This house is well worth the money. Even better than the pictures. Location is very close to the beach, neighbors are quiet. Host is very attentive and easy to contact. Thank you for a great vacation!

We booked the home for my daughters 18th birthday based on the pictures and location. When we arrived at the house is was filthy! There was a foul smell when we opened the door and initially we didn't know where it was coming from and upon checking around we found the trash hadn't been taken out. Second, the bed linen hadn't been changed on any of the beds and was dirty. Third, there were condoms in the upstairs bedroom nightstand which is disgusting. Forth, the floors and sink in kitchen were both filthy. Fifth, there were no lights on the second floor bedroom and stairs , which is pretty dangerous considering you cant see. I reached out to the host and she sent 2 ladies that were there for about 40 min and to supposedly clean and didn't do anything other than change the linens and take out the trash because they had to go to another job per their words. The table chairs fabric was absolutely filthy and the host was supposed to send a cleaner and no one ever came and we couldn't sit at the table. I have pics of everything and would not recommend this location to anyone because it looks nothing like the pics, the host is terrible and house is filthy.

We loved our stay at this property. The private beach was fabulous and a short 5 minute walk from the house. The kitchen is well-equipped. The house did show some wear and tear; that's OK, as far as we're concerned. The woodwork in the house needs to be cleaned or repainted. I'll echo another review that commented on the dirty dining room chairs. A few other relatively minor issues with cleanliness. That said, there were plenty of towels and having a washer and dryer is a definite plus! The owner was very gracious and accommodating. We'd definitely stay here again.

We all had a wonderful time! The house was very comfortable for all of us! The neighborhood was beautiful! We loved the beaches with no vehicles.

Location was great and beach area was amazing.
However there were a few things that were difficult to manage.
The fridge and freezer are barely cold. Everything was melting. We checked the seals and adjusted to temperature with no success. The dishwasher only has a functioning top rack.
The mattresses on almost all of the beds are either deeply indented or, in the case of my room, not on a proper frame and keeps detaching and literally flipping us out of the bed if we dare sit in the edge. Also the bunk beds were completely unsafe. Not only did the top bunk bed on the first floor have no rails, both metal bunk beds upstairs were not only severely bowed, but were loose and shaking. Additionally the mattresses on the bunk beds were so thin you could feel every metal rail.
Two of the burners on the stove are not functioning. One has no stops and can turn freely if bumped which has resulted in the gas being turned on accidentally. The other will not attempt to light at all and will only spew gas if turned on.
Almost all of the furniture was stained and you could feel the springs and rails.
While the layout of the house was nice, and the location was great, the run down state of the house made things challenging, especially with children.

We loved the great location of this house out of the bustle/traffic of Galveston with a short walk to a not so busy portion of the beach!! The house had plenty of living space/rooms/beds for our family of 11, ranging in age from 2 to grandparents. The house had a few issues (one broken bed, broken bottom rack of dishwasher, very few cooking pots/pans) but overall we had a great week at Cake by the Ocean!

We arrived, opened the door and house smelled awful. There were several things that were broken, have repaired, dryer didn’t work. The kids bunk bed area had dirty sheets on the beds. Master shower had the spray head hanging, no where to hang it. Closet door was broken. The place needs an update — paint touch ups, furniture, etc. While we were there had to deal with a paint crew painting the outside. Workers cars parked in the driveway and we parked on the street. For the money, I would look elsewhere.

Had a great stay here. Loved this neighborhood! House was super clean and had great amenities. As a former host myself I really appreciated them supplying things like soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.

The house had smelled badly of cigarettes. It made our hair and clothes stink. We sat outside as much as we could, but that just made walking inside unbearable. The oven door was sticky and gross. There were no oven mitts to get food out of the oven. The sheets had stains on them. My husband went to buy blankets so we didn’t have to lay on the bedding. The dining room chairs were disgusting. There were watermelon seeds stuck to a couple of them. We sat on towels. For the price point, I guess I just thought it would be better. I’ve stayed in several VRBO’s and this was my first negative experience. I was embarrassed that we invited friends. The neighbors to the right of us had so many cars in the road people couldn’t get through. I’m talking 10+ cars and they were racing down the road at times. It was just a horrible stay.

Loved this cute neighborhood. House was big and well stocked. Having a kitchen was super nice since we love to cook meals. And the community has it's own beach walkover. We all had a blast!

We had a great experience with StayBeachBox and our stay at this large house. We had great space, privacy and access to the beach. The home was clean and accommodating, minus the one bed frame missing a support beam which causes one end to fall to the floor as mentioned in a previous review. Please fix that and there are no issues at all.

First time beach rental for our family. We all enjoyed our time plenty of room for all of of us. Loved that we can just walk to the beach. Would say the property needs a bit of touch of care on the outside nothing major. The basement or garage areadon’t go down there it’s a mess but we didn’t need to go in there anyways. It had everything that we needed. Everything looks pretty clean. I love that there was tape on the toilet, letting us know that they have been cleaned. Overall, I would stay here again,. Our family enjoyed our stay

Overall we had a good experience renting this property for a family reunion (5 children & 13 adults). Good location with a nice neighborhood. House was clean except for one nasty bath towel (not sure how that was missed). Bunk beds wobble & creak some but work. One bed has bowed support boards that should be replaced. Nice laundry room. Biggest issue was the instant hot water system that would cycle on and off making for a interesting shower experience. Service tech did come out promptly, but issue continued (we discovered that the greater the hot water demand the fewer issues, so have 2 showers going at the same time). Great room (kitchen, eating area & living room) was a wonderful space for everyone to gather.
2.0 / 5.0
This was a the most unpleasant stay especially considering the cost.
The house smelled of cigarette smoke. Buckets and trash cans were needed to catch the water in the bedroom and dining room dripping from the ceiling. Smoke detectors lacked batteries. Broken bed and leak rendered a bedroom useless. The downstairs outside area was filthy.
The house needs a lot of work. I would not recommend this rental.

Our family had a great time at this property and enjoyed the multiple rooms with different configurations of beds that allowed families to stay together! Would definitely recommend as a rental!

We had a great time at this property. It was as advertised on VRBO. Very clean and all appliances, including AC and hot water, were in very good order. An exterior shower would have been nice but a water hose sufficed to knock the sand off our feet, etc. More seating in family room and a better deck seating arrangement is suggested. Overall it was a wonderful house and wonderful trip! Thank you !

For the money this house is not worth it. Don't stay here till they fix things
The house stated that they could sleep 21 people, not true, this house could only sleep 8 at the most. The rest of the beds I wouldn't even consider real beds especially adults.
My grandkids called one room the orphanage if that tells you anything.
There are 3 bathrooms only one is a bathroom that really accommodates more than 2 people - one of the full bathrooms is the size of what you would use on a plane. If you weighted more than a slim person you couldn't fit in the shower.
The water in one of the bathroom sinks was a trickle at best and the repair man that they sent to the house to fix the railing said he couldn't really fix that.
The railing going up and down the stairs needs to be repaired, and to have rental people in a house with bad railing is ridiculous.
The trash was not empty when we got there, it was outside in the driveway where we parked - attacking flies.
We called the management company at least 5 times before someone finally came out to work on the railing. He did patchwork the railing since he was only prepared to do that. By the way, They never took care of the trash. And there was nothing we could do about the bedding. No extra towels or sheets, no extra blankets, or pillows.
You could not use the garage and if you did it was so dirty, there were spiders and discarded building material everywhere.
We spent almost 20,000.00 and it was for sure not worth it.

Acceptable, but too close to the road.

Awesome Beach Home
Really enjoyed our stay at cake by the ocean. House was big enough to accommodate all 16 of us with plenty of room. House had a great lay out. The 2 bedroom down stairs for parents and in laws and master suite upstairs was a plus for our group. Short walk to beach and didn't have to worry about beach being busy. Enjoyed it!!!!

Girls' Week Out
There were 8 of us. The house is relatively new. It was clean and well decorated. The only complaint we would have is that the street noise was LOUD! at night. I never realized there was so much traffic at 2 AM. one other note- bring your own condiments including salt and pepper, shampoo and bath soap They have only one small bar of soap per bathroom and the same for shampoo. I know it sounds like a small thing, but these are listed as furnished and there isn't enough for 8 people let alone 21. All in all a nice place, which is about two blocks from the water.
