Helpful and friendly staff as we were having some challenges booking...
Mattress very hard and would have preferred one softer pillow!

Nothing
Checking in at reception took forever !!!
The room :Very small you could hardly move around the bed and walls.
The room was indeed of a makeover.
The net curtains had rips in the bathroom .there were hairs in the bath from the previous tenant ,

It’s location
We stay in room 10, it was awful. The shower was pitiful and incredibly noisy. One of the drawers for the dresser had part of the base missing which we found in the drawer by the bed??? The safe door opened at head height from inside the wardrobe nearly had an accident. For an executive room it was dark with no natural light.

Location is very good. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are clean.
Staff are unattentive. Hotel is run down and decor and rooms are aged.

On our 2 day stay in London we didn't actually get to stay in the Clarendon Hotel that I booked.
This experience highlights the problem of taking the booking without payment option offered on Booking.com. The hotel can let your room to another customer and when you turn up and find out you have no where to stay you have no options. The hotel cannot reassign a cheaper room because the "system" won't allow it. Rebooking another hotel so late is impractical and maybe impossible. Although the staff did relocate us in a substandard sister hotel I didn't appreciate the first attempt to fob us of with an unsubstantiated excuse about unexpected maintenance.

We stayed here for 6 easy nights.
Our room was big and had two big windows which were great to let in a breeze.
The bed was comfy and the bathroom a good size.
The location was perfect for us, we walked everywhere we wanted to go. And there is a hop on hop off bus stop very close by.
The doors to the rooms are very loud when closing. Which was fine until we had neighbours who decided to go in and out of their rooms about 10 times at 11pm. We told the staff in the morning and the neighbours were much quieter the next 2 nights.

The location is reasonably good.
It wasn’t 100% clean. Used plaster last on the floor and a dirty pillowcase left on side table. The rooms were very hot even though it wasn’t anything more than warm outside. Windows had to be left wide open all night. A fan was provided. No bottled water available.

A little dated

the location
The room and hotel are dilapidated and need serious investment. Way too expensive for what you get

Did not have food. Very clean and comfortable room and an excellent location.
The shower was difficult to access because of the height of the bath plus screen frame.

very good location. friendly staff. can tell it was a very excellent hotel.
a bit old. the facility is a bit old though they are good.

Location
The interior was very outdated and poorly maintained (old carpets, chipped wood panelling, dirty walls). The rooms were very hot and no real cooling options but for a small fan. The top floor smelt of poor toilet drainage.

Very good position, near to British Museum, metro stations, Covent Garden. Very safe impression during night hours, comping back walking toward the hotel.
7.0
Location is perfect, almost round the corner from the British Museum but on a quiet street with little traffic and few passersby. Plenty of shops and restaurants less than 5 min walk away. Three underground stations within very easy reach (from 2 to 6 min walk).
The price (225 GBP per night for 1 person without breakfast) is far too expensive for a hotel that is austere and in dire need of refurbishment. Admittedly the prices for accommodation in central London have gone through the roof, so this point applies to any other similar hotel.

Very good location, surprisingly big room, clean bathroom
The room was underground! I get it's a bit of a British thing to have a 'lower ground floor', but the stay felt like a cellar / prison cell experience. Also, dirty dirty carpet in the room, with no provided slippers - ew!
9.0
Everything worked as can be expected. No noisy air condition but decent openable window. Bath. Well functioning hot water. Good central location.
No plug in the bath, I guess they prefer the guests to just use it for showering.
