Food excellent

Staff very friendly, food excellent, locals very friendly, for the most part. There has to be one though. Location was good for access albeit narrow lanes. The room was comfortable and I slept very well. There is however a cockerel that requires termination. We had the family room which worked OK. If you take this place in context as a pub rather than a full blown hotel, you wont be disappointed.
Parking abysmal. Lane to the rear of the property very narrow and bushes trailing alongside the car. Frontal parking is very limited and our car hung out into the road. Received malicious damage to the car whilst parked there. This is not the fault of the landlord or staff, but it happened all the same and needs to be said. Returned at 2000 hrs one evening and no parking space available. Lane very narrow and even that was full.

Nice, clean and comfortable place. Also, the food was excellent and great value for money. We all enjoyed our stay. Excellent breakfast in the morning.
Knowing that the owner lives right opposite your room but it's not really a big deal as they haven't made any noise or caused any problem. Also, the kettle was broken.

We regret that we were unable to take advantage of the excellent dinner menu as we had already eaten at a wedding reception!

Great country pub. Good beer and good food. Nice room. Friendly staff.
Breakfast was not served until 08:30. But they did provide in a coolbox some cereal and juice so I could have that before I set off early.

Really friendly staff. Food was very good - both breakfast and evening meals. Nice garden.
Bathroom in our room was very small - sit on the loo, wash hands in the sink and feet in the shower at the same time! That said the shower was a good size. The wardrobe door in the bedroom opened the wrong way which made using it difficult.

From the outside, the pub looks a bit tired, but on entering, it has a lovely village pub atmosphere, great service and food, and the rooms were big, bright and clean. Would recommend.
Only that the bathroom needed a freshen up. Was a little limescaled and the shower itself looks like it was on its last legs.

All previous comments are true. The staff were really friendly the locals also made us feel welcome. lovely food Roy was a wonderful host. Ed could not be more attentive. Would love to go back next year but its seems already booked. I think that speaks for itself.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, lovely atmosphere in the pub, clean and quiet room, lovely rural location, superb food and staff who went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one.

We needed a weekend break from life's pressures and found this lovely old village pub very welcoming and friendly. - we began to relax as soon as we arrived. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent traditional home-cooked meals by Will their superb chef. Lovely countryside all around and not far from the towns of Dorchester and Blandford. We plan to return for a Sunday lunch!
