Amanda and her mother Maida could not have been more helpful. Very convenient location and many thoughtful extras.

Really close to town centre and easy to get around. Smooth check-in and easy to find room. Continental breakfast in room making you able to stick to your own schedule for breakfast which was lovely.

Amanda was a perfect host and really friendly and gave us lots of information about Shetland. Breakfast was a continental one which came in a hamper and was replenished daily which contained pancakes, jam, croissant, Madeira cake, flapjack, cereal, sweet waffle, yogurt, orange juice, fresh milk, butter and a porridge pot, there was also a toaster, microwave and coffee/hot chocolate machine, the location of the guest house was perfect, 2 mins from the towns main street, furnishing of the room was lovely, shower was powerful with water jets and it was a big cubicle. as first timers in a guest house we were delighted and will definitely go back.
nothing we didn't like as it was perfect.

Clean, comfortable and very welcoming host.
Breakfast baskets were great idea and more than enough to get you going in the morning.

If Norlande was a Hollywood movie, I would say it had the highest production values! Amanda's communication was excellent, which I valued during a very erratic journey to Shetland for a funeral.
The room was beautifully decorated and had everything I needed. It was a well positioned room, with a great bathroom and facilities, especially the monsoon shower with built-in radio.
The bed was so comfortable, better than any of the big brand places, and I slept so well.
The breakfast hamper was a delight and had more than enough supplies and snacks, which kept me going at breakfast and even at night at the end of a long day.
The location is just 8 mins walk from Commercial Street and the main strip with its bars, restaurants for lunch and dinner, and for the shops too The Isleburgh Community Centre, Town Hall, and new library are all a short walk away.
A taxi from the ferry to Norlande cost £4.50 with Allied Taxi (book ahead!), or you could walk in 15 mins on a drier day - they DO happen 😆
Amanda herself is very hospitable and welcoming. I would recommend Norlande any day.
Nothing, everything was I needed

The bed was super comfy, facilities in the room were really well thought out. There was a set of hair straighteners as well as a hairdryer! Wow! There was a microwave, kettle, toaster, and a brilliant coffee machine. The shower lit up and played music- good pressure too! Loved it.
Nothing.

The location was great, we parked easily on the street. The room was well appointed, with everything we needed (kitchenette, ensuite). Continental breakfast supplies were most welcome and lasted us all day!

Thanks for driving us to the harbour :-)

Like many reviewers I'm going to add that staying at the Norlande is an unusual, but still a highly recommended, experience. The Norlande is a guest house rather than a hotel. Our 'Northern Lights' room, on the first floor, had a four poster bed, a 40 inch 4K TV, a coffee pod machine, fridge, microwave, toaster, iron, hairdryer etc. The bathroom came equipped with a wet-room style shower with massage jets (pictured). There was a sofa to relax on, and although the room was a bit cramped with all of these items, it was still very comfortable.
I don't think we have every stayed in cleaner accommodation, it was spotless and everything looked new.
Breakfast is provided in a basket in your room which is topped up everyday along with milk in the fridge along with butter and jam for toast. I've posted a picture of the breakfast bar and the basket. There is no 'breakfast room' or cooked breakfast. We took some of the items with us on excursions and made them into lunch with the help of some extra cheese. Once criticism is that most of the items are sugary rather than savoury.
You do not generally come into contact with the owners. The room is cleaned everyday and the breakfast replenished while you are out.
Compared to the prices of other accommodation, the Norlande is outstanding value and its location on a residential street, 6 minutes walk from the town, it excellent. Parking is free on the street and there was no problem finding a space.
The breakfast items were all a bit sugary and largely carbohydrate. The room was a bit hard to move around in once your cases were on the stand.

Breakfast was very good.....and room was comfortable. Great location
The photo on the Booking.com website wasn't the hotel...which was disconcerting when we arrived as it didn't look like what we were expecting..

Of all the guest houses and b&b's I've stayed in this was the nicest room I ever had. I found the host to be very friendly and welcoming.

Breakfast was offered on the room with kettle and small fridge and a basket with different items. Totally ok but only fresh items were milk and yogurt. No complaints though.
Room was very warm when the outdoor temperature was up.

What did you like? Everything!! What a brilliant spot! Amanda (the owner) was lovely and incredibly kind/helpful! The room was cosyand had all I needed. It was the most wonderful stay and I find myself looking at the calendar hoping for a break to come back soon. Couldn't recommend it highly enough! Thank you so much! I hope to be back soon!
Honestly couldn't fault a thing!

Breakfast was exceptional. When they clean your room they give you it in an hamper so you have it for the next day. There was enough to snack on through the day too. Microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine all in room. Ideal location right in the heart of lerwick
Nothing this is the best b and b I have ever been to

Hostess was excellent, i was early arrival and she went right out her way to have my room ready for me a little earlier than check in to accommodate me after long trip over. Room was amazing, clean, lovely shower and big bed and tv. Would highly recommend. Great value for money. 5* and 10/10
Il book this place in advance next time im up 😀
Nothing disliked great place to stay. Would like to thank hostess for her help. Superb room and amenities.

Although small the room was finished to a high standard and the coffee machine was of a very high quality.
Having to go down two flights of steps for the bathroom is not great. Having double checked I see this is mentioned in the listing. I obviously missed it as I would not have booked had a known. The bathroom also smelt like a blocked drain and the room was the smallest single I have ever had. There is no signage outside the property so you feel slightly nervous ringing the bell.

The room was well designed and had everything I needed. The breakfast hamper offers plenty of choice and the mini fridge is useful.
Amanda is really friendly and helpful.
The bathroom is on the ground floor- but I was aware of this and it wasn't a problem.

Location, parking facilities, comfortable bed, fancy shower, ample facilities in room, clean. Unusual breakfast. Friendly helpful host
Blind did not keep out the light so wakened with the sun. Could have done with more savoury items in breakfast hamper

Small, but well provided for. I slept like a babe each night. Breakfast was always there for the morning in a basket. Wi-fi, TV. Bathroom downstairs, but private for me.
Maybe some instructions on how to run the coffee maker. I couldn't get it going. I made the tea instead.

This is a beautiful and well maintained old home in Lerwick. The room was perfectly clean and comfortable. There is a small fridge in the room and it is stocked with milk, orange juice, yogurt, and similar food items to have for breakfast. During our 2 day stay we never actually met a person from the guest house since on arrival we called the number at the door and was given an access code to use to enter the home.
This is a very quiet and safe area, near the top of the main hill where the town is located. It was easy to walk to great restaurants and things to see and visit, but you should be aware that the town is on a rather steep hill and so if you are walking impaired then you may need to drive to some locations. We are in our 60s and were able to walk everywhere we needed in Lerwick. Parking was free and close and exploring Shetland is easiest if you have a car to drive to the many interesting sites on the islands.
We would stay at this same house again when we are in Lerwick. This was a great location for a central place to stay while driving each day to more distant parts of the main island to visit.

Very convenient base for Shetland exploration. It was comfortable I had everything I needed and felt at home. Amanda and co very helpful.
I would have liked some savoury breakfast options. I am not a fan of jams, etc, but the cafes were close by, so not a shoestopper

Breakfast was provided in the room each day. there was plenty of choice, including toast, waffles, fruit juice so we could have as much or as little as we wanted at whatever time. We were late arriving because of plane delay but Amanda made sure we had everything we needed. location was a very short walk from the centre of Lerwick and parking easy. Everything was spot on.

Perfect location. Easy parking. Super friendly and helpful owner - the perfect host.
Loved the kitchenette allowing the use of fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave.
Gorgeous bedroom and bathroom with everything you needed.
Blackout blinds/curtains would have been useful for us as we are not accustomed to long, light days stretching well into the night.

Welcomed like family
As fully booked, could stay only one night.

Great location. Not far from town. Parking no problem.
No information received prior to check in. No one there when we arrived. Phoned owners who advised it was non hosted property. Gave us code for door and told us where room was. No issue but would have been good to be advised of check in method and access prior to arrival.
Room great although not sure if there was a problem with the bathroom as stale water smell both mornings

The room was lovely and could not be faulted. it was clean, comfortable and spacious. The room had a fridge, microwave and coffee machine. Norlande was easy to find and street parking is available directly outside.
I did not like the breakfast arrangements. A hamper was provided each day but there was no choice and the hamper had the same things in each day. I do not mind having breakfast in my room but in other places I've stayed I've ordered breakfast the night before and its been brought fresh to my room in the morning.
I only saw Amanda on the first day I was there

The room was beautiful, well equipped, nice neighborhood, and had everything we could have wanted. We would love to return!
