Location great.

The best part of our stay was seeing the sunrise from our bed every morning

We really liked the house and location. Unfortunately, there was black mold growing on the wall upstairs so VRBO recommended we vacate the property. It was stressful to try to find somewhere else to stay last minute but we got a full refund from VRBO without any hassle. However, once the owner removes the mold, I'm sure it will be a great place to stay because the location was excellent with lovely views of Southwest Harbor.

The previous reviews prepared us for what we were to find. The house was hard to find, especially after dark. We had a very cool week, but if it was warmer, we were concerned that it could be hot in the cottage. Previous reviews mentioned bugs, but we did see two roaches the entire week. It was very spacious and had a nice view.

The house was very beautiful and well maintained.
Had a fantastic stay at the property recently and will definitely be going back. Thank you!

Sadly this my was worst renting experience of all time. I should have paid closer attention to some of the other reviews. There was zero communication with the host; no check-in info (just hoped the door would be open and it was), no folder in the house, etc. I even called to get the wifi password and never heard back. Found it on a scrap of paper under a pile of other papers. No instructions whatsoever. We had one trash bag and 2 rolls of toilet paper for five people for 7 days with no supplies left. I would have brought my own if I knew that was expected but again, no communication. No working can opener. One night a smoke alarm was chirping and I found three of them in a kitchen cabinet - only one with a battery in it. And no batteries to replace them. Roaches everywhere. Broken screens in every room. Just gross. The outside was overgrown and the view was just meh. Not worth the price. We actually all started feeling sick too - joint pain, sore throat, I got a rash - which resolved as soon as we left. I swear it was mold or something. Nightmare vacation.

Like others, we loved this place and its location. It was quiet with a beautiful view. The beds were nice. We found it clean and well-appointed for our needs. We had wondered why the bathrooms weren't pictured--and if this meant they were terrible--but never fear, there are two bathrooms and they are just fine. Washer/dryer in excellent condition and complete a cycle very quickly. The place is big - in fact there's also a sleeping porch with another bed - and we loved staying on the quiet side, avoiding all the summertime hubbub and traffic. So five stars for the home and its location.
Like others, our only quibble was in terms of communication. The place was hard to locate. This could easily have been avoided with better check-in instructions, something like "Continue on the road all the way to the top of the hill. You will pass through what appears to be the gated entrance to an animal shelter. Keep going forward. Look for the small reddish barn and park beside it. You have arrived." Like others, we had to reach out to Danielle for both check-in and check-out instructions. There is no in-house communication about the wifi or trash or anything really. Danielle responded quickly to our initial request for wifi password, but when that didn't work, she disappeared (in her defense, it was Saturday night, so perhaps she was out), leaving us without wifi for our first day / night there. My husband needed access for work, so on Sunday, he called Spectrum himself and rebooted the entire system. I let Danielle know that we had finally secured access, and she blamed it on a street-wide internet outage. But she had not provided us with either the correct router or correct password in the first place, and knew of no alternates. In my opinion, she should have called Spectrum Saturday night and handled this for us--and if there had been an outage, should have kept us notified. Our interactions with Danielle were very pleasant, however. With just a few improvements to pre-arrival instructions and addition of a in-house instructions, we would be giving 5 stars across the board. It is truly a lovely home!

This place needs pest control, better maintenance and cleaning service
Old house: Many areas need attention pest control being the first there were spiders, centipede and a mouse trap was left in the kitchen floor which I am glad I've found that before my 1.5 year old did. I also found mice poop in the couch and kitchen counter and although it wasn't much it was gross. The downstairs bathroom is in pretty bad shape and there were some black things in the floor around the toilet I cant really tell what it was. Whoever cleans the house doesn't really do a good job. The yard is not upkeep as others reviewers have noticed. I would not stay at this house again. We considered not staying there at all once we checked in but I was travelling with 2 infants during Memorial day week so pretty hard to find another place to stay plus my husband had to login to do some work that same day so we ended up staying but I did not enjoy my time there unfortunately. I do not recommend this house for your vacation find someplace else.

Great House
We arrived after dark and could not find the house! It's somewhat hidden. Danielle came out and helped us, phew. The house is lovely: large and clean. A secluded street (end is unpaved and quite bumpy) and very quiet. Very nice place.

Comfortable, quirky house on the quiet end of MDI
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the opportunity to become acquainted with a corner of MDI that we hadn't previously explored. The house was comfortable for a married couple and two young adult children with most of the amenities that you would expect in a vacation home (some of which weren't included in the original listing). There were a couple of concerns however:
Host did not respond through the VRBO website to an inquiry prior to our arrival. Check-in/out information was not posted to VRBO in a timely fashion and an outdated phone number was listed as the primary contact, which made the check-in process concerning-we were fortunate that the outdated contact answered the phone and provided us with the correct phone number for the host.
There was no information guide in the house, which meant that during our stay we had to make contact with the host about things such as rubbish disposal or figure them out on our own.
Having a fan for each bedroom (rather than just one for the whole house) would be appropriate for a summer rental, even if it is in a relatively cool, seaside location.
In general, we would have appreciated the host being somewhat more attentive, so that we could have a more carefree stay.

Charming but Large Cottage
Loved this home. It was spacious for our family of 4, we could have invited friends. All living areas had ample space. Beds were comfortable. There was storage for all of our clothing, food, toiletries. The yard was a bit unkempt, but was a wonderful quiet place for the children to play while we relaxed. decks were great spots for dining and enjoying the view. Overall, would recommend this home. What a great find!
A few small complaints: home could use some more silverware/plates/cups as we found the 4 of us needing to hand wash between using the dishwasher.
There were no instructions whatsoever in regards to trash, checking out, checking in, linens, etc. We were lucky to find the wifi password in a drawer.
While check-in was easy, we were having a bit of anxiety not having any information from our contact about where to find keys on our way into town. We feared we had been scammed (obviously this was not the case).
Also, I was not able to get in touch with the contact during our stay at all. I didn't have any emergency contact information and she was not answering my messages about check-in, trash etc. Not one reply.
Better communication is needed here, but that doesn't change my overall opinion of this great home.

Good location, very functional cottage
This cottage sits up over Southwest Harbor, renovated recently, with two nice bedrooms with king beds and one with two twins.
It is not fancy but is very functional, with outdoor places to sit, grill, eat, as well as a very functional kitchen. It worked well for a variety of visiting family members along with us.

Nice House
The house was older but appeared to have been remodeled inside. It was very clean and had modern appliances. Excellent location on the quiet side of the island. Had deer walking in the yard in the evenings and flyovers from peregrine falcons almost every evening.

Mansethouse
The house served our purposes very well. The interior had been updated with some items in the renovation phase. The accommodations were clean and adequate. The location is excellent for exploring Acadia and the surrounding area. The exterior of the house and yard needs attention. The owner was very accessible and quickly responded to any questions we had.

Great place to be for week. Could get to all areas of Mount Dessert Island.
Could tell were first guests of season. Yard work needed. There was no "house book" with info about the area, who to call with emergency; restaurants, general helpful hints.
Kitchen needs a larger bowl.
Good place to be for week away!!

Amazing Place to Relax and Unwind
My husband and I stayed for 10 days and enjoyed every moment. It's even better than advertised.....just about everything has been renovated/updated. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could possible need for cooking. It's a short walk into town and a quick drive to various trailheads. Southwest Harbor is much less crowded than Bar Harbor so it's a great place for a bit of peace and quiet. The best part of the house is the amazing view from the deck and upstairs bedroom. The sunrises are unbeatable. Sitting on the deck with your morning coffee is a great way to start the day. I highly recommend this house.

Amazing!
Everything about our stay was amazing! The house was clean and wonderfully decorated! The views in every room are literally spectacular. Amazing sunrises, views of the harbor and beautiful deer sightings every day right out every window! Kitchen was fully stocked with anything we needed and if we didn't have it danielle and Debby were quick to respond and provide anything we needed. Would recommend this place 100 times over! Thank you for an unforgettable week!

Wonderful
We had a very nice time at this beautiful property. Our only concern was a pesky mouse (which is quite unavoidable this time of year we understand). Also the microwave was not cleaned and was pretty icky. We loved the beautiful space and views and hope we can rent the space again next year. Would recommend to everyone.

Acadia getaway
Convenient location within walking distance to town center. Clean interior. Nice eastern view of the harbor. House number could be better marked as we had a little trouble finding the house along the long drive in to the back lot location. Otherwise very enjoyable visit.

Awesome house in Southwest Harbor within walking distance of town and restaurants.
What a great place! This house was newly remodeled by the owners, and was originally the home of the family that ran the first animal shelter on the island (on the back of the property). It was super clean, the beds and linens were very comfortable and the house had everything we needed and plenty of room for six. We had family over for dinner one night and the kitchen and dining area were plenty big for the eight of us.
Our favorite thing about the house was the amazing view of Southwest Harbor from the front rooms, and sitting out on the front deck each morning and evening watching the boats come in. We could also walk into the cute little downtown of SW Harbor for some shopping, lunch, or dinner. The Upper Deck, which is right at the bottom of the hill from the house, was a fun place to have lunch or dinner, with a great view of the harbor and good seafood. Try the FIsh and Chips, Lobster Roll, or “Everything but the Kitchen Sink” Sunday-yum!
The owners were great about sharing the interesting history of the house, and were super responsive anytime we had questions or needed anything.
We plan to return next year-thanks Debbie and Danielle for the great week!
