I liked that it was in an excellent location, had working air-conditioning, and was very affordable. The staff was very friendly and tried their best to help, though none of them spoke much English.
The staff informed me that there wouldn't be wi-fi in the rooms and that I would have to go to the ground floor (which was hot and had very little room to sit) if I needed wi-fi. I selected this hotel because it was listed as having wi-fi and I needed to do work on my computer in my room. Luckily, the ground floor wi-fi did work in my room. But it would've caused me a lot of problems if I didn't have wi-fi in my room, so make sure you check with the hotel about that ahead of time if you plan to rely on it.
Also, you couldn't flush toilet paper down to the toilet, which is not what I expect of plumbing in a developed country.

The 2nd floor room was a bit crowded with 3 beds? but workable and overlooked the square and river. The windows blocked out all sound at night. Beds were firm and comfortable. This is an old building but the amenities were updated. Nice clean bathroom.
Entry desk was not manned on arrival. There is a small push button to alert the staff. No elevator.
A nice housekeeper (no English) contacted someone who did speak a bit of English to get me checked in.

Wonderful location with a great bed! Her hot water and water pressure was instant, the best in Europe, and she even had a shower mat in the shower so you won’t slip! Great value. The room was as nice or even nicer than some 3 star places we have stayed at. We had a view of the square with a narrow balcony, so
nice to let the breeze in!
Nothing, it was a wonderful place to stay!

great location, and helpful staff
was a bit small

The facilities are quite simple and furniture may be outdated. However, it is very good quality for money.
Everything was clean and the mattresses were quite good. The staff is very friendly and try to help where you may need.
Location is just perfect.
Nothing that can be done about it. But the only thing less great is the fact there is no lift. But fine if you know ahead and can ask for a room in a lower level if needed.

Basic hotel on perfect location
Very clean
Beds are extremely hard , so beware
Some people might like hard mattresses, but too extreme for us

Perfect location, central but no noise at all when you close the window, nice building and room, friendly staff, all that you need!
The bed was really hard

The hotel is smack bang in the where to be of Coimbra making the location beyond excellent. There is 24 Hour reception and although the staff speak limited English are very friendly and helpful. The room although dated in still very cozy, clean and of a decent size with a working AC. I requested a room with a 'balcony' and they duly obliged. Thus I recommend you give it a shot as although very small has a great view to start and end the day. If one arrives by train (go to COIMBRA not COIMBRA B) the hotel is only a 5 min walk away on level ground which is great.
The hotel only accepts cash . There is no lift but my room was on the 1st floor so didn't have any issue. The bed although double is on the small side.

Very clean, simple, traditional hotel with a great location and views over the river. The staff are kind and helpful.

The hotel is facing a cute little square on the edge of the town. My main purpose to visit Coimbra was to go to Conimbriga so I didn't want to stay on top of the hill near the university. So, for me, the location was perfect. You could still walk to the university (about 10 min walk) and it's only a few minutes walk from the town center. It's basic, nothing fancy, but it has everything you'd need. The staff was also very nice and helpful.

Extremely nice and friendly receptionist. Location is perfect - lots of cafes and restaurants nearby; the train station and all sights within walking distance. Nice view from the window. Cozy old world atmosphere.
Nothing really serious. A bit too few electric plugs by modern standards. Just one blanket for two persons - we ended up pulling it on ourselves in the night.

Centrally located. Clean simple and very kind friendly staff. English speaking hostess. So wonderful. Great for 1-3 nights. Basic but very clean and well maintained. Definitely would stay here again!!

Our room was twin beds, our choice for a change, and BOTH were very comfortable. We also were on the 1st floor and had a small balcony overlooking the square and the river.
Helpful staff and very clean
The bathroom is a bit smaller than many, quite a squeeze beside the shower and the toilet
