Great house, location and stay.

Beautiful house and location with amazing views over Funchal. The owner was very helpful and gave us lots of tips on what to see, where to eat and even a hire car company which we used and which was also excellent. She responded immediately to any queries that we had.

One week in March

Straight after booking I got tons of useful tips from Sandra. The communication with her was very nice and easy. The keys to the house were handed over by her dad who is very nice too. We were treated with some home-grown bananas, water and Brisa ;-) The house is very comfortable and excelently met our needs in terms of space and convenience. Fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms and excellent wi-fi, there was nothing more to wish for. There is a bus stop just next to it (Boa Vista restaurant) so it was easy to travel around without a car too. With all my heart I would like to highly reccommed Villa Reis Sao Goncalo to anyone.

Exceptional

The most impressive thing was the view! Other than that the house is spacious with 4 rooms and 2 bathrooms and it has a lovely terrace. It is close to the centre, less than 10 min by car but the bus stop is also close. We didn't get to meet Sandra but she was constantly available for any questions, she gave us excellent restaurant recommendations in advance and all information needed about Madeira before we even arrived. If we return to Madeira there is no other option for us but to return to this villa :)

Nice place, kind host, good location, fair price. I would recommend.

The view and the communication with the host.

Some equipment was missing, for example a mop and bucket. But this is just a small thing.

A great decision

The house was so spacious and so so clean. 3 spacious double rooms and a single room. We wanted for nothing in the kitchen. We really enjoyed the access from the bedrooms onto the balcony and the view being so spectacular it was a real joy to sit there late in the evening. At first we thought it was a bit out of town but we soon got used to the bus timetable and the view from where we stayed was well worth it. If needed there is a garage with the property. The owner was available for advice about places and even sent a family member to collect us 3 Ladies from the Airport and take us to the house. There is 2 restaurants within walking distance. We will certainly be back there again. Felt very much at home and safe there.

Lovely location. Owner, Sandra very helpful with lots of recommendations

Great location. Fabulous views. Extremely clean. Plenty of outside areas to follow the sun if you have the nice weather. Easy access to bus service and a great restaurant a minutes walk away

Busy noisy road and noisy birds for neighbours :)

Stayed like locals, were welcomed like family

The hosts were amazing. Very helpful, friendly, and responsive. We had a problem with the window one day, they came next morning to solve it. They shared so much information on where to go, what to do, and where to eat out. The house was clean and spacious. We enjoyed our breakfasts at the terrace on the ground floor and our evening drinks at the balcony at the first floor with both - the sea view and the city view. The secured parking garage just beneath the house was extremely helpful. As we were going everywhere by car we did not mind staying a bit away from the centre of Funchal that we could see from the villa. We really appreciated the view!

It would be even nicer to have two showers. It would make it easier and faster for our group of four to get ready in the morning. The two bedrooms facing the sea were a bit noisy because of the vehicles passing by and climbing the hill (the road is just below the balcony). It was a good idea to bring my earplugs with me.

The property is clean. The facilities are good. The view for sunset is great.

Amazing !

The hosts were excellent , communication at every stage from booking to departure was first class . The villa was very clean upon arrival and was cleaned twice during our three week stay. The location was great for us with great views of Funchal Bay, good public transport links. The villa was very spacious and very well equipped for the two of us. Every aspect was exceptional, we would not hesitate in recommending it, we certainly hope to return.

Everything was perfect for us.

Great host and fab villa for up to 6 people.

We had a lovely stay in Sandra's villa. She was an excellent host and always on hand with help and useful advice. We got picked up from the airport and even taken to and from a supermarket as it was Sunday and no shops in walking vicinity. There was a delicious Madeiran bread and wine, homegrown fruit and potatoes in the villa upon our arrival. The house was filled with beautiful fresh flowers. The location of the property is great if you have a car. Not so good if you haven't and want to explore the island. For most trips you need to go to Funchal to catch a bus from the main bus station. We loved the little bar next to the tiny village shop about 5 minutes down the road. The bar, just 1 minute up the road, serves the best poncho we've ever tasted! There's a crazy cockerel (or maybe 2?) in the house next door that provided us with an assortment of early wake up calls. Luckily we didn't mind this. Thanks Sandra and Leonardo for a lovely stay!

The double bed in the small bedroom is too small for 2 people. Also no furniture or shelves for your clothing in this bedroom.
