Location and friendliness
No shaver point in the room and very slight smell of damp
4.0
Tolle Lage, Badezimmer schön warm durch den beheizten Handtuchhalter, gutes Continental Breakfast.
3.5
Nicely situated in the old city very close to all amenities
The Access stairs to the hotel was very cramped with a handrail which swapped sides on both stairways up to the upper floor, very enclosed and with bends near to the top difficult to use when using a walking stick
3.5
Very central, 5 min walk from the cathedral.
The Pilgrim hotel is an old one amd you can see it….it is ok for a short stay

Exceeded my expectations for our weekend. Fantastic central location, clean and good sized room, lovely staff, continental breakfast only but nice selection.
More of a warning than dislike..although noise from outside was minimal the building is old and you can hear indoor movement. Take ear plugs if a lite sleeper.

location.
staff, no water pressure. complained but staff didn’t seem to care. was told to call back after visit and speak to a manager. I didn’t this the manager said he would sort out a part refund but never heard back from him.

As a gay couple we were thrilled to randomly find ourselves staying in the Oscar Wilde room.
But in all seriousness the hotel overall was pretty decent. We had a Superior Room which had plenty of space, the breakfast options were simultaneously fantastic and.. not.. I can't explain that one... And the chap holding fort on the reception desk was friendly, professional and very welcoming. There was limited noise from outside and it generally felt relatively cosy. Rooms were kept clean every day and bonus points to the cleaning/housekeeping crew who had to put up with the mess my partner makes.
In terms of location this was more than ideal. The general architecture nearby was brilliant, and in terms of walking distance we were only a few minutes from the centre of town in one direction and the train station in the other.
Anyone with more severe mobility impairments might want to rethink this one. The hotel area of the building has one step to access and the stairs up to the rooms were narrow with rail on only one side.
Amenities inside the room were welcome but also worn, for lack of a better word - we had a small single wardrobe which did the job but the door didn't shut properly, and a nice but stained chair. Small inconveniences which we can all forgive, but were nonetheless noticeable which just made it feel a touch 'meh.'
Breakfast was a peculiar affair but there wasn't any particularly accountable reason - as an example offers of toast were made after we'd pretty much eaten subtitutes due to the lack of it, there were pastries and things which were unlabelled (vegetarians/vegans watch out) and for a continental breakfast the meats and cheeses offered were not of much variety.

Beautiful old building with quirky features
Every room is different and gives a real sense of history
I would have liked a proper cooked breakfast but the continental breakfast was pretty nice too

La posizione, la colazione a buffet, la struttura storica, lo staff... fantastica!
Era perfetta così ma, per i più pretenziosi, essendo una struttura storica, è da tenere conto che gli spazi ed i servizi possono non essere apprezzati

Breakfast was continental and I like a cooked breakfast but I’m now converted to continental excellent Breakfast.
Leaving…!!!

Great in every way. I'd recommend this for anyone coming to Canterbury. The only slight negative might be if you don't like stairs, but a staff member kindly carried my bag up for me. The breakfast was impressive.

Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast
Steep narrow stairways, noise from scooters until late, mattress was not comfortable, neighbours were very noisy

Room was very clean, cosy, warm and sunny. Bathroom spotless and very convenient. Breakfast was lavish and food was freshly prepared. Location is perfect - short distance to all main attractions in Canterbury and short distance to have a walk in the fields...

I had Covid so didn't get to go, although the friend I had booked with did. She enjoyed her stay. The bed was comfy, the staff pleasant, and the breakfast good.
The bathroom was a little on the small side.

The breakfast was continental but had a very extensive range and the staff were very helpful.
