Warm and cozy stay

Very good location,10'from glacier lagoon,very homie vibe and the hostess Cornilia amazing person ,very helpful and polite. Defently if i m around the in the future,i ll choose again Skyrhusid for my stay!

Thoroughly recommended

This hostel exceeded my expectations and was a wonderful base for 2 nights to explore the Vatnajokull area. We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The room was lovely and the bed was super comfortable. Every was well maintained and clean. The kitchen was very well fitted out and had lovely touches like coffee, tea, juice and welcome cake! The manager was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were also lucky to be in the region for a couple of sunny, clear days so could make use of the picnic tables outside. I cannot recommend this highly enough!

Not a complaint as it didn't really impact us, just a note for travellers - his kitchen space is a little small and a peak times was rather crowded.

Most a affordable place in the area. A good hostel experience for the money considering the high cost of this area of Ic

Location is ideal to see the iceberg lagoon in the evening and again in the morning. Bed was comfortable.

There was no cake or skyr when we stayed there and we had counted on it for breakfast. Though I realize that it was the reviews that lead me to believe it would be provided and not the hostel itself. So maybe don’t count on it.

Only ten minutes drive to the glacier. Very cozy and clean. Had a lovely feel. Good facilities and the Icelandic cake was delicious.

Great place to stay while visiting Jokulsarlon and south east Iceland. Would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our short stay in Skyrhusid. Our room was spacious with two comfortable beds. Nice big kitchen for guest use, well stocked with everything you need. Friendly and welcoming host.

I can't rave about the communal bathrooms but they were totally adequate. I had somewhat lowered expectations given that we would be sharing bathrooms anyway.

Pleasant

This location is exceptional for distance to the glacier lagoon. There are few options in the area as it's super remote but this had a restaurant next door which was nice. The hostel was very cute and cozy and the staff was really nice. They asked everyone to take their shoes off inside which added a nice, clean feeling.

We did notice that because the hostel was rather booked up, it was difficult to use the kitchen or common space (tables, etc.). The bathrooms were overrun by the end of the night and caused the showers to be a bit grimy.

cozy stay meeting nice people

cozy and welcoming after a long day full of rain. beds aee comfortable. Community kitchen and room was very nice. you could buy basic groceries like pasta when you fogot them. free coffee, juice, milk and delicious cake

pipe with warm water did not work properly. not a big issue and can happen but would have been nice to get a message in advance

Very nice stay in beautiful surrounding

Nice room, well equipped kitchen (although no frying allowed), really nice host, we even got cake when checking in, the bathrooms were a bit small but very clean, perfect location for our glacier Tour (we even got a discount for it from our host), because it started just at the next house

There was no breakfast included, but the possibility in a nearby restaurant

A very tiny comment on the bedsheets tho, better if replaced with just a white cotton sheets. the lints were matting so some part of the current sheets were rough and very comfortable. But a minor con!

did not mention in my earlier review. the staff was so good at responding to messages that it took away my stress of Icelandic roads. we were stuck at Vik since the roads were closed but luckily through chatting with them we came to know roads were open and we reached the guesthouse

Had a lovely stay!

There was a nice common room where we met some friendly people. The rooms where clean and the price-quality ratio was great. Also, we loved the host, and he baked some amazing complimentary traditional Icelandic Marriage cake!

The bathrooms and dining room are shared, so if you are not into something like that you should not book.

Very Welcoming accommodations Clean and Cozy

The place is so clean and tidy. The welcome cake was the best Icelandic food we've tried in Iceland. The people running the place were very kind and friendly. The kitchen was well maintained.

The place is very nice, but after staying in a few places, also somewhere very close to this one, we still think the price is much higher compared to other accommodations. Especially its shared bathroom and the rooms are the smallest among all the places we've stayed in Iceland. But we had a very good time here so still highly recommended to everyone!

Room was clean and nice. I mom felt a little bit cold in the room, so we asked if the room can be heated up more. The owner was very kind, he provided us additional mobile radiator which was just enough.
