Atmosfæren, beliggenhet, roen og nydelig middag. Jeg ble overrasket over design og arkitektur og Álttájohka- Altaelva

Hotellissa kaikki toimi. Erittäin hyvä ja rauhallinen huone. Iltaravintola tasokas. Tavallaan normaali aamiaisvalikoima, mutta erittäin laadukkaat raaka-aineet.

The Ice hotel is very unique. Beautiful ice and snow sculptures throughout as well as 5 uniquely designed rooms. We also stayed in the Artic Lodge in their "regular" rooms. The rooms were extremely comfortable with beautiful views of the Alta River and surrounding areas. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food was extraordinary as well at both Maku and Lavuu. The ice hotel room was obviously cold, but they supply sleeping bags that keep you warm and toasty. Bring a wool hat to sleep with so your head doesn't get cold.
The cost was pretty expensive, but most of our experience in Norway was expensive. I think that's just the way it is, so be prepared. Overall, it is a unique experience that is frankly worth the cost.

The lodge is stunning and designed with high finishes. the glass floor to ceiling windows in the room are such a delight. The activities I went on (all bar one) were all amazing and well guided and so much fun, the guides were all really nice.
Beakfast was very basic and not what I expected of a hotel of this standard and price bracket.
I thought some staff to be little 'brusque' and unfriendly. I asked for a kettle in my room for tea and was told to use the Nespresso machine without a pod. I specifically requested a room with a bath, and this was not booked, I was so disappointed as there was no steam/sauna/jacuzzi facilities at the hotel! As this hotel was SO remote and with no transport you are kind of reliant on them to supply these things. At the very least have ready and available massage therapists to call in. The restaurant was a very mixed feeling. First 2 nights I had a la carte (just 3 options ONLY) if youre a vegetarian just the one option. I was told this menu changes every few months. Third night I booked in for a tasting menu. Fourth night was told there was no a la carte options from that day and I had to a have 3/5 or 8 course tasting menu!! But I was due to go on a snow mobile that night so just couldn't eat that much. Over the course of my 4 days it was training days for many new staff. It was my very special birthday out there and I felt little to no effort was offered on their part. Their activities were very confusing and pricing and times were so varied I suggested a board for the customers to peruse and book themselves on ( I was told next week). There was a big problem with one expedition to see reindeer and Sami culture. There were 3 of us booked on and we each paid £150, we were all told that it was a reindeer sleigh ride so didn't think we booked onto the right thing, when I questioned at check - out I was met with a lot of hostility from Raphael. We were there for 1 hour and had a chat with Sami person then had coffee, there was absolutely no way this should have cost £150.

The location and views are beautiful! The staff is great! From reception Christine and Hanna were so nice and helpful. From the restaurant Marie was wonderful and very attentive! The chef was friendly as well. The food and wine pairing amazing! The breakfast was set so pretty and so many great options. Can’t wait to go back! The bed was very very comfortable! And the view of the river from the room priceless!

We liked everything. Special thanks to Nikolas and Åre Marie, you are the best ! The hotel was so nice and the place is perfect.

Everything true to the photos.
Because of the location, it is difficult to eat anywhere that is not on-site, which is very expensive and very unhealthy. Very limited menu and options for vegetarians / dietary requirements is borderline, everything is heavily cooked in oils, butter, animal fats and rather small portions. Note, transport to and from the accomodation is also very expensive (up to $100 one-way).

I recently stayed at this hotel on the Alta River with my family and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff like Nicholas, Margret, Tonje, Josh, and Maya who went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location, with stunning views of the river and surrounding wilderness.
The facilities at the hotel are top-notch, with everything we needed to relax and unwind after a day of outdoor activities. We particularly enjoyed the sauna and hot tub, which were perfect for soothing sore muscles. The food at the hotel was also excellent, with a variety of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We appreciated the effort put into accommodating our dietary needs and preferences.
What really set this hotel apart, however, was the attention paid to families with children. The staff were incredibly friendly and patient with our kids, and went above and beyond to make them feel welcome. They provided extra snow suits and boots for the kids, which was very helpful, and even had a special menu with kid-friendly options. Our children loved playing in the snow and exploring the nearby forest, and we felt completely at ease knowing they were safe and happy.
Overall, we highly recommend this hotel on the Alta River for anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable getaway in Norway. The staff, facilities, and location are all top-notch, and the attention paid to families with children really made our stay special. We hope to return someday and experience it all again!
Can't think of anything.

- Room view and decor (modern and sophisticated)
- Friendly staff (we liked Hildegun? she’s amazing)
- Personalised surprise cake and amenities in the room (we really loved it and appreciate - thank you so much!!!)
- They booked us at the fine dining restaurant the whole stay for dinner so we did not have a choice to try the other one for dinner.
- No tours available during the stay
We are not blaming the staff because they explained as well that there was a big group in-house so we understand it was hard to fit us in. In terms of the tours, we also left it a little last minute so we didn’t have the tours we wanted available anymore due to once again the big group

Enjoyed our whole experience, well run lodge with a good choice of activities. Very relaxing. High quality facilities & efficient staff.
Meals a bit expensive, but it’s expensive all over Norway

Wonderful location. Even the small room was great and we could leave our luggage open on the floor. Food was great.
Mia from the reception team was extremely professional and kind, so was Asse Marie from the restaurant.
If you don’t mind being in the cold the whole day and are physically fit, we strongly recommend the full day husky tour.
Not all staff is on the same level of professionality. At checkin we were not told some of the most important basic things concerning the hotel.
Some Activities are definitely overpriced, mainly the Sami experience and Snowmobile. Doing northern lights tour is not necessary. When the weather is good, you will see them right in front of your hotel.
Though extremely well cooked, the possible dishes to choose from during dinner, are very limited. So after night 3 it gets a bit boring.

Beautiful lodge, variety of tours, stunning landscape and delicious meals
Could include complimentary transfers to Alta city , otherwise quite hard to access the city

The location is stunning and the extra fun of the Ice Hotel attached was great (although it would be nice for guests to be given complimentary access when staying - just build in the cost and let us think it's a free perk!) The beds were really comfortable and nice bedding. The ice fishing arranged by the hotel was fantastic, the snowmobile was good but seems unfair to charge a 14 year old that can't drive the same price as a driver when they can only sit on the back ... 12 years and under are much less. This seems a weird pricing policy.
The bathroom lets the standard rooms down - a silly sink not useful for shaving or washing your face ... more suited to a cloakroom in a bar or club, poor water pressure and small triangular shower - it would be lovely to have bath tubs in every room after a day in the freezing weather. Breakfast was pretty basic in comparison to hotels of a similar price per night.

We enjoyed a lot the stay in Sorrisniva. The staff was very kind and helpful. Also, the food was very good and the rooms very comfortable. The landscapes around the hotel are great. We loved the husky experience provided by Trasti og Trine. For sure we want to be back.
Sauna and Jacuzzi could be included in the price.

The fantastic staff who was extremely kind and genuine. Special mention to Agnate and Nikolas who were very attentive to our needs and solved our issues instantly. Even the kitchen chefs obliged and packed us a fulfilling early breakfast when we couldn't dine the next day due to an early flight. Exceptional service !
Missing television from the rooms. Would have loved to watch some Netflix in my cozy room with my wife and relax

This was our favourite place in Norway. Everything about it was wonderful. The staff were exceptional and they seem to genuinely love working there. Especially Vibeka, she was fantastic. Another staff member told me that when she arrives, it’s like the sun coming into the room.
The rooms are beautiful. They’re spacious, modern (it was opened Oct ‘21), clean, and had a gorgeous view overlooking the river.
The only thing I could possibly have an issue with is there is no a la carte menu for evening meals. It’s a set menu only.

Stunning views (even in winter) and excellent remote location for being in nature and viewing the Aurora away from town lights etc. Beautiful rooms and super comfortable beds. Food was exceptional, had 2 amazing dinners and they even offered to switch dishes for us (without asking) so menu wasn’t the same for both evenings. Activities organised by and provided by the hotel were professional and of a very high standard - the evening Sami experience with reindeer ride was fantastic and informative and even saw the northern lights on the way. We also booked a snowmobile tour but we’re early in the season (December 12th) and there wasn’t enough snow for the tour but the hotel went the extra mile and rearranged the tour with a different company for us so we didn’t miss out.
Small things as overall experience was great, but:
Everything had a price - in particular was very surprised to be charged to use jacuzzi/sauna for very expensive price of 840 NOK per hour. Would expect most hotels to include use of facilities like this. At least you could include a free half hour session with a stay or something and upgrade from there? Or include a glass of wine in the price?
Was difficult to know what tours to book in advance. They list everything on their website individually but would have been helpful to know ‘people who stay 2 nights usually do X, Y & Z’ etc or offer suggested packages. We had to be fairly proactive to research and request the options we wanted. You should book some tours as there is nothing much else to do at the hotel besides eat and lounge around.
Coffee in breakfast was just from a flask and wasn’t very nice but all rooms had Nespresso machines - I think either a Nespresso machine in breakfast buffet or waiter service for drinks in breakfast would improve the experience.
Also not huge issue but there was no turn down service in the evening which one might expect from a ‘luxury hotel’ and when the rooms were made up in the morning coffee cups weren’t replaced and the beds weren’t fully remade so felt this could be improved.

Very cozy hotel with a great architecture and beautifully decorated throughout . The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and so relaxing! (there’s a small learning curve for operating the light switches :))
