We loved staying at the Villas. Private onsen 1 outside and 1 inside. Huge room for two of us. Quiet and welcoming. Enjoyed the traditional japanese breakfasts and dinners.

Bellissima struttura antica collocata nel verde. Camera spaziosa e con tutti i comfort. Vasca onsen in camera meravigliosa! Tutto pulito e funzionante. Kimono a disposizione e ciabatte in camera da usare in hotel. Cena e colazione ottime.

Just beautiful and fun
4.3
The possibility of the private onsen on every villa
4.3

Wonderful place, great staff, beautiful onsen... Overall a great Ryokan experience. Take 15 minutes to enjoy the museum, the place is full of history.
Our room private bath was half empty so basically unusable.
The dinner is correct but not up to what you can expect in similar places. Shabu-shabu is fun but there's not much cooking, and usually for theses prices and places your get a gastronomic kaiseki experience which is frankly another level.

Private Onsen
Everything was perfect

4.3
Room was clean and tidy
Bath tub was a bit dirty

The beds are comfortable and sheets are clean . The public onsen was not crowded.
Breakfast was good.
It smelled like mold and was overpriced. They were nice enough to switch us from "vegetarian" because that meal was an odd replica of the traditional meal (instead of a meatless meal). Dinners took a very long time (but some people like that).
I also thought all the rooms had private onsen but ours didn't.
They claim checked our shoes on the way in.
I think the staff didn't like us.

Breakfast excellent and location very hard to find for novice older travelers to Japan. Could have appreciated more advise how to get to the location.

4.3
Friendly and polite staff. Great atmosphere and very relaxing. Firefly watch at night and one hr drinks were an added bonus!
It can be a little cleaner around the Onsen area. There were some rust and dirt.
4.3

What a wonderful opportunity to stay in a beautiful traditional Japanese inn. We loved the atmosphere and the history of this ryokan. The care and attention of all the staff was first class. We especially liked the evening meal, the onsen and the firefly tour.
Nothing, everything was great
4.3
Le petit-déjeuner est très copieux. C'est un petit déjeuner uniquement japonais
4.3

Outside and inside private onsen. Beautiful environment and staff overall nice. Free shuttle bus to go to the main station.
Considering the price, we were quite disappointed by:
- the service. Staff is nice but not trained. There are only stairs at the entrance and nobody to propose to carry our heavy luggages, nor on our arrival, nor on our departure. There is a service to transfer luggages from this hotel to the next one that we were told by other clients of the hotel and not the staff. Consequently, when we asked for the service in the morning of our departure, it was apparently too late as they answered that our luggage could be sent only the day after, so that we would receive them only in two days... Not enough explanation on the food and how to eat, especially for the breakfast (presentation of the plates, in which order to eat the different ingredients and how,...)
- the food. Considering the price, we were expecting higher quality menu. Ingredients seemed good but not cooked. We had to cook ourselves in a big pot, so it was really minimal cooking for them. Breakfast was not really tasty.

I liked how much it felt like home. I liked the warmth and cleanliness. It was all around enjoyable.
Nothing

I stayed in a private villa with a private onsen and it was almost magical. From the building itself to the nature the entire ryokan is nestled around. It was all stunning. They especially loved how someone showed me to my villa and showed me around while waiting to answer any questions I might have. I can’t wait to stay here again.
4.3
Private bath both indoor and outdoor.
Traditional Japanese interior.
The blossom tree outside the villa.
Plenty of food although I didn't enjoy everything.
Facilities seemed really old.
The villa was far away from the main building which is where you have to go for all the meals which had to be at specific times.
Expensive.
No clear signs for shuttle bus.
4.3
It is a traditional Ryokan experience, with lovely staff, great food, nice villas
Frankly the location is not great, and the value for money is not great either. It is not easy to get to (because the bus system is very inefficient, I would say the only inefficient experience in Japan. On the last day we almost missed our train as the bus never came and there were no taxis. Frankly it ruined the whole experience.
4.3
Excellent location, very easy to get too via tozan bus. The staff were exceptionally kind and professional, they also provided a vegetarian meal for my partner and we really appreciated that. The room was amazing and the private onsen was phenomenal. The area around it was also fantastic for short hikes, chisuji falls was a highlight.
4.3
Beautiful property, generous and exceptional dinner and breakfast service. The private onsen inside and outside was perfect for us.
Nil.
4.3
Amazing place to get totally relaxed. The private onsen was a real treat and the beds extremely comfortable. We slept really well.
Some of the food was an acquired taste, especially breakfast, but all part of the authentic Japanese experience.
Some more guidance on wearing the traditional robe and jacket as first timers would've helped but didn't detract from the experience.
4.3
Historic property, romantic, interesting
4.3
tutto: posizione, accoglienza, ambiente rilassante, cena e colazione top.
4.3
a wonderful ryokan in traditional Japanese style, incredible breakfasts and dinners that will delight you! very friendly hosts, cozy room. I had a room with a private onsen and it was a great stay. The hotel also has a shared onsen, but I found the water in it hotter than in the private one. The rooms have everything you need; they provide slippers, yukatas, bathrobes, and socks. the appearance of ryokan is great
I stayed at the end of March and it was very cold in the room. I turned on the air conditioning at 30 degrees and warmed up with onsen and sake :)
4.3
We love the open air onsen and the layout of the room. Love the fact every window has a view looking at the lushes of green
The food was a huge disappointment. They serve hot pot every night. They basically ask you to cook your own food and the ingredient is not fresh. The starter were not impressive at all. Almost look like they got their food from family mart. They serve cheap cheese and cheap cold cut on salad on our 2nd night. I have never experience this in an expensive ryokan. All the food they serve were either processed or pre cooked. Minimal work for their kitchen. Perhaps they are thinking the westerners would not know the difference since more than half of the guests are western tourist. But I’m Asian and my partner is from Canada. So I know Japanese food very well. Last, the staff at the restaurant were lack of training. They do not understand the food they serve. One staff I spoke to only work they for a month and most cannot speak English since 80% of the guest are foreigners.
4.3
