The room was lovely and comfortable , and was very easy excess to the spa / pool

Very friendly staff. Clean in all areas. High quality decor throughout the hotel. Excellent quality mattress and pillows. Really good food for the evening meal and the breakfast.
The spa was good, but a lack of seating areas around the pool is an issue. A smaller pool and more loungers would have been balance for the facility.

location and room good
party carried on until 2 am with lots of noise by my room . dog barking at 5am. staff grumpy in bar

The hotel has a spa facilities with a restaurant on site
The car park was full of people who had come for lunch so even though we were staying at the hotel we were unable to park the car in the car park or on the street nearby. As a disabled person, this was a catastrophe. This meant we had to drive on to the garden centre and have lunch there instead which wasn’t what we wanted to do. This may be due to it being 2 weeks before Christmas but parking should be prioritised for hotel residents. There was also a very strong smell of sewage on the passageway where the toilets are which was unpleasant.

The toilet in the room did not flush and the bathroom was very dirty. I tried for almost an hour to call someone at reception to let them know which went unanswered. There were also hairs in the bed.
The WiFi in the room did not work and there was no phone signal and the phone in the room did not dial out so I was completely unreachable for the entirety of my stay.
I was overcharged at checkout for my Breakfast charging me double and had to awkwardly fight with them in front of other guests to have them refund me. The coffee machine did not work and I ordered a coffee with the staff but this never arrived.

The quality of the hotel and the gardens
The gardens need a bit of attention as loads of weeds in the Japanese garden. No itemised bill even though i asked for one

Lovely, spacious room with a big bed (necessary because my husband is not small). Plenty of room in the bathroom. We ate in the pub on arrival - food great, staff helpful (i have allergies). Breakfast really nice. Loved our stay
Nothing at all. The whoel experience was great. From check in to check out everything was super and the staff were lovely.
6.0
the building, the room, the bar and restaurant was good
the reception staff were difficult and hard to deal with and didn’t mention they had a lift and we had to carry our own bags up and down many stairs and the spa treatment was late and keep us waiting.

The food at Palm court in the evening was fantastic. The venue of Palm court is also absolutely stunning. The spa facilities were really nice. The grounds are beautiful.
The room was not as advertised, we booked the superior king but unlike the photos online the room had no sofa, no double basins, no free standing bath. There were large cobwebs in the room. The Aircon was broken and we couldn't open our windows because the main building Aircon unit was right outside and was really noisy so the room was far too hot. The WiFi didn't work in the room. The phone didn't work. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work.
Overall this left us feeling very disappointed with our stay.

Nice building and surroundings.
Clearly under staffed, charged twice for breakfast and also charged for slippers and robes we did not receive.

Unfortunately for me I didnt get the opportunity to stay at the hotel due to simple minded reservation staff whose primary objective seems to be to get the caller off the line as quickly as possible - no doubt to get back onto FB or IG asap. When said staff did deem me worthy of their time it was to offer half-baked, ill informed and incorrect information!
I couldn't get to the hotel due to heavy snow so contacted them directly to see if I could move my booking to a week later, . The staff member advised me it wouldn't be a problem, but that I should email / message via the booking.com website. This I did the same day, but didn't get a reply. I messaged again (via the site as instructed) the next day, but again no response. I emailed 3 days later and again no reply. All I wanted was a yes / no or advice on how best to proceed..
The hotel is now fully booked and I have been charged for a room I didn't use. I managed to get through to them on the phone today and the reservations desk were as unhelpful as Basil Fawlty and couldn't have cared less! I used to stay here a lot in the past and was looking forward to do so again, but if the reservation staff attitude is a reflection of the service and standards of the hotel in general - I have probably dodged a bullet.
For clarification I spoke to 3 different people in reservations and none of them were particularly helpful. After originally being advised to contact them through the wbe site (I did) I was later advised (after the event - it was too late) to make the changes via B.com. They'd taken my money by then so the attitude changed.
The last person i spoke to couldn't get rid of me fast enough and wasn't at all interested in my plight. She wasn't interested in rebooking or helping in any way with the issue.
After the phone rang out for the third time after 2 minutes over the course of an hour you wonder if anyone is actually manning the phones - it was 2.30 - 3.20 so not exactly busiest time - The reservation staff attitude was shockingly bad! They really didn't care about anything and certainly not me or my concerns.

We got married here in May 2022 and love the hotel! Never had a bad experience with this hotel. Visited many times at different times of the year and are booked again for August.
Only one observation, the room. On opening the door there was a metal spiral staircase up to the room. Room was still good but a little odd! Personal view, but I'd rather not have that room again.

Good food
Internet and signal non-existent. If your on business don't bother. The Wi-Fi is pretty useless

very well decorated and clean
We felt the bathroom could have been better stocked for 2 people occupancy.

Palm court was exceptional.
Our room was not what we paid for, or what booking.com advertised. No skysports in room, no tv in bathroom. Ordered Champagne for arrival, but were given prosecco

well decorated in general , palm court restaurant food very good
swimming pool etc poor - especially when compared to fab spa etc. executive room but no robes available and towels very poor quality. told I’d have to go back to reception and pay extra - not what you expect when you upgrade. worst was night when very noisy - banging on n doors and creaky floorboards above very loud all night - worst nights sleep in a while. all raised with manager whilst I was there.

lovely room, great amenities, staff were very attentive.
