The lake View
When arriving they offer food and drinks without
Letting costumers know they will be charged when checking out. They don't have a menu with prices. Food, Coffee are expensive, bathroom need more privacy (stick swinging doors).
There's no employee assistance during the morning, they get there after 7:30am.

We loved the vibe of Casa Lamat, very tranquil in nature, perfect for relaxation. Excellent location on on the Laguna. Xavi and the rest of the staff are excellent hosts.

the setting , the rooms, the contact with the nature
the yoga session in the morning which prevents you from going into the water as the teacher asks you to leave not to disturb the others. it’s a pity…

a stunningly beautiful location, the garden path to the water is exceptional and picked daily for the well prepared breakfast!
the beds were very hard, could be better quality.

beautiful lagoons location!
the showers were not super (low pressure, very little warmth).

The design of the hotel and the territory was very nice.
There was no hot water in our room (maybe it’s part of the eco-hotel concept, but I would prefer the opportunity to wash my hair with hot water). The bungalows are not sound-proof to say the least, so I had to
listen to music and dog barking in the evening. When we arrived at the hotel around 5 pm, the reception was closed and the owners gone, we were lucky to meet the owner’s friend who took us to our bungalow. And the next day I practically had to chase the owner to pay for our stay. The tea in the morning was cold. The wi-fi didn’t work.

the place is nice and directly on the laguna.
People working there have been not correct.
nothing is included if they told you something is, be careful

I love their concept. eco clean for the environment. My room was a great size, as I arrived a day early thinking i was staying there, that was my fault. I ended up booking with them the day i arrived and then the next day ( my original reservation) Frank, bless his heart, he went out of his way many times to make sure the things that did go wrong were made better, by offering my free breakfast every day, and even offered for me to stay another night on them. but I had a plane to catch so it was not an option for me.
The internet did not work in my room, only in the kitchen communal. There was construction going on and it was loud. that was not ideal. especially as I was not told ahead of time. I like very quiet hotels. I did not like that they never responded to my booking messages. not sure what happened there. Frank the manager there made sure that all the wrongs got corrected and he was very nice, always checking up on me and apologizing plenty of times.

I liked the owner and the people at reception and the lake tht it's very pretty
The room was EXTREMLY HOT. The food was below average and they wouldn't tell you they didn't have rice or potatoes but charge you for it. Sleeping there was too much due to the lack of ventilation.

Located right next to the lake, Casa Lamat has a private pier with hammocks. Don’t be lazy and wake up in 6:30 for the sunrise, the view is amazing. The owner and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. It is a short taxi ride from the city (50 pesos) or 20 minutes walk.
The rooms are quite small.

Having the lake so close to the hut
Lack of wifi, entrance door wouldn’t close properly and breakfast wasn’t included. Given the high cost of the night stay over the weekend, they should have put more effort into fixing those things instead of allowing such high charge

beautiful setting with wonderful gardens and jetty with hammocks over lagoon. pretty palapa thatched cabanas. also really good food.
shower not strong enough to wash our hair, also, quite expensive and not good coffee, but I loved it anyway.

If it had been half the price, I would have given it an 8!
We liked the fact that they are eco minded, that there’s a jetty out onto the water, the food was nice and Lua the receptionist was lovely.
This property is ridiculously overpriced!!! (We paid 1900 pesos for a double bed) The huts are quite old, and much smaller than in the pictures. There’s no lake view due to design of the windows (too small and low) and the trees (but it’s a good thing they didn’t chop down the trees), and the “balcony” is just big enough for a mini deck chair but totally not inviting to sit on. After using the taps, there was a really bad smell coming from the sink, and seeing as there’s no real door to the bathroom that means you also smell this when trying to go to sleep.
It shows a lovely picture of a hut, but inside are actually 4 rooms. The walls are made from sticks and plaster, so it sounded like the loud French family staying downstairs was actually sitting inside our bedroom, and we were woken up by the smell of cigarette smoke from a guest smoking on the balcony behind us.
They do have kayaks and paddle boards, but you have to pay another 350/450 pesos for a couple of hours, whereas we already paid so much for the room. This felt like a complete rip off and therefore we didn’t use them.
I voiced my total disappointment to the receptionist in person instead of just leaving a bad review here, but as I had expected there was nothing she could do about it.

The vibe is very relaxed, nice garden and super deck on the Laguna. The food was good and the staff was very friendly.
We liked the room, so close to nature...
Kajak rental was a bit expensive and it would be great if the casa would have bycicles to use for their guests.

We stayed for 3 night on 2 different rooms. This review is about first 2 days when stayed in a small room next to reception. The only room with air conditioning.
Small room. 1 small window. It's cheap and functional. We had a great night sleep. But we didn't really spend any nite time except for night there. So good option for fingidas cheap stay in an exceptional place. All facilities were wonderful.
For the last day we moved to a family room which was wonderful.
The place is 10min by bike from center of bacalar.
Very welcoming staff. And we got dock connection with the owner Xavy.
There is kayak, sup to rent, they organise sailboat trips. The good in the restaurant is simple and delicious. Good fajitas, quesadillas. Cooked by a local lady.
We took massage with my husband with Chándal. It was 900pesos each for 1h and was amazing. The massage cabin is next to the lagoon so you are really in the nature.
The dock is so special. You can go on the roof and jump into lagoon, stargaze at night or sunbathe in hamacas.
One night we stayed in family room. Very comfy bed. Lovely space with loads of windows. Great mosquito net.
Xavy the owner is a unique person with such big heart and a lot to share to the world. We had 3h yoga / philosophy clad with him in the dock the first day of our stay. We thought he was just a yoga teacher, but he is the creator and owner of the casa lamat. He told us the story of the place and how he runs it in a sustainable way.
We didnt manage to have got shower. Possibly due to some works that the owner was doing to improve the solar panels.

The place uses solar panels. It's a great idea. Unfortunately we didn't get one single hot shower in 3 days. But lukewarm. The days are really hot in bacalar normally so you don't really need it

setting. rustic. quaint. authentic experience. wonderful people. really good opportunity to interact with other people. right in the water. lovely dock.
only one place to gather with a group- in the eating area.
no hot water. fans were too loud. electrics in disrepair. - I got a shock from the light.
adjoining cabanas were not sound proof.

Great location on the lake, with a boat dock and hammocks. Beautiful surroundings, quaint, clean, efficient individual huts, friendly, helpful staff, and great reasonably priced breakfast.
Communication would have saved a lot of time if there was an English speaking receptionist

Everything!
The food, the rooms, the layout of the place, the team are so friendly & helpful. Nothing is too much trouble.
The sunrise yoga on the pier was amazing, as was the catamaran tour of the lagoon.
They are striving to be as ecologically friendly as possible & really care for their environment so passionately.
The energy of this place is incredibly special.
We loved everything.
If I have any complaint then it would be for them to stock a few more things like ice creams as there is no shop within walking distance.
