Beautiful old hotel, very artistic.tasteful period decor
Friendly helpful staff.
Delicious breakfast
8.0 / 10.0
All food was very good for both breakfast and evening meals. The room was a decent size for a couple. The hotel was central for the city centre and sea front facilities. Staff were very nice and polite / friendly at all times.
Unfortunately the room let the stay down, the sink in the bathroom was cracked although functional, the bath was starting to lose its laminate. Windows needed cleaning outside for view into the city, one pane had a crack and single glazing made it possible to hear the boy racers going roundabout to roundabout. The door to the room was poorly fitted and rattled all night, the bed was hard and the pillows very poor.

Het hele gebouw de oude grandeur!
Het was oud dat was niet erg, maar de meubels zijn op! Het ontbijt heel karig het buffet stelde niks voor heel jammer.

The hotel itself is beautiful and full of character. I had room 208 which isn't even the most luxurious room but I certainly felt like a princess. The whole place feels locked in time in a good way, like being in one of those YA historical novels. I was so well fed on this trip I could barely manage breakfast on my last trip.
I honestly don't have complaints. I did have a small battle of dominance with the bath taps because I wasn't quite clever enough to figure out how to get just the shower going, but to be honest having a shower in a bath was pretty wonderful.

Ein Hotel mit Geschichte, Aus der Frühzeit der Eisenbahnen, den Bahnhof gegenüber gibt es aber nicht mehr,
Erheblicher Renovierungsbedarf.

The room was more than adequate for our use - we did have a problem with the ensuite loo, but when able to report to the reception, by the end of the day we had a new loo. All the staff we saw & dealt with were very attentive & personable, a credit to the hotel.
We didn't have time to stay longer & enjoy the hidden treasures of the hotel - for you to find :)

Didn't have breakfast, the location is close to town however in a quiet area. The room was quite basic but fine for a quick stop.

The central location is fantastic, the breakfast and room are ideal. Easy to navigate to also being such a central location.
Car park, they advertise car park, but it is so small it fills up easily and I do not remember seeing there is a £7.50 parking charge, it may be bi in the write up and I just missed it. However the £7.50 charge certainly beats the £17.20 charge the council charge to street park, once you can access Ring Go that is, took me 1/2 hour.

From the friendly receptionist to the excellent room, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were there to see a performance at the Pavilions which is just across the road from the Hotel main entrance. We booked in for a two course meal (pre-show) at 5.30pm which was excellent and very good value for money. We also enjoyed a very good full English breakfast before departing. Great to stay in a hotel with Character.
Very small car park although we did find a space.

Friendly staff and lovely fresh cooked English breakfast. great location for the Theatre and Plymouth pavilions.
Decor and furnishings could do with a bit of a freshen up. Windows very drafty which made the room chilly, even though the heating was on.

Location & facilities
It was difficult to get a drink at the bar as the one barman was also cooking food in the kitchen..so guests had to keep waiting fir the barman to reappear…
Which was frustrating for guests

It’s a lovely hotel that’s full of character. A well preserved Manor House with a few quirks. It’s not perfect but it’s very well priced and is exceptionally cool compared to a bog standard premier inn or travel lodge. I’d stay there again with no hesitation.
Car park was small and usually full, but that can’t be helped due to the central location.

This is a beautiful old building with an air of elegance redolent of a bygone era. The rooms are bright and airy with a pleasant aspect, comfortable bed, heating and a private bathroom complete with a bath and plenty of hot water. The staff are most helpful and welcoming. The hotel offers a pleasant and comfortable bar.

The service and support with my meetings
A lady left it until 15.30pm extended checkout time, before she approached me with a breakfast declined payment.

Good location for the ferry. Staff very kind and friendly, parking onsite for a small charge. Dogs welcome.
Very tired hotel for the price paid (£135). Hotel in Ned of refurbishment, very dated decor, scaffolding all around with builders working from 8.30am walking past the room window. Tiny bathroom.

Location, Breakfast, Staff.
Plumbing needs attention - although Bathroom was clean the units and taps need upgrading.

A classic beauty maybe a little bit dated but it’s part of the charm.
The isolation (noise) is not the best

The room was much bigger than expected and had a four-poster bed! Very nice, also the bathroom had both a bath and shower - all very well maintained and clean.
Parking is very limited, we were very lucky to get a space.

Friendly staff and the room was very comfortable.
There was a small free view tv. It would have been nice to watch things like Netflix.

staff were absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble.
The picture advertising the hotel looks really lovely however it doesn’t represent the hotel at all at the moment it’s completely covered in scaffolding and a major building site, making it look like a total tip!

The receptionist was very helpful and welcoming. The room was a perfectly good size considering it was only a single and everything was clean. The lift is small and probably quite old but got me to and from the top floor with no issues. Getting back to the hotel after midnight was not a problem either as an attentive night porter was on duty. There is also on-site parking, at a cost.
This was probably my fault but I couldn't make the shower head work - there didn't seem to be an obvious way to switch to that from the bath taps. Whilst the cost of parking at the hotel is reasonable I don't think it was made obvious enough that there was a charge. There are not many useful shops in close walking distance of the hotel.
