Peaceful location. All I needed in cottage
Needed a hoover behind cupboards etc, many spiders and cobwebs. Otherwise very clean

We received a warm welcome from June. The cottage was warm and comfortable and had everything we needed.
A few more cups and glasses would be useful, it looks like some may have been broken over time.
Other than that everything was lovely

Ideal location for relaxing holiday away
from the noise and traffic. Beautiful views
from the cottage in the farmyards.

no salt, toilet wonky.

It was very clean and had a lovely area behind the house to sit in. Kitchen/living room was spacious with comfortable couch and armchair
Would have liked small bolt on toilet door, and a larger fridge/freezer. No instructions for hob or oven.

Dairy Cottage - lovely spacious accommodation. Plenty of parking. Friendly and helpful hosts. Close to Durham (approx 15 mins drive). When sat Nav indicates you have arrived at the cottages you probably haven’t - depending on which way you have come, carry on up the hill until you see the lowdown sign for the cottages on the right.

Very comfortable clean, spacious house.
for someone may be a problem that it’s a bit remote place and there are some animals at the farm. we did not mind any of that and actually quite enjoyed it.

lovely secluded area, very picturesque. had everything we needed and will definitely be coming again in the future
the location

The place was charming, quiet & pastoral!
The property was quite a ways from the nearest settlement. That was also its charm.

Not a lot
Severe mould in shower areas and windows. Poor standard of cleanliness. Inadequate hot water in kitchen. Patio areas resembled a bomb site. Rear view overlooked farm buildings. Smoke detector hanging off. Lights not working. Walls dirty and marked where heaters had been removed. Unpleaseant smells from drains.

Rural setting, spacious accommodation. Free parking outside
Some tea bags/coffee would have been welcoming.
The owners were really friendly and helpful

cosy and comfortable
only minor criticism was that there was absolutely no cleaning material- spray, tea towels etc. remember to bring your own herbs and spices if you are cooking. facilities were very good

Really comfortable place, had everything to make you feel at home, from cooking a meal to lazing on the sofa watching a film.
The lady host was lovely, very friendly and approachable, really handy she lives next door. Beautiful views and in a lovely area, so quiet. I would absolutely recommend. We are a couple but more than enough room for a family. Loved the stay!

The keys were left in the door.
We were a bit disappointed, the property was very cold, the wifi didn’t work, there was no toilet tissue, and the shower tray was blocked.
Having said that, we were given another heater, but it was still cold. I was supplied with toilet tissue on request.
It was cold. Lots of cobwebs. It was a race to have a shower before the tray overflowed on to the bathroom floor.

Plenty of space for a big family to get together. Great location in the countryside.
I didn’t realise at the time of booking the Miner’s cottage wasn’t on the Hamsteel farm it was a 3min drive away in Quebec.

Very spacious apartment, with all the facilities needed. The host lady was friendly and on site if any help was needed. The environment was very peaceful and soothing. Lovely animals in the fun, cute little chicks if you like animals!
The welcoming bottle of wine was a sweet touch :) The host provided a folder with useful information and a bit story of their farm, rather interesting.
Will stay again in the future!
The wifi could be improved, the speed was too slow to almost watch any video on my phone, but we used 4G instead.

Great location,superb facilities.
June, the owner very helpful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay a very relaxing break.
There was nothing to dislike the holiday home was superb.

We stayed in Miners Cottage which was in a beautiful location, amazing views from living area and very spacious accommodation.
Shops only 3 minutes down the road and thoroughly enjoyed visit to the Beamish museum.
The Cottage had a great and modernised living area/ kitchen although basic was equipped with everything we needed for a lovely stay. The bedrooms were very comfortable although would benefit from a bit of modernisation. Same goes for the bathrooms, the showers were good but felt they needed a deep clean. Although this could have been due to the fact we were kindly allowed to check in early.
Good value for money and had a great trip!
