THE BESTTT PROPERTY ON BOOKING.COM. It was a beautiful Ryokan home owned by a cute family of three. Super caring and accomodating to us. All three provided us with the best hospitality we have ever experienced. It felt as though we were at home. Definitely a one of a kind experience. The Mother had prepared fresh mochi sweets for us and the the Father took us around Kyoto and explained the history of the area as well as taking the best photographs! The son was super attentive with our needs. I hope people can choose this property and experience the TRUE AUTHENTIC JAPANESE EXPERIENCE. The home is super beautiful words cannot explain. 10000/10 from me and my sister.

Real Machiya experience as compared with many other recently built one by China money.
Hospitality of the owner family.
Space with huge Japanese tatami rooms and garden.
You can experience real old Machiya therefore, the building does not have modern isolation for temperature control. If weather is extremely hot or cold, air conditioning will not be effective as compared with morden buildings. Although when we stayed, no issue at all ( outside day temp 23 degree, night 13 degree)
The accommodation is like home stay. Hence do not expect five star hotel facilities, like space for storing suit cases, most modern hairdryer, although most facilities are better equipped than four star hotels like auto open toilet, wooden bathtub, towel quality, amenity quality (L’occitane), beddings (Futon).
The beddings were not put away during day time like normal Ryokan. So when you come back from excursion, futons were lying there with redone beddings. We stayed as three people so too many futons were lying around. If you stay as a couple, I guess they will put two futons in one room and another room will be left alone with table and Japanese chairs like a suite room plan.

Our stay at Jeugiya felt like a magical dream as soon as we arrived, and is truly the best place either of us have ever stayed. Everything about Jeugiya exceeded our expectations, but ultimately it was our incredibly kind hosts that made Jeugiya so special!
Our beautifully traditional room with its own private garden blew us away; it was a quiet oasis in the heart of Gion and sleeping there each night felt like being transported back in time to another era. We loved coming back after a day of sightseeing to chill in our Yukatas, or to have a soak in our gorgeous bath overlooking the garden.
The breakfasts were like having a meal at a fine dining restaurant each morning, except from the comfort of our room. Masumi-san is an incredibly talented cook and each dish she made (of which there were many) was exquisite - the best food we've had in Japan and even better than the fancy kaiseki meal we had in Kyoto! She even invented some of the recipes so we got to try some completely new food.
Seii-chiro-san was also so kind to give us a lift to Arashiyama one day and drive us to the station when we left, and we loved talking to him and his son Bunichi-san, who both speak English and are super warm and generous people. We felt totally welcomed by the whole family.
Thank you so much to our hosts Seiichiro-san, Masumi-san, Bunichi-san and Mami-san for making our stay unforgettable. We already can't wait to come back!

The family who were our hosts! They were the kindest, most lovely people who greeted us upon arrival and leaving, gave us recommendations, fed us the most delicious traditional Japanese breakfast every morning, and were the absolute highlight of the trip. The beds were also comfortable and the location was excellent.

The family were incredibly gracious and kind. They welcomed us in at check out with a wonderful homemade cake and some tea. Then we were given a tour of the beautiful space we had for the day, and after we returned from sightseeing and dinner, our beds were set out for us. The garden and living space were both so beautiful, we felt instantly so relaxed here. And after checking out, we were even given a ride to our next accommodation!
Thank you so much for an incredible stay.
No complaints.

The property is very well kept. It is well preserved and has modern amenities. There are two Toto fully automated toilets and three vanities area. The rooms are spacious and cleaned and tidied everyday. It is always well stocked with water, toiletries, tea, and coffee everyday. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay so pleasant and memorable. Every afternoon the owner’s wife will make the most delicious Japanese dessert for us. The owner would offer to take us to the train stations and they are always there to help us. THe whole family is so kind and wonderful and if we go back to Kyoto this will be the place we will stay.

Excellent location in Gion in a very comfortable and traditional Ryokan. Traditional or continental breakfasts were delicious. The best feature, however, were the very kind and accommodating family who went out of their way to ensure our stay was memorable and enjoyable. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Wonderful experience, much more interesting than a typical hotel stay. Hosts were beyond hospitable, the property was perfectly located, the breakfast and welcome snack were delicious, and all in all was one of our favorite stays in Kyoto.

Very authentic traditional 150 year old renovated Japanese home situated in a quiet street in Gion only a block from beautiful traditional homes, picturesque waterways and hundreds of great restaurants. We were incredibly well looked after from the moment we checked in. The home was serviced daily with fresh towels, comfy beds made etc just like a hotel but with a beautiful personal touch of being looked after by a family. We will be back!

Everything! The ryokan itself and service from the hosts were impeccable. The room, bath and dining areas are surrounded by Japanese gardens so it was lovely to greeted by a very quaint view at every turn. Also love the sumptuous Japanese breakfast and cedar wood bathtub. Will definitely want to stay here again when we next visit Kyoto!

I didn't know what to expect so I'd summarise by saying that Jeugiya is a perfectly restored and maintained traditional 100yr old Japanese house that functions like a tiny hotel with you as the only guest ... in the best location in Kyoto.
The service was impeccable.
The breakfast was 1st class in every way and they accommodated our specific dietary requests.
The mattresses were very comfortable - it's Japan so they were on the tatami mats.
We loved that Jeugiya's back garden door opened onto a beautiful cherry blossom laden canal.
I really can't think of anything that wasn't 1st class.

The owners are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fantastic. The gardens are wonderful. You will feel as at home. The location is very good. You will find more than 50 restaurants nearby. But you are living in a silent surroundings. We have been two times in Jeugiya and feel at home.
