Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Made to feel very welcome. We liked the ambiance of the building very much ( this building was originally a consulate). It was nice to be able to sit in a green space in the middle of a busy city ( lovely garden). Breakfast very nice. Great location. Would recommend staying here.
Liked everything.

Gorgeous rooms. Beautiful space for free breakfast

Beautiful very large rooms, excellent hot shower. Exceptionally clean and a massive bed. A superb breakfast was offered (and accepted). All the staff were very friendly, courteous and were a wealth of knowledge on what to see and do around La Paz

Overall, great hotel. The staff was exceptional and super helpful. Location is also pretty central. Rooms were large and spacious. Good value for money
The hotel is a bit old - and the furniture can be a bit creaky. But definitely great experience overall.
5.0
Big rooms, good hot shower and large en suite, friendly staff, good breakfast conservatory area leading onto a private garden. Breakfast wasn't bad for south america standards!
The biggest reason for the lower score is the payment. Price is quoted in dollars but if you don't have cash dollars the conversion rate they charge is 9 bolivianos to 1 usd which is essentially making you pay 20% more than advertised (actual rate is around 7 bolivianos to 1usd). If you pay with card, expect another 5% on top of that. They also can't accept dollar payment in card. We didn't have this issue anywhere else in Bolivia with the exchange rate.
The second biggest issue was the noise. It's next to some sort of school, which often had drumming sessions until late in the evening and got busy early in the morning. Luckily, it wasn't too much of an issue for us as we had ear plugs. Maybe the rooms to the back are less of an issue.

The friendly, helpful staff, comfort, location and overall value for money makes this hotel exceptional. For anyone looking to stay in central La Paz and enjoy genuine Bolivian hospitality I doubt this hotel can be beaten.

Hotel is in a beautiful building that was previously the Panamanian consulate. The rooms are huge! Both the rooms and bathrooms are very clean and there is hot water 24 hours. The family that runs the hotel are very nice. Location wise you are right in the centre of La Paz.

Great location in a historic building which was once the Panama Consulate. The room was beautiful as shown In their photos (mine had an elegant antique bathtub). High ceilings with lots of natural light. All staff were helpful and kind, including Juan Carlos, Lis, and Adrian. Thank you!

Juan Carlos excellent in arranging your touring requirements around La Paz and surrounds

The staff was very helpfull, and some also spoke very good english. We got to borrow a Teleferico card, and told which of these routes we should take for seeing the City from above.
The breakfast is good. Where you get some eggs, bread, yoghurt, several different fruits, fresh orange juice, and coffee and tea (not buffé).
The bathroom is not well maintained, with several broken tiles on the floor, and a shower head that is placed so high that it is impossible to shower with the low water pressure. But the shower head is luckely detachable, so you can hold it while showering.
Very cold floor, and rooms where not comfortable warm until the fourth and last day we stayed. One of the days we arrived back late, and the window where wide open, and the heater turned off, which did not help.
Not a comfortable bed, or pillows!

Great location, warm at night with heater. Close to light blue cable car line. The staff were really helpful.
Breakfast was good, although after 4 days I was hoping for a change to the same scrambled eggs, ham and cheese with fruit, yoghurt and bread. Sausages, chorizo, beans sometimes maybe?

Location was nice, safe, and close enough to walk. Great, older, well maintained hotel with huge rooms, high ceilings, great staff. Juan Carolos went above and beyond to help us with seeing La Paz and traveling on-ward. We stayed during 2 trips to La Pas.
Nothing.

The building and the furniture were amazing! Receptionist was so kind to tell me the story of previous owners and of the name of this hotel. And their dining room is a glazed verabda in the yard - such a lovely place.
I cannot remeber any bad things. Maybe only one was a little bit uncomfortable and not good for ecology. Before taking a hot shower, you have to drain the water for a few minutes while it warms up.

Excellent place to stay in La Paz. Location is in city center, 3' walk to plenty of places to eat and have a drink with locals, in a secondary street very quiet to have a good rest at night. Rooms are big, clean and cozy. Breakfast is very good with fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, bread, butter, etc. Juan Carlos is very kind and extremely helpful with everything you may need. He runs a local travel agency (Pukina Travel) which can help you organize tours in La Paz, Uyuni Salt Flats, etc. Definitively we recommend this hotel.
Nothing. Experience was unbeatable.

Breakfast was quite good.

Huge room with high ceilings. Juan Carlos offered exceptional assistance. Location walking distance from several attractions (although beware the altitude effects!).
Lovely breakfast in conservatory room.
Need to invest in some larger sheets to fit beds better.
9.0
The room is spacious and good value for money.
Nice breakfast area.
There weren't any plug sockets near the bed.
Getting in or out the main door early morning or at night is a bit of a wait, as they close the main door.

The location was really good, off he main road so there was not too much noise (although it's La Paz so there is always some noise) but it was a good base to be able to get to other locations around the city. The building and the rooms are very airy.
We stayed in 2 different rooms during our time there - a twin and a double - and both were light and airy, they felt like there was a lot of room. The shower was really good in both.
A good amount of breakfast is served.
They were able to do our laundry within the day.
Twin room - there was no lamp in the room, only the main light of the room. I would recommend to add lamps in all rooms.
Towel hooks - there were no hooks to hang towels in either of the rooms we stayed which was a bit frustrating because our towels sometimes did not dry properly
The rooms were not cleaned after the first night on both of the occasions we stayed. Don't know whether this is just their standard policy.
The breakfast could be changed, it is the same breakfast each day and no option other than to omit items. There was no option to take any breakfast away e.g. if you have an early start to go on a trip.

good location, clean, good breakfast, large rooms, staff answered all of queries
bit shabby, could be charming if better looked after, bathrooms could use an upgrade

Classical design, both architecture and decorations, Transformed from an old embassy. Superb!

The hotel staff were incredibly kind. The breakfast was very nice. The hotel and rooms were very clean and fresh. The hotel is well located and is unique being a former diplomatic mission.
Not the fault of the hotel, but we were there during the halloween period and close to the hotel was a 'haunted house' attraction. It was rather noisy.

Location and beautiful building
A little in need a refurbishment

The hotel was gorgeous! The rooms were very large with antique furnishings and the shower was excellent -- hot and with good water pressure. The beds were very comfortable with extra blankets provided as well as room heaters. The breakfast, served in a solarium, was also very good. And the location couldn't be beat. It was on a fairly quiet street (except for noise of students attending nearby schools) but right adjacent to the main thoroughfare (16 Julio) in the heart of La Paz. They also had a little lounge area on the 2nd floor with books, and tea/water.
No negative comments.

Amazing hosts. Big rooms. Relatively quiet.

The hotel has the old world charm. The rooms were clean but not everything was perfect. It is just as you would expect for a heritage experience.
The manager Juan Carlos did a magnificent job. No request was too difficult, he went out of his way to make your stay enjoyable. He also organised our tours with ease.
All the staff were eager to make our stay enjoyable.
The towels were thin and should probably be replaced.

Everyone was kind and helpful. Breakfast was perfect and the garden space was a treat. Juan Carlos gave excellent advice. The place is understated and so beautiful.
