small. On one of occasion we arrived back to find the car park full. The road at the front of the hotel is very narrow.

comfortable and tidy.
Nothing to dislike.
4.1
The dinner was excellent, breakfast less so. The room was spacious, and the bed comfortable. recommend it to anyone.
The decor was very tired and quite shabby. The window in the main bedroom would not stay open. The radiator in the bedroom was leaking and from the stain on the carpet had been so for some time. The bathroom had a very high step to get from one part to the other, where the toilet and bath were and my wife found stepping down very difficult. The bath had a shower facility with a folding shower screen. There was no seal between the seal panels or at the bottom which resulted in the floor becoming flooded after showering. The water temperature whilst using the showerfluctuated everytime someone else was using water, leading to either cold water or very hot water during your shower. The toilet, after 1 day's use became blocked. Our party had three rooms and in one of the rooms four lights in the room did not work. The stay was fullty paid up before our arrival, however upon checkout, one of our party was presented with a bill for £195, and it took a bit of sorting out to convince the staff that there was nothing to pay. The cost of a double room was £128 for a single night and the other two rooms were £97 each, which to be honest was a rip off when all of the above was considered. I would not stay here again and most definitely not.
