beautiful villa on the top of the hill, stunning views! we felt there like at our own home, the bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable, plenty of space for bigger groups of people, very quiet place, the swimming pool was great!! although the water was cold children managed to use it:)
super spot for children, the garden was safe, gates closed at all times. Lovely lady was waiting for us to welcome us.
bad smell in the garden room , ants ( but most likely it’s very difficult to not have them in the house on Madeira:)
tricky roads to the Villa.

Very spacious large, comfortable property with stunning views from inside and out .
Outside areas were lovely for eating outside and relaxing , lots of different areas to choose from and we used pool everyday which was refreshing after long Levada walks.
The driveway Is not the easiest to get in as the house is on a steep hill and if you try to enter driveway from downhill you will scrape the underside of car, However we just drove to the top of the road where there is a carpark you can turn in and entered the driveway coming in a downhill direction . Same when we went out we always went uphill and turned
Also watch out for sat nav as it does take you very obscure extremely narrow roads to get to and from house . My advice would be to go to Canhas and then start sat nav from there .

The house was spacious with great views. Easy parking. Plenty of space. Well equipped kitchen.
There were some plumbing issues. Slightly cluttered interior in places.

The outdoor area with the pool was nice, great view and there are BBQ facilities.
The house is in dire need of renovation!
When we arrived there was an acute water damage. In several places the water dripped from the ceiling, partly through the lamps. Buckets were set up to catch the water.
Obviously the problem wasn't new. There was a penetrating smell of mold throughout the house. During the night, we held cloths in front of our faces to protect ourselves a little. In one room the wooden floor has already buckled. In many places in the house there is damage from moisture visible on the walls.
Craftsmen came to the house, once unannounced.
The outside area would have been nice. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy this either, because music was played at a disco volume in the neighborhood from 8 in the morning until late in the evening on every day of our stay.
There was a short circuit in the middle of the night. No surprise with such a water damage... The landlords did not offer any help, did not send an electrician. I was just told to check the fuse box myself.
We asked the landlords for alternative accommodation, which was refused. We offered to use the pool house. Through the window we could see that the beds were freshly made. This would have been an easy solution, but it was rejected too.
The worst thing of all was that there was no support at all from the landlords. On the contrary, we were made to understand that we could leave at any time with the words "we don't want to have unhappy guests with us".
We left the accommodation and fortunately found a small hotel nearby that welcomed us wonderfully.
I am travelling a lot (also business trips) and I am really an easy guest, but this was by far the worst experience I ever had. If you want to enjoy your vacation, I highly recommend choosing other accommodation.
(All my allegations are well documented with photos, videos and screenshots).

We loved many things about the villa. It was huge for just the two of us, and the price was amazing. We loved the outdoor kitchen and the views of the hillside and ocean. Waking up to the sun streaming through the window, roosters crowing and church bells ringing was idyllic. We fell in love with Poncha the young cat who visited us every day and the village of Ponta do Sol is a wonderful spot with several great restaurants. Beatriz, our contact, was lovely and very accommodating, even mailing something to me that I forgot in the villa when we left.
The house and the furniture are a bit worn-looking and can use some upgrades. One of the walls in the upper hall was falling apart (although we were told that they would be fixing it after we left). The beds were not very comfortable: they were very hard and could use extra padding on the top. While we did not use the pool (it was too cold in January), I would recommend a weekly cleaning as the water turns green. The lounger cushions next to the pool were falling apart. The dishwasher did not work even after a plumber came and claimed it did. We were there in January and some days were so cold and windy because it is high on a hill. It is impossible to walk anywhere because of the steepness of the hills: you definitely need a car.

Huge space with lots of room for everyone. We booked the place for 3 people so that everyone had their own room. The views were fantastic! We also used the pool which is big enough to swim laps. The kitchen had everything you needed for cooking, which we did often. The beds were comfy and the views from the bedrooms were amazing! From Ponta do Sol we could easily plan our trips and didn't need more than 60 minutes to reach everything. The price is great for such a big place. We especially loved the solar panels on the roof that made the whole stay more sustainable. The host was very welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed. We can highly recommend Villa Sol!
