Very nicely furnished bedroom and large well finished bathroom. Comfy bed. High quality tea and coffee choices in the room.
Breakfast on the first day - 'Eggs Royale' with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce - was delicious. On the second morning the kitchen's extractor fan was being repaired so the choices were limited. We still had most of a full English, yet they offered to take breakfast cost off our bill. A fine gesture that wasn't necessary.
The Dinner menu isn't fine dining but is certainly a cut above your average pub fayre. For example, their nicoise salad is made with hot smoked trout and a very good dressing.
As a Butcombe Inn the beer in the pub was a favourite of mine and well kept.
Staff were all welcoming friendly and attentive.
Wine seemed a little expensive but the ones we had were good.
The only criticism I'd have is the wi-fi and TV in the room. It wasn't possible to tune in to terrestrial channels to watch the news for example. Yet you can access Netflix and Prime TV.
Wi-fi didn't work at all in the room we were in, but it was fine in the pub.

Beautiful location, great country pub and staff friendly. They sorted us a place for our evening meal.
Room was v hot and difficult to cool down. Staff shortage meant no evening meal or cooked breakfast.

Clean, tucked away with nice pub, beautiful setting in the back
Kitchen closed too early on a Sunday and not open on Monday so we weren’t able to enjoy the pub

This place is really lovely rooms fab. Location great highly recommend this little gem.
We arrived Sunday evening at 7pm really looking forward to having some food in the pub which came highly recommended after a long day to be told no food as Sunday is very quiet in the country.... so had to travel elsewhere for dinner. Think they need to tell visitors this otherwise would not have booked. If you not staying Sunday do go there as it looks grt.

Easy and quick check in
Room was quite cold and heater not that straight forward to use

Not much.
Rooms full of flies. Caotic service. Starter very taste, price £13.75 for a small slice of sourdough and crab meat, mostly bulked out radishes. No management direction to be seen within the restaurant. This is not a 5 star establishment. £580 for 3 nights will not be back. This is by no means of some of the staff ,who lacked experience with no management direction.

Quite easy to find, park and then book in. Food was reasonable.
The route to the rooms above the pub went past the area where the kitchen had decided to leave their bins. Not visually very attractive but not a great problem in cold weather - probably not going to be a great experience when it gets hotter. The metal staircase to the rooms was unlit and my wife needed to negotiate very carefully. The hot tap in the bathroom would not fully turn off - apparently a plumber had been called but had developed Covid.

Breakfast choices were very good
We could not book table in pub for evening we arrived, they were fully booked, I feel this should have been offered at time of confirmation. We had to drive into nearest town, which meant we couldn't drink

Fabulous food, cooked to order.
Nothing.
