About this house rental
Escape the grind on this piece of Whidbey Island paradise.
Spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains and sunsets over Puget Sound. Private beach with no-bank access and ample watersport and sandy beach fun. Custom built home is perfect for couples and families, with ample indoor and outdoor space to play or relax.
Maxwelton Beach is one of the largest west facing beaches (i.e. perfect for sunsets) on Whidbey Island with long sand flats, tidal pools and miles of beach combing, clamming and crabbing opportunities. Just south of the house you can walk for miles along undeveloped and protected beaches. Right in front is perfect for playing in the sand, making drift wood forts or launching your kayak, canoe or paddle board. Also excellent for spotting wildlife - from bald eagles, osprey, seals, otters and even the rare orca.
Inside the custom built home, the open floor plan lends itself to sweeping views from the kitchen, dining and living rooms. Custom woodwork and natural beach rock fireplace lends warmth while the large open kitchen is well stocked for every culinary pursuit. The living room boasts a large leather couch and rocking chairs, perfect for watching your favorite movie or simply enjoying a crackling fire. There is also a kiddie play area with play kitchen, loads of duplo legos and various other toys.
Three bedrooms provide sleeping space for 6 guests. Upstairs, the spacious master bedroom overlooking the beach has a king bed, walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The room also acts as the perfect office, with a beautiful antique desk facing the beach. The peaceful downstairs bedroom has a queen while the addition bedroom upstairs is perfect for two children with a twin pull-out trundle bed. A separate bath is complete with tub & shower. The home also has free WiFi for guest use. Young families are very welcome; in addition to the multitude of children toys (including sand toys for the beach) and games, the house has a baby cot and high chair.
Outside, the large lawn area is great for ball games while the patio has a Webber propane grill, large outdoor tables with chairs, loungers and umbrellas. The back orchard has an abundance of apples & pears in late summer and autumn which guests are welcome to pick. Finally the beach, steps away has a fire pit, perfect for roasting marshmallows and making smorzes as you watch the sun slowly set over Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains beyond. Truly a slice of heaven for all the senses.

Great house, perfect setting!

This is our favorite vacation rental on Whidbey....perfect location and the house is comfortable and spacious. We appreciate being able to bring our dog. Thank you to our hosts for sharing ❤️

What a dreamy place with modern but warm beachhouse, clean, super handy to beach which is Twenty flat steps from the door. Roomy and very functional kitchen. We entertained for 13 for dinner one afternoon but had 6 in our party 2 granparents, 2 parents, and two 6 an 8 yr old active boys. Miles of beach with few people We will be back

Nice and spacious, very clean and wonderful location! Great for a family.

Everything about our stay was perfect. The house was as advertised; clean, spacious, comfortable, and accommodating.
The master bedroom is large and the balcony makes it an ideal position to see the amazing sunsets.
It is located at the southern end of Maxwelton Beach, which means there are times you have the entire beach to yourself.
The outside seating was plentiful and the grill was clean and ready to use.
We will definitely return.

Overall, very happy with our stay. Fantastic beach location with amazing views. The kids had a very fun time playing on the beach. The house itself was in good condition. However, some the furniture needs updating or replacement. For example, some of the kitchen table chair backs were loose and need repair. The main living room couch is very worn and uncomfortable. Usable but at this price point I would have expected a bit nicer things. Don't get me wrong, we would stay again but want to give honest feedback and perhaps the owner will consider future upgrades. It needs it.

This is the second time we have stayed we like this location and house so much.
Host is wonderful to work with. House has a lot of nice touches not normally found in a rental such as puzzles, games, plenty of dishes and cooking utensils and the view and beach out the back door is incredible!

We totally enjoyed our mid-May visit to the Whidbey Island West Facing Beach House. The home was spacious, clean and nicely furnished, with an easy kitchen to cook in and all-day beautiful views with easy access to a good walking beach.
The small touches like the gift basket and good binoculars at the ready make us feel very welcome. One day home and feeling grateful for our brief time there, we already look forward to our next visit.

This is a wonderful place to stay! It was perfect for a toddler. Large open areas in the house, lots of toys, and grassy yard. The beach is stunning and wonderful to walk/play. Got to see lots of eagles everyday! I appreciate how kid and dog friendly this house is. We will be back for sure!!!

This is our second stay in a few months. Love everything about the property. Super excited to see new plush carpet on the entire upstairs! Apparently, there will be hardwood downstairs soon. We love how you walk out to the beach in a few steps. Our dog loves the ocean so it's perfect for us. We will be back. To the person who complained about "rat poison". It's a black box that is hard to get into and under the porch completely out of the way. Your dog will be safe. :)

Everything we needed for a grand four night stay. Fantastic location on a quiet street. Beach was wonderful and eagles were regular visitors.

The view and beach make it amazing. I brought my dog and the owner knew it and finding mouse poison upon entering on the ground was NOT ok. To my family she is part of us. Had she gotten it, you would be receiving an entirely different message. It started the stay out on a huge negative at the sheer lack of care of others.

We loved our stay in Maxwelton even though the weather was cold and stormy. It was fun to watch the storms roll in from the incredible view. The house was clean, spacious and comfortable. David was easy to communicate with. We highly recommend this house.

Comfortable, spacious house, well supplied kitchen and baths, lovely view and a perfect beach for long, scenic walks. A great spot for a dog — ours loved it.

We are partial to Maxwelton Beach and have stayed at a different house further down. There is something special about it. You can walk for miles when the tide is out. The views are spectacular. What this house has going for it is the super easy walk to the beach--no large steps. There are sweeping views from every room. You can brush your teeth and look out across the water! The house is almost at the end of all the homes, so if you take a left, you can walk alone with nothing but trees, sand, and water—a perfect escape from reality. Everything was well-stocked and comfortable. It is not a modern home, yet it was just what we needed. The downstairs carpets have large rips in them and the pink carpet in the master has large stains. It would be awesome if the carpets got replaced. When given the chance to go back to the luxury home or this one, we chose this one. There's just something special about it.

What a gem! This location is second to none and the home is spacious, clean and just seconds from the beach. We were treated to herons, sand dollars, crabs and even porpoises on our beach walks and felt lucky to be able to borrow such a special property.

Our family (3 couples) enjoyed this spacious, well-equipped beach home. Some of our "favorites" included the panoramic views of Puget Sound, sandy beach walks, brilliant sunsets, and bird watching.
The indoor living spaces were very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and bake.
The fenced yard was peaceful and private.
Our host was kind and responsive when we had questions.
We had a delightful stay!

This spacious, well-appointed home offers charming maritime decor, immediate beach access, and breathtaking views. The back deck and master bedroom balcony are both wonderful spots to enjoy a book and a bottle of wine while you take in the scenery. Our dog loved lounging in the back yard after a good long play in the ocean. And there's nothing quite like going to sleep to the sound of waves.
We regularly saw deer and all manner of seabirds and other wildlife during our walks on the quiet, dead-end street. And the gentle slope of the shoreline presents an abundance of tide pools to explore -- we spotted starfish, sand dollars, crabs, and more.
In terms of nearby amenities, there's not much in walking distance other than a playground up the street (which I'm sure we'd have gotten a lot of use out of had we brought kids). If you have a car, this house is very well situated, a short drive to groceries, restaurants, galleries, a great off-leash dog park (Double Bluff beach), etc. Take the speed limit seriously, though -- the speed bumps along the 5mph section approaching the house are in a bit of disrepair, and might knock your undercarriage a bit if you don't take them carefully.
The property manager is helpful, accommodating, and very responsive to questions. And the house is extremely comfortable. Be sure to try the generously provided local coffee!
We had a lovely time and look forward to visiting again.

We loved our stay at this comfy beach house. We especially enjoyed the excellent location in a peaceful community, the big private yard, and the easy access to a great beach. Our dog was in heaven!! The house is very roomy and had everything we needed. A big thank you to our hosts for sharing this beautiful property with us!

We enjoyed our stay at this Maxwelton beach house on Whidbey Island. The views and easy beach access were marvelous. We enjoyed the beauty of high tide and loved the access to the beach, low tide, and sand bars for wading, exploration and making sand castles.
The beach house is charming and comfortable. It is also well equipped. We were all happy to be there.
Two negatives: We had an ant infestation in the kitchen we needed to deal with; and it’s time to replace the worn and stained Berber carpet.

It is a lovely house on a quiet street, perfect for relaxing. We were there for my partner's birthday and had a very nice time. Beautiful sunsets!

What a wonderful, quiet, relaxing, dog friendly beach retreat with ample, open space and a room on the first floor to accommodate aging parents. Perfectly situated on Whidbey to stay put or venture out and explore the island.

This property has a wonderful view, spacious living space, and an exceptional kitchen for preparing family meals! The furnishings are comfortable, very eclectic, and funky in an interesting way. There are games and lots of kid stuff, including a nice grassy side yard for play!
We had a great time away with our family and love the beach!!!

This was the most wonderful home I've rented for my dog and me! We've been to a handful of beach houses, but this is our favorite.
The location was more than fabulous. Walk out the door and onto the beach, head south to a practically deserted (in March, at least) beach on Land Trust property. The home had everything we needed, including the best stocked pantry of any VRBO I've rented. Numerous cooking oils, vinegars, herbs, spices, salts, etc made cooking so easy. The kitchen was very well supplied with everything I needed. Books galore and children's activities filled the shelves. Since we were only a few houses from a dead end, it was very peaceful and quiet. The large grass yard was very nice for my dog.
The stunning view is SO relaxing! I love the openness of the floor plan so you can see the view from everywhere in the house, except the 2 smaller bedrooms. The master suite is fabulous.
If you bring your dog, Marguerite Brons Memorial Off-Leash Park is just down the road a bit and has a small off-leash forest next to the open play area. We also LOVED going to Greenbank Farms. They have a wonderful huge off leash dog area and forest trails to hike! Met very nice people and my dog was in heaven. It’s not overcrowded like many of the Seattle dog parks. It’s a puppy paradise!
David, the owner, was very easy to communicate with, which I always appreciate.
We will be back!

The property is waterfront with a 180 degree western view of the water and the mountains. We experienced our first ever snow with sun shine. It was cold, but we were warm in a well heated home with a fireplace insert that burns wood. The house is great for our family of 4. Everyone had their own room. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your meals. The grocery store is close. Don't miss the Whidbey Bagels just up the road. We always look forward to staying in David's home. He communicates quickly if you need to get in touch. This is our third stay, and we look forward to returning soon. Don't look any further, just book it. You will not be disappointed.

David is a great host and the house was perfect for us with three adults two kids and a dog on quiet maxwelton beach. I have stayed here three times this year and truly love be being here.

This VRBO is beachfront property on a double lot. My husband and I could walk straight out to the beach to enjoy the sunset and long walks in both directions. Need I say more?
The online photos represented this property accurately and the place was well laid out and clean.

We spent a magical 3 weeks in this lovely cabin. The location couldn't be better. The spaciousness, backyard and beach, well equipped kitchen and game shelves meant there was something for everyone at every point during the day. I was able to WFH while staring out at the incredible views. We caught up with PNW friends and family we haven't seen since 2018. Can't wait to return!

Perfect Spot for Family Trip
We had a great time at this home! It was on a pretty secluded beach. While it was a busy weekend and you could tell most the surrounding homes were occupied, it still felt very intimate. Our pup was in absolute heaven and our 11 month old son enjoyed all the new toys at the home.
The kitchen has all the basics, plus some. Additional spices were nice to have so we didn't have to pack everything from home making it easy for us to cook. Since it was rainy we didn't use the grill, but they had a good weber right off the deck.
Host was very communicative when needed. Had a great time and will definitely return!
