We loved our stay at this hotel and really enjoyed exploring the area.
It was a beautiful location and the staff were so helpful. I also loved the history of the property.
The showers - it was very hard to turn them on and off and an over bath shower is not safe for older people.

We enjoyed ourselves but the hotel needs something to improve it in a number of areas.
It's a big imposing hotel with impressive public spaces. It was a pleasure to have a drink on the terrace overlooking the gardens and to walk around them. Pleasant meal in the main restaurant on our first night - delicious sorbet - but a better meal in the club house before we left
We stayed when covid cases were high and there was very evidently pressure on the restaurant staff. They did their best - especially the restaurant manager - but clearly they had to use inexperienced staff and there were delays and mistakes. For the most part this didn't affect our stay but little things could have been improved despite the situation. For example when the pastry chef was off ill surely someone could have bought a packet of biscuits to serve with tea in the lounge? Our room service meal was shockingly poor - Covid was absolutely no excuse for not being able to make an adequate ham sandwich and serve up hot fries. It's a very long way to some of the bedrooms up and down tiny staircases when you are carrying heavy luggage. The room decor was decidedly tired. On checking out staff were courteous but not particularly friendly - perhaps a bit stressed. The bill came in a ridiculous format that was difficult to decipher.

Beautiful manor style hotel in a gorgeous setting
Delightful building and location. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Its not cheap but a very lovely location.
My only comment would be on the slightly old fashioned process for breakfast with a rather ordinary cereals section and then a buffet set up for cooked food. It felt as if you weren't trusted to help yourself and a member of staff would put on your plate what you wanted. Might be worth a revisit for management as i think the whole arrangement for breakfast could be considerably improved with a bit of thought.

A relaxing weekend in beautiful surroundings
The lovely grounds; truly stunning
The restaurant was very expensive; the food was good but the menu was a little dated and uninspiring.
