Stunning location. Great and friendly staff.

friendly staff and amazing location

Very nice room, good bed (160 wide) and en-suit bathroom with well-working shower. Overall quiet despite the bar of the Inn obviously being very popular with locals and holiday makers from the nearby campsite. Good kitchen and professional, friendly staff. They had a diffuser hidden somewhere in our room that released a pleasant smell into the room. The location is beautiful and the historic building is nice!
Carpet was alright, but looked a little scruffy. Hardly an issue when you are on a walking holiday yourself with boots that could potentially make things worse.

Almost everything except below
Dinner - pie far too big and expensive. Would much rather have had smaller and less expensive.
Room too warm.

All the food is amazing. Breakfast and evening meals.
It’s the second time I’ve stayed. Last time my room was at the back, with amazing views and very quiet. This time my room was at the front opposite the beer garden. It was very noisy up to 10.45, especially as I was tired from a long day walking.

nice room and location
barman excellent.
off hand reception on arrival.
evening meal very poor and very expensive. waitress asked how meal was but took no action when told that it was poor and I had only eaten half of it.

Location couldn’t be better - great starting point for lots of walks. Food is great. Staff are super friendly. Shower was great.
The overnight rate felt high. It is likely due to high demand post Covid, but still.
4.6
location, cleanliness, staff were very friendly
food far too expensive £19 upwards for a main course .

The room is spacious and cozy. Bed is very comfy
The water pressure for the 3rd floor seems unstable, not strong enough for showering

Great location, lovely staff good value for money. Plenty of walking from the front door no need to use your can once parked up!!
Nothing really

Lovely cosy country inn. Very friendly staff, great little bar area and a residents lounge. Food was excellent throughout our stay, varied menu something for everyone. Rooms very modern and comfortable, lashings of hot water. Hotel very quiet at night so a goods night sleep was had. Fantastic location. Really, really nice place, would highly recommend.
Nothing!!

Fabulous setting, fabulous beer, fabulous food. Great break on the coast to coast

Beautiful location, modernized but the character preserved. Beautiful room. Amazingly industrious, pleasant and helpful little lady working the evening of our arrival, a gem. Fantastic food.
The thump thump thump of mind numbing music from the kitchen. The kitchen staff should be aware that guests can hear them if they step outside, for a fag?
having to leave!

An excellent authentic rural country house hotel in the heart of one of the most beautiful areas of the Lake District.
The bedroom was OK, but not as good as the one we had on a previous stay; size, bath and shower as opposed to shower only and rear-aspect mountain views. The bar was set very high and this resulted in a slight disappointment to my wife and I.

Breakfast was great and location to the trails was fantastic!
Dinner was a bit bland and over priced.

As we travelled up a small lane , I wasn’t sure what to expect , and then we came upon a lovely little hamlet and the inn . Situation perfect , views from the dining room lovely . Bedroom quite basic but adaquate and clean . The staff were lovely and helpful.
The menu and food was good , but quite expensive . We slept at the front over looking the beer garden which was noisy , at night . It didn’t bother us as it’s nice to hear laughter , but if you have trouble sleeping perhaps ask for a room at the back .

Perfect in every way. Quiet, cozy, very comfy bed.
The food could be less 'gastro pub'

i liked its location and the food was amazing
comfortable bed with a really good sized washroom
i found the property not well ventilated which resulted in it being very warm
Also no cold water to draw from and no ice

All round an excellent place to stay for walking in the Lakes.
This is a pretty remote location so understandably, if you want wifi access, it only really works in the ground floor - not in the bedrooms. Similarly, even if you only want to listen to the radio, there doesn't seem to be much of a signal even for that. Top tip is take a book and download videos to a device!

location and facilities
expensive and inflexible with breakfast timing despite heatwave
4.6
Location was great as we were there to hike Sacffle Pike, and not too far (about 15mins drive) from the nearest town which was Keswick. It is a little bit secluded away from any shops/eateries so you'll have to have a car or use the bus which was quite frequent. The hotel also has a pub which had a great atmosphere
The rooms didn't get tidied up every morning as you'd expect from other hotels, but this could be unreasonable expectations from people who are used to this.

Fantastic location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms were comfortable and the whole place was better than we expected for an 'Inn' in the middle of nowhere. The restaurant menu always offered at least two vegan options and we were offered vegan packed lunches (although you have to check the ingredients)
Wi-Fi was unusable. The water in our room cut off a couple of times (we were told too many people were using it all at once). We told the hotel in advance that we required Vegan breakfasts. This was accommodated but only combining elements of different breakfast options on the day. No plant-based milk, butter or yoghurt alternatives were offered so we couldn't have the cereals.
