The house was big enough for whole family. It was also in a great location. However, the locked bedroom doors were a big inconvenience and the carpeting was disgusting. So dirty. Did not like walking in it without shoes.
4.8
First the good: the house is indeed in a great location within an easy walk to the beach. It does have three dedicated parking spots which we were able to squeeze to accommodate four cars at times. It does sleep a ton of people and has very spacious common areas. It was nice that the deck grill is plumbed to gas taking away the worry of running out. The stocking of the kitchen with milk, juice, bagels and eggs was a nice touch. The owner was pleasant and responsive.
Now the not so good: this is a well-used house that has not been especially well loved. It is pretty shabby and grimy with bathroom grout that has not been properly cleaned and accumulations of grime in the kitchen. Kitchen is minimally stocked and completely disorganized and the cupboards and drawers are filthy. The carpet is badly stained in multiple areas giving it at least the appearance of being dirty. The beds are OK but not overly comfortable and the towels mismatched and worn. No kitchen towels despite two requests resulting in an Amazon delivery that arrived too late to launder and use. Free street parking impossible to find in this area. There were some obvious safety concerns including a bathroom electrical outlet that was falling out of the wall and secured with loose scotch. tape, and a gas pipe for the fireplace wrapped in electrical tape. Weird signage scrawled on scraps of paper and taped to the walls. With a little elbow grease and some proper maintenance this could be a really great place!

Place was awesome and perfect for our friend group of 12! Whole house rental totally worth it!

Many small details helped make our three day stay enjoyable. The kitchen came stocked with coffee, fresh fruit and other breakfast food. I enjoyed locally made art in the rooms. We had a cozy fire in the backyard firepit Everything was set up to let you spread out and enjoy relaxing time. There was a stereo with a turntable and a collection of vinyl records that we forgot to try out but thought was cool. The living room TV had four or five remote controls and I can not figure out how to get anything to play when that happens. It almost felt as though we were house-sititting for someone who has good taste and a spacious home. I'd be happy to come there with another group in the summer to enjoy the front porch.

Great place to stay, we had 10 people for a long weekend. Location is close to the red line, good restaurants close by, and really great communication with the staff. Super clean as well!

Upon arriving, front door code wasn’t working. They reset code and it worked. Also needed to reset door 2.
Smoke detector battery in room 5 was beeping in the middle of first night. . We took the battery out.
Enjoyed our stay.

Great location, a couple blocks from Lake Michigan. Great to have onsite parking. Since ice dispenser did not work would have been nice to have ice in the freezer. Host was very prompt in bringing water when bottles ran out. Very nice to have breakfast food items available. Lots of room for our family to eat and play games.

We had 8 adults staying and it was a great space. Near the beach and walking distance to coffee and some restaurants. It was about a 20 minute uber ride downtown so very convenient!

Very nice, large property. Kitchen was decent size and although we were able to make due with what was there as far as cooking supplies it could’ve been better. We were very comfortable at this location and it was a bonus to have 3 designated parking spaces and only a couple blocks from the beach.

Greenleaf House
Glad we had the whole property. Parking spots are a big bonus. House is a bit eclectic and outdated in the inside. Linens were fresh and clean. Overall cleanliness was appreciated. Definitely has a hostel vibe.

This place is absolutely incredible. The location is right by the water, but still close to the city. The home itself is extremely comfortable and clean. Everything functions properly. We were fortunate to stay here.

We were looking for a spot for girls Chicago weekend and this home was above and beyond in all expectations. The main floor had plenty of seating and room for all the girls, loved the dining room space and flow right into the kitchen. Having the complimentary breakfast was a nice plus. The second floor with all the bedrooms was very spacious. Plenty of bathroom space, too! Location is right near the lake. Definitely a great spot for any group stay, thank you!!

This was a lovely place to stay for our family of 6 adults. The neighborhood was a good location and short distance to grocery, beverage and other stores of interest. The walk to the beach was short and a good experience even in mid-December. The unexpected little extras really made it feel homey - Christmas tree, lights and other holiday décor. Large table for our board game nights, and days. This is definitely a good place for a family stay.

We had a lovely family reunion at Greenleaf House. 6 bedrooms and large common spaces gave us plenty of room, and it was great to have a back fenced area for picnics and bocce ball. 1 block to the lake beach!

This is a beautiful, historic house one block from the lake and located convenient to the L (Chicago subway system), Northwestern, Loyola, and Chicago. The host was great at checking us in and communicating with us, especially as our stay neared. The first floor of the house is beautiful and very comfortable. Gas fireplace was a nice touch, as is free food for breakfast. The second floor was more pedestrian, and the bedrooms themselves fairly non-descript, but perfectly comfortable and sufficient. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would recommend it highly.
