This house was perfect for our family of five. Southwest harbor was right next door and had everything we would need. It was great to go out adventuring and have this quiet haven to return to. We will definitely be renting here again on our next trip.

We selected the house in SW Harbor for the location AND the size, number of bedrooms/baths, since we had two couples. The home is sooo close to everything SW Harbor has to offer, which was great, because we didn't want to have to deal with the congestion of Bar Harbor. The property manager was in communication with us a week or so prior and before our stay to provide info to access the property and let us know when there was a battery needing to be replaced in the front door lock. It wasn't a big deal, since there was another entrance in the back. Parking was abundant. There is some maintenance needed on the house, painting, cleaning, etc which was communicated to the manager.

We recently enjoyed a five night stay at Slack Tide. Our group consisted of four adults, a teen and our 8 year old granddaughter. The home is exactly what I expected from the online description, pics and other reviews. The house provided us with plenty of space and amenities that accommodated everyone’s needs. Upon arrival we found the home to be very clean, with a well organized and equipped kitchen. The entire inside appeared freshly painted with lots of coastal charm and decor to enjoy. For us the location worked well. We could walk to the nearby restaurants and shops as well as hop in the car and visit all of what Acadia has to offer. One thing to note is that the home (typical of that area) is very close to the road (Main Street). This would not accommodate outdoor “play” for children. There is a back deck, table and chairs with BBQ grill, none of which we utilized as we are out each evening. I think this home is a great value as I found the rental price was very reasonable compared to others I looked at. Steve is an incredibly responsive host. If you are looking for a stay in Southwest Harbor don’t hesitate to rent. You won’t be sorry!

Our group of 8 (2 parents, 3 adult children and their friends) stayed here and it was a great fit. Steps from restaurants, bakeries and a very managable drive (25 min) to Bar Harbor it was a great location. It is right on a busy street. The noise did not bother us at all as we were out enjoying the park during the day. In the evening traffic is super light so nothing to bother your sleep. The host has it beautifully furnished. I would highly recommend this home but not for 8 adults. The fourth room is in a walkway to the bathroom that is shared with the master and the entire first floor so not a private location so a bit awkward for adults. It would be a fine room for young kids. But for 6 people this house is perfect for young and old. The kitchen was well stocked and made our stay that much more comfortable. Being a mom I did notice all of the wonderful kid proof touches that would make it a great place for even those with curious toddlers :).

We loved the home's central location in Southwest Harbor!
The amenities of the home met all of our needs. The outside of the home (front porch and back deck) wasn't usable because of maintenance. These spaces need to be power washed and the furniture wiped down!

Our family reserved 3 homes for our reunion
There were 45 of us. Slack Tide was the perfect size for our little group. This house is close to coffee shops, restaurants, and access to hiking trails by car. Host was very accommodating and easy to work with. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds very comfortable. If we ever come back to Maine we would stay here again.

My recent stay at this VRBO property was very good! From start to finish, the experience was enjoyable.
The owner's communication was very good, and they went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and hassle-free. They were responsive and attentive, which made the whole process smooth.
The place was clean, and the well-stocked kitchen was a pleasant surprise, even though we didn't use it much. The charming atmosphere of the property added to the overall appeal.
One notable convenience was the presence of a baby gate at the top of the stairs, which was a thoughtful touch for families with little ones. However, it's worth mentioning that the upstairs bathroom was a bit awkward compared to the one on the first floor.
The washer and dryer worked well, which made our stay even more convenient. Despite the property being next to the main road, the traffic noise was not bothersome at all.
The EV charger is a 14-50 receptacle was a significant benefit, and just remember to bring your own level 2 charger, as it's a receptacle rather than a dedicated charger. This information is important for fellow EV travelers, so they can plan accordingly.
The location was superb! Being within an easy walking distance to town made exploring the area a breeze. We could easily access restaurants, shops, and other attractions.
All in all, I can't recommend this VRBO property enough. It was a very good experience, and I would happily return for another stay in the future.

Slack Tide is a wonderful, clean house within very close walking distance of everything in downtown Southwest Harbor. It is also a short drive to Acadia National Park trails and activities on the “Quiet Side” of MDI. Our family had a lovely week in the peak of summer and hope to come back again soon!

This home is a wonderful spot for all things Acadia NP. It’s location is great on the quieter side of the island. We loved SW harbor, especially Eat-A-Pita restaurant (get the lobster tacos).
The home is extremely clean, even the basement. It was well equipped and extremely comfortable for our family. Steve was easy to get ahold of for checking in and out instructions.
The main parts of Acadia were about 20 minutes away. We did 14 hikes all around the park in 2.5 days and they were easy to get to from the home. We highly recommend getting reservations (in advance) for a sunrise at Cadillac Mountain, hiking the Beehive trail, and all the photographic opportunities at Sand Beach and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse.
Stay at this beautiful home, you won’t regret it!

Middle part of a weeklong bike tour of Maine. Great location away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor but still very accessible to the routes we planned to ride. Southwest Harbor has some great places to eat.

When I booked this property there were no reviews yet. I sent a message to Steve, the owner, and he responded to all my questions immediately. I felt this was a good sign and took the chance (I rely on reviews). Happy to say the house and our stay was great. The house is very clean, spacious, well decorated, and in a great location. We went to Bar Harbor and Acadia most days. It is a pleasant ride there, probably around 20 minutes (one lane roads). Southwest Harbor is a great area too. Coffee shops, restaurants , shops, even a little library all just a few doors away from the house. We even walked to Charlotte Rhoades Butterfly Park which was really nice (approx 1/2 mile). Bass Harbor Lighthouse is only a few miles drive from the house. We really enjoyed our stay. One note- the positives on the house being so close to many things also means it's on a road that at certain times of the day may have many cars going by. It is overall quiet though.

We enjoyed our stay and the location was perfect. We walked to all the restaurants in Southwest Harbor and it was a easy drive over to Arcadia. The owner was very easy to work with and even checked on us after a minor issue. Would rent again!
